What would a Dutton Liberal leadership mean for the Liberals and the country?

This is the Dutton thread.

And I appreciate you have just cut and pasted a meaningless Dutton talking point aimed at creating division rather than proposing solutions.

But any chance you have the capacity to add some of your own thinking to that simpleton one liner? Like explaining what 'governing for ALL Australians' looks like?

Give us a glimpse of your own thinking on that. Not just in relation to raised global tensions as a result of the Middle East conflict. But in building cohesion across all the diverse cultural, ethnic and racial differences that represents ALL Australians.

Err, on second thoughts, scrub that...

Silly me for swallowing the bait.
Put the barracking goose on ignore. You won’t miss their rubbish, I promise.

So Dutton is now blaming the fire bombing of the synagogue on Albanese not doing enough to combat antisemitism.

What the **** is Albanese supposed to do to stop some thugs committing arson? Dutton has no ****ing clue and is nothing but an opportunist.

You know what might help combat antisemitism? Benjamin Netanyahu stopping his campaign of bombing and starving children.
He also blamed Labor for not releasing his nuclear costings, then his suckhole media run the story and before you know it the tale is being repeated as fact.

Xtreme is definitely one of those people who’d vote against their self interest to own the libs.

I'd vote for Albo/Labor at large if they actually had a bunch of policies that I agree with. Can't even find one.
The referendum on the voice is Albo's biggest blunder - should have read the room once the polls were abundantly clear that the vote had zero chance of passing (months before the vote itself).

End the cost of living crisis and I might support him in some degree. But we know he lacks the backbone to do it.

So end something that is the result of long running successive government policies, and a global issue, and he might get your vote?

Meanwhile Dutton does nothing but complain.

Operating on a different standard there it seems.

Yeah the headline is dodgy but Stephen Mayne is also guilty of selectively quoting for effect in that twitter post.

Here is the full quote from the pollster that, to be fair, is included in that Murdoch story:

View attachment 2182748

The message as always is that to search for the truth, look beyond the headline/byline of any media article AND that includes 280 character limited social media posts.

i think stephen’s point was that this is the diarrhea factory’s modus operandi, ie they know most peeps read no further than the headline and first para, so they use them to mislead willfully. it works a treat at the diarrhea factory cos they pitch their writing to a 13-year-old mentality.

Dutton winning would no doubt make this joint way more entertaining.
You could post memes making fun of people objecting to mining oligarchs digging up their towns in the Hunter Valley. Stuff like that. Would be awesomesauce.

Australia were in a far better position with Howard, Abbott and ScoMo. Rudd/Gillard/Albo dragged Australia's reputation down massively.
We were a laughing stock internationally with the 3 stooges at the helm (Howard and Co), you probably know this and I'm an idiot for taking the bait but **** me could you be any more clueless.

Howard/Costello are Australia's greatest PM/Treasurer combination we've ever had. Without their foresight Rudd/Gillard/Wong/Swan would have had a disaster on their hands from 2007-onward. But they were lucky enough to piggy back off of Howard/Costello's brilliance.

Foresight? 😂, we pay an arm and a leg for everything because it's all privatised thanks to Howard/Costello. They literally didn't do a thing except bit by bit take more away from the low/middle income earners and created the Dog eat Dog society we have now. If Howard got his way he would have abolished Medicare too absolutely detests it to this day. He was nothing more than a sniveling corporate weasel. Him losing his seat in 07 to this day was as glorious a thing to happen as you could possibly imagine. 10 years too late.

Thanks for the big belly laugh, needed that on my Saturday night :p

What did you think of the way they squandered our gold at a ridiculous low price?
And used a once in a generation mining boom to buy their way back to government setting up recurring unaffordable spending which trashed the economy for future generations & led to the most expensive housing in the world?

Just on the current 18 strong crossbench and supply

Gee, Broadbent (2): these seats are going back to their parties post election. Count them in LNP column
Greens (4): No circumstance in which they'd provide supply to LNP. They are in the ALP column.
Katter - LNP
Sharkie - LNP
Spender - LNP
Le - I think I would lean LNP
Chaney - lineball
Daniel, Haines, Ryan, Scamps, Steggall, Tink, Wilkie - ALP

So generously I would put it at ALP 11, LNP 7. I think the Coalition would need to get at least 70 seats in their own to think about governing.
Tom White is spending bulk cash vs Cheney.

I cant go to the bloody shops without seeing him.

Uber must have paid him $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Our economy was fine up until COVID. And there's a very easy solution to the housing issue but Albo lacks the courage of his convictions to actually implement it.

The worst thing Howard did was discounting capital gains tax. As soon as he did, Melbourne house prices doubled in four years and property prices have been decoupled from wages ever since. Dutton would be worse he has his way.

Howard and costello created the housing crisis we have today.

They also flittered away all the mining revenue by not setting up a sovereign wealth fund like other countries.

They dragged us into bushs false war against irag chasing weopans of mass destruction that never existed.

Howard also set up the disgusting offshore refugee centres that will be looked back on with horror by future generations.

Given the most Senior Liberal in Canberra is now running as an independent are the Libs a rabble and disunified?
