What would a Dutton Liberal leadership mean for the Liberals and the country?

You have to be joking.
They are already well behind and will not meet the 2030 targets.

And given there are more and more people saying no to windmills in their backyard then the likelihood of Australia ever being 100% renewable is probably next to zero. That is the reality.

It’s already over in some parts of australia and indeed the world. West coast of USA as an example

It is clear Dutton, his masters and you followers want to delay as much as possible

But the current govt have a mandate to reach their target for renewables according to duttons mandate claims.
So would Dutton approve the feds overriding local state and local govt to reach mandated targets for ‘windmills in backyards’

I guess he should.

Its not about delaying. Its about making the transition as efficient and non intrusive as possible.
California has nuclear.

California has nuclear.
California has one operating nuclear power plant constructed in 1968.

“California has two operating nuclear power reactors at one plant, three nuclear facilities at various stages of decommissioning, and multiple research reactors that are operational or undergoing decommissioning.“

California has nuclear.
Which is planned to close around 2030 and they're not building a new one.

We have coal plants, but it doesn't mean we should build new ones.

You keep talking about "the western world", but "the Western World" is installing far more renewables and storage than anything else.

Hydro Wind and Solar combined is outpacing Thermal (coal and gas) and nuclear combined in China in new capacity added.

In India, renewables makes up 71% of new generation added.

The whole world is going more and more renewable, but we have the LNP and others telling us to halt the transition to renewables because "the western world" has some 30-40yo old nuclear plants but we don't have any.

35 new nuclear power plants have commenced construction in the last 5 years.

22 in China. The other 13 by Russia.

USA has not commenced one.
UK has not commenced one.
France has not commenced one.
Germany has not commenced one.
The entire western world has not commenced one.
And the entire western world cannot seem to deliver the ones they were already half way through.

But MPMonkeys communist comrades have commenced 35.

Where will the waste be stored. Tons and tons of waste?

Unfortunately for Dutton that particular wedge didn't work out too well for the Liberals today - not for the first time Dutton has screwed up basic strategy.

Subs do not need waste storage until the 2050's. Dutton's thought bubble needs storage from the 2030's.

Amateur hour by Dutton.
Will Dutton be alive in the 2050s

Because these long term plans... He won't be around when it's done apparently

That is the beauty of all Liberal Policy and denialism - they will be long gone when it comes home to roost.

This is thoroughly depressing - Australia is a uniquely backwards dystopia that somehow manages to keep landing on its feet despite the best intentions of its leaders;

"Does a climate denier live next door to you? Probably. The stats show that four in ten Australians don't believe climate change is caused by human activity. This alarming figure comes from a recent French poll revealing only 60 per cent of Australians accept the scientific consensus on “human-caused climate disruption”. Worse, we’re going backwards – these new figures represent a 6 per cent decrease from previous surveys, and we’re significantly below the global average of 73 per cent. Even more concerning, only half of us (52 per cent) believe “the costs caused by the damage linked to climate disruption and pollution are going to be greater than the investments needed for the ecological transition of our societies” – the lowest percentage worldwide."

The Coalition cares deeply about climate change just not in the next 30 years

I think they should just go whole Canavan and go boots n all denial rather than this disingenuous crap they are currently offering up

They are not saying ‘halt renewables’. I wish people would actually read the policy instead of getting emotional or getting their news from Twitter.

And where are you getting this 71% figure for India from?

You could use the same argument for those who are setting unrealistic targets of net zero by 2050.

They will either be living large on their pension or six feet under.

They may as well say 'halt renewables'.
  • Against off-shore wind
  • Against solar farms
  • Against on-shore wind
  • Against transmission lines.
  • Against battery (with the exception of Snowy)

You know there is no argument when people have to resort to personal attacks, memes, Twitter screen shots from unknown nutters and insane conspiracy theories.
This is how newscorp works
