Looks like Kangaroo Flat are keen to keep getting a few players www.********************** can they still make the finals boys? what do you boys reckon?

Bendigo is the worst league ever.

The End.

Gee, enlightening stuff.

YKH, thanks for confirming the stereotype of Bacc Marsh residents.Your 2 mums and 3 dads must be proud.

Now, to the important stuff.

Very happy to see KFlat recruit a gun that might actually stick around, not like Ty Z. J Maddern would be a handy inclusion to the BFL interleague squad, that's for sure!

Yep, I reckon it's great that a BFL club has recruited him (who happens to be a nice kid as well). Would've been great to see him run around in the maroon and blue on the QEO, but as Plugger said, what's good for one club is good for us all as it lifts the BFL standard.

And our interleague side will be all the better for it

LESS than two weeks after representing Queensland, Justin Maddern has signed with Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football League club Kangaroo Flat.

Maddern, who has been playing with Labrador in the AFL Queensland competition this year, is returning to central Victoria for work commitments.
The key forward signed with the Roos on Tuesday night and lodged his clearance yesterday.
It’s a massive coup for the Roos, who are locked in a three-way battle for fifth spot with Maryborough and Castlemaine.
Maddern has been in outstanding form for Labrador this season, and was rewarded when he represented Queensland against Western Australia at Townsville on June 7, kicking three goals.
‘‘We were rapt when he said he was going to move back here and have a crack with us,’’ Kangaroo Flat coach Darryl Wilson said yesterday.
‘‘His form at Labrador has been great this year and he has been in the best players most weeks.’’ While hopeful Maddern will line up this Saturday against Gisborne in round nine, Wilson concedes it’s more likely he will play his first game for the club the following week against Golden Square.
Prior to this season, Maddern had spent the previous five years on the Metricon Bendigo Bombers’ list.
He spent part of the pre-season training ahead of the 2006 season with Essendon, showing the high regard in which he is held.
Maddern’s addition at Dower Park will help to ease the workload up forward for Roos’ captain Tyrone Downie. ’‘We don’t want to put too much pressure on Justin, but I guess he gives us something different as a player who can mark, run, jump, and do all that sort of stuff,’’ Wilson said.
‘‘So we think a guy who has been a vice-captain at VFL level, represented his state at under-23 level, been at Essendon during pre-season and knows what work-rate is all about will be a good addition. ‘‘He may just help us to get that little bit of an edge when we play those sides like Maryborough and Castlemaine.

would be a bit shellshocked bb and k army first time since 2001 the gissy senior mob have lost 2 in a row
prolly trying to regroup 2 get ready for the flat this sat:p
Yeah quite down there and even Kyneton has penciled in the next home game as there best chance to get there first win for the season.

Tigers president says club is committed to BFL

Bendigo Advertiser
20/06/2008

KYNETON president Jeff Thaw says he is bemused by speculation that the Tigers have held recent discussions about a possible move to the Riddell District Football League next year.

Thaw said yesterday Kyneton was committed to the BFL and denied a radio report last Saturday morning that club officials had held a recent meeting with the RDFL.

‘‘It must have been a fairly secret meeting - I wasn’t there, our secretary is in Cairns, so he wasn’t there, our treasurer doesn’t know about it,’’ Thaw said.

‘‘That (going to the RDFL) would be the easy way out, but I think there are plenty of people around who wouldn’t want to see that happen.

‘‘There’s no doubt it is tough for us, but we figure Bendigo is the best league to be in.

‘‘If we want our footballers to play the best standard of football they can, Bendigo is where we should be.

‘‘We have been quite bemused by all the speculation about the club, but no-one, apart from yourself, has come and asked us about it.’’ RDFL general manager Scott McCartney also denied that talks had taken place recently about the prospect of Kyneton crossing over from the BFL.

‘‘We haven’t heard anything from Kyneton at all,’’ McCartney said.

‘‘Clubs may contact us and then there is a process whereby I contact the league where they are from and let them know we have been contacted.

‘‘But we certainly haven’t met with Kyneton.’’ The Tigers, who won the last of their six premierships in 1997, have struggled in the BFL since 2000.

Since 2000, Kyneton has won just 29 of its 142 senior games, and has only played in one final during that time _ a 19-point loss to Sandhurst in the 2003 elimination final.

The Tigers, who are winless this season, look headed for what would be their third wooden spoon since 2001.

Asked about how the club was positioned off-field, Thaw answered: ‘‘I think we’re no different to any other club.

‘‘It’s big business trying to run a club in the BFL and we probably have too few, who have to do too much.

‘‘We have had the same people on the committee for a long time and it has been hard to get new blood.

‘‘It’s just been a case of too few numbers.

’‘We played South Bendigo last week and the former president of South Bendigo was talking about them being in strife.

‘‘Now if South Bendigo, which is having all that success, is in strife, it makes it hard for the clubs that aren’t having success.’’ Thaw said the location of Kyneton made it hard for the club to retain its young players.

‘‘We are sort of stuck in the middle _ Maryborough and Castlemaine probably retain their kids a bit better because it’s too far to go to Bendigo or Melbourne.

‘‘We lose a few to Melbourne, whereas you could still move to Melbourne and play for Gisborne.’‘ So it does make it hard, but we have some good junior players coming through and hopefully, we can have some success with them.’’ Last year, Kyneton’s under-16sfr1/2 side made the Bendigo Junior Football League grand final, while the under-15A side was beaten in the preliminary final.

This year, the Tigers under-16sfr1/2 side sits sixth after 10 rounds, while the under-15A side is third, just two points from top.

The club’s under-18 side is also on the improve. After winning just two games for the previous two years, the Tigers already have three victories this season.

NFClew & co: How do you think you guys will go tomorrow against the Bloods?

Will be a great game - nice to see Sharpy getting a run in the 1's after years of consistent magoo games. He's to be commended for ignoring $ to play seniors out in HDFL & LVFL land and stick with his mates.

My poor young Dragons are up for a football lesson on Sunday - hopefully they will learn something in between watching the ball soar over their heads through the big sticks, and getting hammered by bigger bodies in the middle.
