Doing ladder predictor now... there is a way of finishing top 4 even if we lose next Friday night, this needs to happen >

Dockers lose to Giants in Canberra.
Magpies lose to Blues at the MCG.

Both those results are unlikely but not out of the realms of possibility.

Which would mean we finish 4th and play the Cats at the MCG.
I actually think GWS can beat Dockers in Canberra
Also like the Blues chances v Pies
In my ladder predictor i have these two winning along with Lions of course

I just have us playing Swans away

Sydney are massive pretenders (we even beat them) and will get knocked off by St Kilda. Second place is well and truly in play.

Yep, their midfield is more blue collar and hard working than elite.
Mills, Parker, Warner, Rowbottom - they can be pushed if we bring the heat.

There goes top 4, assuming the Tigers beat the Bombers the possibilities are >

Blues win - we finish 5th and play the Blues at the Gabba

Magpies win - we finish 6th and play the Tigers at the Gabba.

My prediction below.

A Leigh Matthews dream, you only get so many Alan Bonds / Collingwood GF's in your lifetime.

I can hear the lead up now...

Can the beleaguered Pies whose scrappy determination not to give up has allowed them to claw their way into finals as the underdogs finally garner a long due revenge for their humiliation at the hands of the salary cap enhanced Lions whose modern descendents have spent the season coasting on privilege and the assumption that the GF yea the Flag itself was somehow their right? Come to G and see if Collingwood can scrape one more fairy tale - a veritable David vs the Brisbane Goliath win for the ages.

Can McRae fly for his fourth flag at the MCG? Once the bane of the Pies Craig has returned to the home not just of football but the happy hunting ground of his youth seeking to join the ranks of those select few have both played and coached for that historic Cup! No one could deny the all around joy for both Collingwood now and Brisbane for the success of a favourite son that would be eclipsed only should the Great Bucks one far off day take the Lions back to the winners circle in a year they truly deserve to be there.

And after the game...

  • Pies soar over hapless Lions
  • Heartbreak for Pies as they lose another GF
  • Are the Collywobbles alive and well?
  • Royal Commission instituted over the state of the AFL (only if they lose of course)

I must admit I thought we were no chance at a flag this season, also before both finals I was not confident at all, never been so happy to be wrong.

I think bringing in Dev for Lyons has been a big turning point, his gut running up and down the field has been outstanding, you will see him pop up in the middle/down back and then 10 seconds later he makes a spoil, takes a mark, creates a contest, puts on pressure up front. The little things add up and make a big difference. Darcy Wilmot has been a great in as well, infectious enthusiasm and run, looks cool and calm.
