Why would North fans be into WB? You guys are just about everyone's 2nd favourite team.
Haha you're kidding? Have you been living under a rock the passed 12 months and avoided what north fans dribble on the game day threads on the main board ?

To add some balance to the debate around Norths youth. The AFLs best 50 under 22 had north as the only club without a representative. Make of that what you will
Eh, if Wood and McDonald hadn't have got injured then I'm petty confident that they would have both been in there given they were both excellent when fit and I'd certainly take Dumont and Clarke over the likes of Fantasia, McCarthy and a few others.

I don't think either applies in Norths case which is why trouble looms. Who is replacing boomer, wells, Petrie, Waite, dal santo

Apparently Deledio and Mundy lol

Just can't accept they aren't going to make it this time, I hope they try to hang on it will make the valley even deeper

But the research shows the cabinet is bare in that regard and would suggest you are in for a stint of pain in order to get back to the level you are currently at let alone be challenging for flags
We have had 1 bottom 4 finish since the Afl begun. Our pain is never as bad as most think.

The research? have a spell mate.

Bit hard to argue when the "research" has been so extensive.

North's older players have lasted longer and not left for greener pastures - plus we have had a lot of injuries to younger players - plus we just aren't a club that gives senior spots away unless players demand to be picked with VFL form - so there are many reasons we have fewer young guys with exposed form. By not giving up any draft picks the club has listed a lot of young players - only a few have had an impact so far, but there is promise there. Obviously North has never been poor enough to get a top pick, let alone a handful, so we rely on Brown/Goldstein type bargains. We'll just have to see. Hopefully starting this week with Ed VW.

I'm not a huge fan of North, so correct me if i'm wrong, but i would have thought:

Boomer = Corey Wagner
Wells = Ryan Clarke
Petrie = Ben McKay
Waite = Majak Daw
Dal santo = Mitchell Hibberd

They also have Sam Durdin at Weribee who looks like a good developing KPD.

Not saying that those players will necessarily match up exactly, and i would assume that North will probably be around 8-10 at the end of next season as well. I wouldn't be expecting North to drop off a-la Melbourne/Carlton of the late 2000s though.

North Melbourne are the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. They have no Great War. No Great Depression. Their Great War’s a spiritual war… their Great Depression is their lives. They’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day they’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But they won’t. And they’re slowly learning that fact. And they’re very, very pissed off.

North Melbourne came very close to being killed off in 2007. The war began and the war was won. So it's hardly an apt contribution in this case.

Because we all know past performance is a great indication of future performance. Glad Freo are going to be minor premiers again this year :$

You make those 5 changes to North's side and they are bottom 4 next year for sure.

Some sides are better at not having to have years at the bottom of the ladder. We are one of those teams.

You broke the 1st rule...

The issue for North is most teams when you look at their retirees who need replacing there are players already in the side, who have at a minimum 30 games to their name, who will be contributing as much if not possibly more by the time the bloke stops playing. So if you take those next generation names you have mentioned:

Harvey =Wagner - 4 games (struggled)
Wells =Clarke - 6 games (looked good)
Petrie = McKay - Yet to debut
Waite = Daw - 23 games - in and out and already 25.
Dal Santo = Hibberd - Yet to debut

Firrito (assuming) = Durdin - Yet to debut

That isn't even taking into account their second tier of older players, in the 27-29 years old range such as Gibson, Thomas, Swallow, Goldstein, Wright, Thompson, Higgins, Hansen. How many of these blokes are truly good enough to believe they will be genuine contributors when 31-32 years old. Goldstein yes, couldn't be confident of any of those others.

Or older players who will be delisted such as Nahas, Ray, Black, Tippett.

And then there is the players they have on their list which simply aren't gonna cut it at AFL level (every list has them). Going to be a huge amount of turnover in the next 3 years, and the players coming in will be very inexperienced.
