(Theatrical Version)
1st viewing. All I can say is WOW, how did I miss this all these years. Probably because of the availability of it, its only been released on Laserdisc in 1993 and dvd in 2000. If it wasn't for people asking when this & True Lies are coming to blu ray I would have never even have looked at it.

I was reluctant to see it because I thought how much can you do underwater for 2 and a half hours and not be boring and somehow James Cameron did it. Then after the movie I read the trivia page on IMDB and couldn't believe what I was reading, I'm guessing a future retrospective with the cast is out of the question.

I also read there's a directors cut which hopefully is on the upcoming blu ray, I hear it's the better version. I'm giving this an 8/10.

Knocked out some classics id never seen

The Untouchables
I found this a struggle. Great cast, but almost cartoonish. Costner as well... how the hell did he become a star? Plodding movie that didnt seem to be able to get it together with any emotional impact.
5/10
Costner was a powerhouse for a while there, this is a great movie and one that plays homage to quite a few classics

Baby Driver 6/10. A couple of cool scenes in time with the music. Entertaining enough but pretty forgettable overall I thought.
I really enjoyed it, the opening credits were fantastic

Star Wars - The Last Jedi.

Loved it. Great action scenes, good plot that doesn’t vary too much from the standard Star Wars themes. There was a mix of tension, action and comedy that was balanced very well, just occasionally tipping over to too much comedy for the tension to hold.
One fight scene in particular was very stylized, almost Peter Greenaway style.
Terrific cast and certainly a stronger female presence than previous episodes.
8.5/10

Star Wars - the last Jedi

Found it to be a movie with fantastic visuals, with a poor plot with a lot of the themes borrowed heavily from ROTJ.

The feminist angle this movie promotes took away my enjoyment as there seems to be a real black and white stereotyping of each gender I.e every female was flawless, strong and wise..while the male characters were irrational, stupid and evil.

The comedy was very overdone..similar to new Thor movie.

Sadly all the exciting and good work from Rogue one has been undone for me, and I fear for the next episode let alone the new trilogy that will follow.

Dissapointed

3/10

Blade Runner 2049

Eh... took a 90 minute story and turned it into a 160 minute film. Plenty of the usual overbearing Zimmer score drowning out lines, really weird sound editing in general (waaay too much reverb everywhere), and I'm still wondering what the actual point of the film was - was it meant to be part one of a trilogy or something? When the story was actually moving forward it was decent, but unfortunately that was happening far too little to justify the running time.

Sicario - good movie. Really decent balance of build up of intensity. Only thing is it follows Blunt's character as our view into this world until the last act when it abandons her entirely. 8/10

Scrooged - I don't know what Bill Murray or the director were on but just a really weird and unnecessary take on the Dickens story. Significant continuity details missing. 2/10

Logan Lucky - a slow build with a decent payoff. Adam Driver the standout. 6.5/10

El Camino Christmas - could take or leave it. Was entertaining without ever feeling like it was going to be memorable. 4/10

The Negotiator
- has the blatantly obvious 90s twist and ultimately a movie that came out the year before, namely L.A. Confidential, is a similar but far superior movie. However, there is no denying Samuel L Jackson's presence as always. 5.5/10

Wolf Creek - Season 2.

It's a series, but whatever, it's basically a long movie.

One of my favourite opening credits in a show.

I felt like this was a whole lot of the same though, basic characters running around with Mike Taylor gunning them down like cattle. The characters aren't exactly redeemable either, despite having 6 episodes to make you care even a little for them.

John Jarrett still plays the character of Mick really well and was always going to be the best thing about the series.

2.5/5

The Last Jedi: Didn't like it. Bloated, irrelevant story lines, hole riddled plot and many other things. SW is fast becoming dead to me. DEAD!

Beyond Skyline

This straight to DVD sequel to Skyline was much better than I thought it would be. I quite like the original film as it's a genre I enjoy, and this movie picks up during the initial alien attack and eventually crosses over to the original characters. There's plenty of action and the special effects are well done. I don't understand why this was never released to cinemas, but it's worth a look if you like alien invasion films. 6/10

Eyes Wide Shut

Phenomenal in every way. Kubrick's magnum opus. Like an even more refined Barry Lyndon.

Thats a big call. I kinda want to re-watch his movies again but geez they are hard work but I dont mean that in a negatibe way though

Detriot - a rage inducing movie particularly towards Will Poulters character. Credit to him on the performance though. He is only 24 too. 7/10

The Lookout (2007) - interesting little movie that im just watching again after 10 years starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Matthew Goode who both give solid performances and was part of JGLs breakout. Goode breaks typecasting here with decent effect and recommend this even if it not an all time great. 7/10

The Last Jedi - first hour was mostly trash, 2nd half was good. Would have been better if Rey and Ren hooked up I think there is chemistry there. Was falling asleep until Benecio turned up. Love watching him but he felt a bit out of place 6/10

How did this work? Didn't the yank chick kill him at the end of the first season?

The Last Jedi - I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, I don't hate them but I certainly don't get much of the hype around them. This one was no different for me. Pretty middling affair with Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver putting in good (not great) performances. I don't really get it is what I'm saying 6/10.

(FWIW I thought Rogue One was better).

Starship Troopers - Man I love that movie and Dina Meyer is peak redhead warrior goddess. RIP Diz. 8/10

Valerian and The City Of A Thousand Planets - Yeh... Weird but not in the way that made The Fifth Element so damn loveable and fun. Visually its impressive but it just doesn't flow. Dane DeHaan felt horribly miscast, Cara Delevigne was good and Rihanna shouldn't act. 6/10

Ever since I read the first review - IGN 9.4 - the scores have been steadily declining with yours being the worst I've seen so far

What is happening

The Disaster Artist

No idea how this will play for audiences unfamiliar with The Room because so much of it is predicated on knowledge of. The best comparison is obviously Ed Wood but this isn't that good - funnier, but far narrower and not as human. Franco's performance (or impression) is killer though and if he gets that Oscar nod it's going to be a surreal awards show.
Single best movie experience of my life
