Continued in Part 7:

I have never seen a Mission Impossible movie. Or a Bourne movie.
Seen Ghost Protocol and Fallout and they were great modern action romps.

I never jived with Bourne films although they have universal acclaim. My 12yo heart just preferred James Bond.

Guy Richies Covenant. Pretty well done but too much slo-mo for me in parts and the story itself dragged on but there were some genuinely tense scenes with the Taliban.
I watch a lot of military movies multiple times but I doubt I’ll feel like watching this again. 6/10

A better film IMO with a similar type story and setting is ‘The Beast of War’ (1988) with Jason Patrick set during the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in the early 1980’s.

I’ve never seen MI, Transformers or Fast N Furious.
Mission Impossible is a really solid franchise. The first is a DePalma film FFS. The newer versions (Rogue Nation onward) are excellent modern action adventure films that dont skimp on stunts and locations. If youre a fan of the genre youre really missing out.

Weve discussed FnF to death in here.

I actually think the first and to a lesser degree second Transformers are pretty good visually and Shia and the ensemble cast behind him are good fun. The rest from that point on are very much take or leave.

Manhunter (1986)

Bad script, poor casting, overacting, dodgy editing, some of the camera angles were just plain weird, awful soundtrack. Michael Mann has directed some great movies but this is a real stinker.

2/10

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One... given it's the seventh movie in the franchise and only part one, it has no right to be as good as it is. But it's very good, albeit not the five stars I've seen some people giving it. Spectacular action from beginning to end with a story that holds up all the way through, never gets boring despite it's two-and-a-half hour length (though it probably could have done with a little trim) and doesn't leave you feeling like you've wasted your time as it has its own sense of closure. Still prefer the Bourne film as they are a little more grounded, but still, 8.5/10.

I find its best to wait a few weeks to see the blockbuster movies - means there are sfa people in the theartre, especially the idiots.
Im pretty close to done with going to cinemas TBH. Would happily pay 30-40 to just stream at home at this point.

This is me, although even then I'll generally wait for it to turn up on one of the several streaming services I pay for.

I still reckon you can't beat cinema, but it's a matter of time and place. I saw Dead Reckoning yesterday, glad I saw it in cinemas, but Monday night at a Reading (which was also cheaper) meant maybe 20 people in the cinema instead of 100. Wait a week or two and I could pretty much watch it on my own at that time.

If it’s something I really wanna watch I’m happy to pay. The issue for me is most of the movies I’m SUPER keen on take a while to come to streaming and are still 30+ when they get there.

I’d love for everything to be released on a paid streamer at the same time as the cinema.

Crazy! I cannot wait to get to a packed cinema to see Oppenheimer. There's nothing better.
There’s still movies that are event movies for sure and if people weren’t such self entitled shit heels I’d love going to the cinema but if my choices are between 40 other deadshits ****ing about on their phones and chattering away or watching it on my HD 75” in the luxury of my own home I’m picking the latter
