I’m not anti racing ..sort of but funny how they love the good horses and mince the bad ones.A Horse Named Winx (Stan)
Fantastic documentary. What a horse. 9/10

How does it stack up to Covenant?Alien Romulus
Sick, twisted, evil and gross.
****ing loved it.
The zero gravity sequence was awesome and the whole final act was just... real good, clean, wholesome fun.
SmilarishHow does it stack up to Covenant?
Would be interested in your take here.Smilarish
Romulus is a throwback to the first, haunted house in space stuff with some COOKED body horror. Convenant expanded the universe a bit more (not as much as Prometheus but still).
I think Romulus did it better personally.
I think the Xenos in full daylight was a bad idea, lurking in the shadows is HEAPS scarier. Aside from that yeh I think you’re probably right. I do think the zero gravity scene in Romulus was truly inspired stuff and that finale was really gross and scary and ****ed though.Would be interested in your take here.
I thought the Romulus story line was far superior to Covenant, but the Alien scenes in Covenant were better.
In particular these scenes.
Rebel Ridge
Pretty well done, slow burn very grounded small town corrupt cops action thiller.
Don Johnson is great but the male lead Aaron Pierre is amazing. Great presence and handles the physicality well.
The director Jeremy Saulnier also did a belter little indie horror called Green Room a few years back that I recommend anyone watch
Yeah watched green room after rebel ridge. Was great!
Now I need to hunt down his first film Blue Ruin
I’m not sure that any film can really have the sort of cultural chokehold films used to have because the medium just isn’t as important anymore. Avengers Endgame was probably the last true cultural “moment” cinema had and prior to that they became very few and far between.Dirty Dancing
Genuinely have not seen the movie from start to finish in many many many years (20+) I've seen the occasional scene from time to time when it's been on tv... and hear various songs on the radio here and there. It's a classic, but it must have been like lightning in a bottle - right place right time ? As I understand they've tried to recapture the magic with a failed "loose" sequel, a tv movie/musical remake but have fallen flat. One wonders if THIS movie came out in the 2010's-2020's would it have the same cultural impact or become a phenomenon in this "era" ? I'd hazard a guess and say probably not.
With that being said the film is a huge nostalgic trip, more because I'm recalling the times I did watch it when I was little and the time in my life etc etc etc. Swayze is a god!
3.5/5
It's a bloody classicNever seen it. Do i bother?
Romulus, Blink Twice, The Substance all worth a watch from what I've seen recently.Feel like there isn't much at the cinemas at the moment! Was keen to go see something this weekend but all I could find was an early screening of Saturday Night in Hoyts Lux and there's a screening of Anora at the AFF I'm half tempted to go to but not really that keen to go to the Adelaide Film Festival tbh.
I’m seeing it tonight, I’m a squeamish lil puss so I’ll report backAnyone seen that substance movie?
Sounds gross but Im morbidly curious
