The most unbearable supporter I've ever had to sit near at the footy, was a supporter from my own team.

1. Cyril Rioli is overrated.
2. Sick and tired of players doing flashy celebrations for goals. Looking at you Eddie Betts. One thing to enjoy your footy, but seriously. Just a fist pump and a high five is suffice, unless you have kicked a sealing goal in a Grand Final.
3. Brian Taylor is a disgraceful commentator. Just barracks for the underdog.
4. Luke Darcy is a moron.
5. Have no respect for Andrew Krakour. If he has paid for his past mistakes in life, then howcome we don't forgive Fev? Also made me sick how he was a feel good story in last years GF! Tom Lonergan almost died once.
6. Have a very low appreciation of Harry O'Brien.
7. We were always going to lose 2008 GF.
8. GWS and Gold Coast will work...eventually.
9. West Coast will win the 2012 Premiership.
10. Still love Gary Ablett Jnr.
11. Holding the ball rule. Reboot it. Take it back to the original.
12. The game is fine. nothing needs to change.

About 9 or 10 of those are held by many on these forums.

14. West Coast will have their pants pulled down in 2 weeks and the football world will finally see the true colours of the competition, that there is no competition.

And Collingwood will be crowned June premiers once again.

Not sure if it's unpopular but I've never seen it to be honest. If your team has a home game, your seconds should be playing in the curtain raiser. It happens from time to time but not nearly enough. It would give people a reason to go to the footy earlier, give more exposure to the VFL, or any other seconds affiliate and create a stronger bond between the leagues.

Agree to a degree. Clubs like Collingwood and Geelong should do this as they don't lose much in ticket sales playing at Vic Park/Simons Stadium.
But for example, no point Williamstown playing a curtain raiser at Etihad, when they will lose ticket/canteen/record sales playing it at Williamstown.

Girls are batshit crazy sometimes. There's no consistency with their tastes. I too think Pendles is ugly as ****, but being an elite level AFL footballer he's always going to get deh pussay.

Tom Hawkins is another one girls seem to adore. I always considered him VERY unfortunate looking.

That non-Victorian teams have an advantage with their away games because they play in Vic so much, they'd be used to it. A lot of the players are Vic anyway so they wouldn't get the same unsettled feeling of playing in an interstate city. I actually think it's a big advantage and find it amusing when fans from interstate whinge about the amount of travel they have to do. Plus they have their own fanbases here that are stronger than the fanbases of Vic clubs interstate.

What about the travel we have to do every week?

I don't think Swan is a great player, don't care about his stat numbers. Similar for Lids, Gibbs, Hurley and Nic Nat.
I like Adrian Anderson.
Collingwood, are not so bad really when you think about it. The hate is outdated at best.
Jack Watts will be fine for Melbourne.
Runners should be banned.
Clash strips aren't needed.
Dennis Commeti has a good reputation but I can't see why (bring back Sandy Roberts).
Membership numbers are over valued, and inaccurate.
We should have a red card system like soccer, adds drama.
Umpires should not talk to/police players, if a rule is broken blow your whistle and pay a free...nothing else.

Yeah that's why I think it evens out. Many Vic sides home games have no home advantage, where as if you guys are any good you're almost unbeatable in WA. But you do have to travel every second week. Fair trade.

We only play at Etihad about 6-7 times a season, that's not a huge amount. The MCG we're lucky to play at twice, the rest is in other non-Vic states. I don't think it's enough to even it out but I do see your point.

  • I've never seen a toothless Collingwood supporter in my life.
  • Cyril Rioli is no better than any other small forward going around.
  • Stephen Milne is a top bloke. Met him out one night and gained a shitload of respect for him!
  • Geelong 07-11 > Brisbane 01-04, yeah the threepeat is impressive, but Brisbane won 2 of those GF's against a Collingwood side which really wasn't that good. 2 of Geelong's GF wins were against 2 dominant sides throughout the year. Stk 09' and Pies 11' between them, lost 4 games.
Yeah and Collingwood had to beat Port

Such a Victorian-esque way of looking at it.

I don't think non-Victorian teams complain about travelling. If you want a national competition, it's inevitable.

Richmond does NOT have a great song - that's an insult to music. All footy songs suck. Childish garbage with grown men singing, "we are the best, we are so mighty, we're so proud, we're gonna win the flag - even though 17 other teams are also gonna win the flag..."

(I have a feeling that view will be VERY unpopular!:D)

I've always thought Club Songs were for fans - a bit like team scarves and beanies (which are silly in any context other than at an actual game) - I must admit this modern fetish concentrating on the players singing the song after the game is rather weird. It reminds me of Steve Waugh's effort to make the Australian Cricket cap a sacred object.

Following on from that, I don't like the camera's in the dressing room - before, during, or after a game. It doesn't add any value to me as a fan, and if I was a player I think I'd be pissed off about it. I believe that players and clubs have changed (sanitised) their dressing room activities to appeal to the cameras. (The always excited, playful, put-the-new-kids-in-the-centre song being a prime example).

Except for the holding the ball rule? o_O

Agree with this. Then they go on the footy show and sam newman brings up the incredible fact that one of the players was walking around in his speedo's IN THE DRESSING ROOM!!

What a scandal.

2) Home games should be classified as those where you do not leave the state. Therefore, currently the Eagles play 12 home games, whereas teams like Collingwood play 18 home games. Then to balance this out, the Vicorian teams would have to travel sometimes twice to play Sydney, West Coast, etc to make travelling fair.
While I get your point, this fails to take into account the advantage the interstate sides get when playing a travelling side. Victoria teams receive no travelling or home ground advantage when playing other Victorian teams, so despite us playing a home game against Collingwood at the MCG, we receive no home ground or travel advantage.

The interstate teams despite having to travel every second week do get a travel and home ground advantage in all home games (except derbys, showdowns and clashes).
