Keep hearing ‘there’s so many things to like about the hawks at the moment’. I really struggle to come up with one.
That's the spirit. I've been uncomfortable with all the love we got during the year. It's all gone now - Hawthorn should forever be the heels. It was like when Jake "the Snake" Roberts went face. Sure he was entertaining but really he was so much better as a bad guy.

The AFL has been using the wrong ball for the past 150 years !
should be using a round ball ...
NRL calls it "Fumbleball"

The first Aussie rules game in 1858 "was played with a round ball", should have kept it that way,
the game is too messy/clumsy... NRL calls it fumbleball
Always can watch the International Rules matches on replay on YouTube for a sport that's largely the same but the way in which players handle and kick the ball being slightly different because it's round, if you want that entertainment.

Meanwhile, we don't make fun of NRL, because we don't care about it.

There will be 60,000 people watching a game of fumbleball at an AFL stadium on a Saturday, and 5000 watching NRL.

I think Aussie Rules is going ok.

Bont is a slightly better version of Cripps but both get way too much media hype.

I wouldn’t build my team around that archetype

Pretty much every team has a good midfield - having a dominant intercept defender, a DeGoey/Martin type mid-forward or a dominant key forward is way more impactful than a tall mid who flicks around handballs and kicks a goal a game or so

Bontempelli has probably been the best player in the comp over the last 5 years, and is a way better than De Doey

The tv coverage and commentary has never been worse, and thats why attendances are at record levels, people would rather attend and not have to deal with the shite dished up by channel 7 in particular - even though its live on tv nowadays

People don't have to listen to the shite commentary, they can just use their mute button.

I call mine "Dermie"

The AFL needs a “cleansing” year for the fixture.

They’ve got the tv rights locked in for a while now, so rather than trying to to squeeze every last coin out of the scheduling, give it a rebalance.

Every team that hasn’t had to travel to X ground for years/decades makes that road trip.
Eg Collingwood plays in Geelong, etc

I’d ditch no prior opportunity. If you choose to take possession and get caught with the ball in hand then it’s holding the ball end of story. It would take out the grey areas of umpire interpretation and stop the mauling congestion in one fell swoop.

Is watching 10 guys all just trying to soccer or tap the ball forward and all inevitably chasing after it while doing so really a better spectacle?

And the opposition get to nominate your 5?
I wouldn't mind that but I don’t think that would get approved because teams will always select opposition defender who can’t kick and the afl rule makers might not like that idea …. Might just get to select your own players

Chaos football is more appealing than boring endless stoppages with 36 blokes in one arc of the ground, so the answer is yes imo.

Helped by the cricket being half decent but have enjoyed the AFL having a bit of time out of media focus. Love the game but getting a breather from the wall to wall coverage which now seems like the best part of 10 months has definitely got a bit much, particularly when at times theres nothing of substance to cover.

Docklands Stadium looks better with the roof open with the natural light.

This isn't an unpopular opinion, most people in Victoria would agree the lack of a proper day game is one of the main things that makes Docklands stadium so disliked, but the numbf*cks built the thing facing the wrong way and the sun pours in and blinds people, so unfortunately it is what it is.
