Just a quick one fellas, was having a hunt through the selected sides and noticed Leigh Rees hasnt played a lot of footy this year. is he injuried??

And big D. Mac hasn't played a hell of a lot either is he also on the injuried list??

Both blokes have been injured Truck. Reesy has played the last 3 games in the reserves and will probably come in this week to strengthen the backline after shadbolts injury. d mac kicked 4 on the w/e in the magoos and will prob get a call up as well.

Be interesting to see if anything further comes out of the incident at Camp reserve on the weekend. It was one of the dirtiest acts i have ever seen. O'Brien is a deathadder! I did notice he only went near the footy once after what he did ... shitting himself.

he's a dead-set thug. He was sniping all our young blokes when we played down there and only backed off when one of the older blokes said something

What happened on the w/e?

Pies call for probe

MARYBOROUGH Football-Netball Club has requested an investigation into the incident which left player Matthew Brown dazed and bloodied on the boundary of Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve on Saturday.
Brown was thrown into the Castlemaine coaches’ box by James O’Brien during the third quarter of Maryborough’s important Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football League clash with its Magpie rivals.
Maryborough Football-Netball Club committee members decided to request the BFL investigation during a meeting on Monday night.
President Mick Reid said the Maryborough community was so outraged about the incident that the club had little option but to request an investigation.
"It wasn’t so much the committee (that was concerned), it was raised by a lot of supporters, they saw it, they were horrified and they thought the umpires didn’t do anything and we’ve got to do something," Reid said.
"If it had been dealt by properly by the umpires none of this would have happened.
"You’ve got a duty of care that’s got to be performed by players and umpires.
"To see an incident like that I think an unduly rough play (report) could have been made and maybe a free kick would have been awarded and the melee wouldn’t have happened."
Brown was confident on Monday that he would make a full recovery in time for this weekend’s clash with the in-form South Bendigo, but Reid said he suffered a setback yesterday.
"I spoke to Matt (yesterday) morning and he’s still got headaches and more doctor appointments, so he’s not out of the woods as far as serious injuries," he said.
"On Monday he was better, but (yesterday) he said he was still feeling a bit sore... it could have been a lot worse."
Reid said a letter was likely to be sent to the Bendigo Umpires Association outlining the club’s disappointment with how the three central umpires dealt with the situation.
Play continued immediately after the incident and Castlemaine scored a goal as Maryborough players remonstrated with O’Brien.
Oliver said yesterday the letter had been received by the BFL, but that Maryborough had several more areas to attend to - including paying the $500 investigation fee - before tomorrow for an inquiry to be launched.
The investigation will then be run by an independent investigation officer qualified by the Victorian Country Football League, who will have 21 days to reach a finding. "The BFL as a league is not involved at all, it’s a bit like a tribunal, and we’re just collating (the evidence) at the moment, but Maryborough has a couple of more things to do before we move ahead with an investigation," Oliver said.

time for 1 of the city clubs to get on bord with strathfieldsaye
by delayng there could be a club with huge history becoming part of history by not being around in 2012

Strath unveils plans today

THE new Strathfieldsaye Football-Netball Club is today expected to announce it will seek to join the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football League next season.

The committee of the new club has had to decide whether to approach either the BFL or Heathcote District Football League.

The Advertiser understands a decision has been made to seek admittance into the BFL for 2009.

With that being the case, should the BFL accept Strathfieldsaye’s request to join next year, the league would grow to 10 clubs and the bye would be eliminated.

A community survey earlier in the year indicated a slight preference towards the club joining the BFL.

Club president Ray Patterson told a community meeting in April that finances would have a major bearing on which league the club would seek to join.

It was estimated the club would need to spend at least twice as much to join the BFL as opposed to the HDFL.

Both the HDFL and BFL have indicated previously they would welcome discussions with Strathfieldsaye.

Although the club will play at Strathfieldsaye’s new multi-million dollar sporting facility presently being built, it will also represent the areas of Junortoun, Homebush and Mandurang.

The last club to join the BFL was North City, which entered in 2006, but only lasted two seasons before joining the Ballarat Football League.

All these comments about someone absolutely "has to" merge with S'saye still perplex me.

The committee out there never wanted a merger option, they simply entertained the idea to satisfy the VCFL's input on the whole thing.

Even if South or Sandhurst wanted to merge, which some at South do, S'saye will reject it anyway.

Smartest move to make s,saye a competive club in the next few years is to merge with slagheads or south. if they dont it is only going to wipe out a small club at a district level whether it be huntly, north bendigo, YCW, Cambells Creck, dunolly, Wyche, Charlton, alot of those clubs from those leagues rely on players in bendigo, by adding another club adds another head ache to getting seconds sides out on the park

Totally agree with your comment about $.

The Bendigo Bombers (while providing an opportunity for local players to make up the numbers in the VFL reserves) take out about $75K+p.a. in sponsorship dollars.

If (or is it a matter of when) they leave, it will give BFL clubs more opportunity to attract more dollars to obtain some ex-AFL / VFL players to lift the competition standard.

your wrong it wont attract afl players to the bendigo league it will just mean that players will go to other vfl clubs, eg jayden donaldson to sandringham, if the bombers will go.
and players wont go to the bfl if they believe the bombers is a good thing b'cos there is only a few teams that are advocates for it eg K.Flat cos if they believe in the structure they get the players there is bout 7 players on the vfl list that are on k/falts list. coniencdence?
that is why k/flat is in the right direction.

the clubs in bendigo have a thing where they bag out the bendigo bombers but are happy to have the players when they go back, or quit??? im sure south bendigo has benefitted from micheal leech who struggled to play twos last year, connaughton, bowles, and ireland??? im sure they arnt complaining bout how much experince these players have thanks to the bendigo bombers.

most afl players who see there chances to play afl again wont go to the bfl and most go back to country leagues from where they are from, wat attraction is there to the bendigo league?
the bendigo league would need to be stronger b4 an key afl player would come, from experience in playing in the league, we are in div 3 in interleague.

on the sponsors they may take 75k out but their marketing ability is much higher with games been televised and the essendon influnce, sponsors wanna be with the bombers due to it !!!

doc kenny .... been to c ur boys or south boys playing at the q recently ??
ben. weekly published a pic of the sunday hurst match in its sprts pages the other friday --- hartney family sitting on scrboard side and along with 2, maybe 3 cars and one other family u cood have shot a cannon down there and not hit anybody
same with south .... one bloke out at the flat sed the other day --- "why r they playing sunday. Do they think they'll get another 10 people there. Make that get another 5 to turn up".
the city clubs r dying dr. kenny n. whethr u acknowledge it or not:thumbsdown:

Great to see Jeff Thaw getting on the front foot and putting an end to rumours of Kyneton departing the Bendigo League:thumbsu:, but what is going on at tigerland? I see that Brian Ruffell is playing 2's, is he not training if so he deserves to be dropped, if not he should be a walk up start to get a game with a team that has not looked like winning a game. Why would Rhys Ellis be playing thirds for Kyneton after playing all year at the pioneers? Are the Tigers stacking their under 18's for a tilt at the flag? There is not one under age player in the seniors despite at least 6 players with senior experience playing tomorrow in the thirds and the senior team looking like a patched up district league side.

Spot on fifth quarter!!! Sandhurst and South will be the hardest hit!! Will be an interesting season for Bendigo and other leagues close by:cool:

Been reading in the pappers that Strath looks set to enter the BFL,i was wondering how clubs feel if this happens.Have the clubs thought about these few points.
1 No bye-Means no rest for injured players
2 More player payments
3 More medical, eg Tapes, Oils and what ever else you need for players
4 Extra pressure on workers around the clubs
All of the above points are for the football side of your club i have not included the netball side.If you think it's hard to keep your club to run out on the ground each weekend now, it will only get harder with no bye
I say to all clubs in the BFL do you really what to lose your bye:thumbsu:

Yea good of Thawry.... Firstly i dont know the reason why Baz was dropped but yea i believe he has to be in the senior team... there was one under ager Jackson Garvey Hawk.... Rhys Ellis has come to play 18s cause people believe its better for his confidence something that he has lacked the last few weeks... no point playing in the seniors when there losing by over 160 points.... The 18s have the cattle to be a genuine flaf contender but now they just need to gell together

If you have injured players then they should be having the week off whether there is a bye or not, I am sure the league will throw in a general bye somewhere to break up the season for players to rest up.
One extra home game will cover some of those costs you have mentioned

You blokes are kidding yourself arent you?? Half you blokes wouldnt even put your head over the footy so you could be "sniped". You dogs better have the eyes in the back of your heads when you play the maine next....
