MI : Dead Reckoning Part One.

This franchise keeps delivering. So many tense scenes and somehow got invested in these characters again. My only slight negative was the villian. I was keen for Esai Morales in this but I dont know what his motivation was for.doing what he does.
You'll watch part two to find out, as will I.

I bought two gold class seats for myself to see mission impossible without sharing the table. No regrets. The action and storyline were typical of the series, yet I'll still give it 8/10.

Fool's Paradise - 2/10
This was what I'd imagine would happen if you try and stretch a bad 10 minute SNL sketch out to an hour and a half, just painfully unfunny with caricatures for characters.

Hypnotic - 3/10

One of those movies that thinks its blowing your mind with how clever it is while you've lost interested half an hour ago. It felt more like someone fed the inception script to ChatGPT

John Wick: Chapter 4 - 8/10
This was a good palate cleanser. Almost 3 hour film but the action heavy focus made it barely feel 2 hours. Night club scene felt like playing a Hitman game and the overhead one gave vibes of games like hotline miami

Insidious - The red door 4/10

Very few scares, storyline lacking. I've seen every Insidious movie in the series and this was the worst.

Decided to go back to watching some movies (and tv series) again after a few weeks of spending my free time video gaming. It's been awhile since I've watched something new or even some of my old favourites (will use this time to eventually watch The Nolan Batman trilogy for example).

Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse

Saw this was on 7mate last night, this is a film that I've ended up with the dvd, bluray and 4K version over time. From memory I hadn't fully adapted to bluray (or 4K) when it was originally released, so I started off with the dvd. Then I got the bluray at some point in 2020, and finally purchased the 4K version some time last year. I enjoyed it at the time, but it wasn't a film that I raged about fully (to be one that I'd watch multiple times a year). But the viewing on 7mate inspired me to watch it from start to finish today. The animation is pretty good and it stands out even more in 4K.

I'll probably get "across the spider-verse" on release and immediately just opt for the 4K version this time.

The Prestige

Second film of the day, one of my all time favourites. I know I've posted about it on here over the years. But I'll repeat the story (again lol), I got the dvd not long after it came out. Sat down to watch it and switched it off in less than 30 minutes. Just thought that it wasn't for me. Gave it another chance some time later and was able to pay attention to the plot, this time around I was fully engrossed in it and to this day it's one of my favourite (non action or comic book) movie's of alllllllllll time. The storyline is intriguing and over the years, every viewing of it.. I'd pick up on something I hadn't been aware of previously. So many pieces of the puzzle that make up the movie, which makes me enjoy it even more. It's also another one where I started off with the dvd, got the bluray a few years later, and updated to the 4K version (and it looks sexy as in that format) 2 years ago.

The Illusionist with Edward Norton is an underated flick. Came out about the same time as The Prestige.

Yeah it got lost because of it.

Think I've only seen it one i just forget it exists

Leon The Professional (1994, SBS On Demand) -

Disgusting. How tf is this rockspider bait in the IMDB top 250 films?! Did not finish.

It's one of my favourite movies. Leon has to be the coolest movie hitman ever. Oldman is on top form. It's got a French feel but is set in New York. Great cinematography and soundtrack. It's gets a little into Lolita territory because she's a confused, precocious young girl - but nothing untoward occurs. Their relationship is really one of a protective father and his daughter.

Yeah I’m wondering if that guy even watched the movie at all or just went on some snippets he’d heard from a few story reviews.

Calling that film “rockspider bait” is pretty far from the mark imo.

Many if not all young performers have crazed, deviant fans but we can’t call all their movies pedophile bait because of it.
Yeah except for the fact that movie was and Hollywood has a long history not just of sexualising young people but also behind the scenes sexually assaulting them

But yeah it's not the movie industries fault it tried to normalise that shit...

A twelve year old dresses up as sex symbols, wants to have sex with Leon, "just" sleeps with him instead, says she feels something in her stomach for him or words to that effect, they say they love each other and she is inappropriately filmed and dressed on numerous occasions. This was far from a father daughter relationship.

Unsurprisingly the director is allegedly a predatory creep with numerous accusations from actresses and dated a 15yo.

I didn’t get any pedophile vibes from it at all. It was just a kid with a crush on their protector/father figure.

Anyway I was more focused on the story with the crazy cop and watching Gary Oldman act.

No way. You’re bringing up things that weren’t even in the movie. 🤣

We might as well say ‘The Lost Boys’ is pedophile bait because the star actor was r*ped around that time and vampires are sometimes known to be sexual deviants.
I'm talking about the actions of the writer and director as well as what he had in the script prior to it being "toned down".

It's pretty relevant to the discussion about whether the film crossed the line or not.

The majority of the cast in the kost boy's were in their early 20s.

The two Corey's were 16 and weren't sexualised in that movie or put into inappropriate relationships with adults.

It was also a horror film and not meant to be "real" unlike Leon.

That's the last I'm going to post on the topic so I don't bog the thread down further.

Well I was responding to a guy’s review of a movie he’d never seen before and didn’t even finish watching.

Things that are not in the movie are irrelevant to that.

I got no pedophile vibes from watching the movie and not sure how he did unless he heard another opinion and went especially looking for them.
