Where would Caddy go in 2012

As the Pies now have 2 first rounders it would surprise me if they entered the Caddy race.

Something along the lines of

Picks 17 + 18 for Caddy + player + pick 44

I know a lot of North guys are very keen on Caddy and I am also however hes starting to sound way over-priced + he seems to be holding up a lot of other potential trade business.

So u think the offer was too high or too low?

Hard_to_Beat is just panicked that another club may have put a deal on the table that is better than anything his club could offer. Honestly, say anything in any thread about Caddy maybe not going to North and watch his head explode. It's actually pretty hilarious.

I'd be unhappy with this deal if it happened, but meh. Definitely think that the Saints are paying too much if it's the case.

Fair dinkum this Josh Caddy fella must be the next Ablett, Judd or Pendlebury the way people are going on about him.
Have I missed something?

yeah I would have thought he's still at the stage where he could be the next Ablett, or the next Tambling.
So could three draft picks, but with three draft picks the odds of getting it right improve.

Just for balance, I note that in the Caddy thread on the North board, most of us don't have a clue whether or not we're going to get him, nor are many of us overly fussed about it either way.

Personally, I'd like to see it done, as Caddy looks a player. But what I'd really like is to retain McIntosh.

I suspect I'm bound for disappointment in both cases.

Robbo seems to have failed to grasp the fact that in trading, you start high and work down? :D

GC deserved to get panned for this. They acted like prats last year, which can be excused only because he was contracted. Now they have no excuse. And yes they will have to come down, but starting at such a ridiculous asking price just makes them look delusional.

Its a long trade period...so I think they are doing for entertainment purposes and everyone on bigfooty, it is the centre of all things football afterall

To be honest i would be surprised if Caddy comes to North at this point.
If Gold Coast didn't over complicate things maybe he would.
I think Geelong will get him in the final days of trade period.

Great offer by the saints and GC should have taken it and ran. Maybe the fact that the pick hasn't been allocated is all that is holding up the deal?

The AFL f'd this up, Free Agency should be over now and the picks allocated so trading can get done.

I think the same thing. So I think there's one of three options...

Firstly, what's reported is exactly what happened. I'd be absolutely shocked if GC refused an offer like this, though... Unless they're hoping the Cats give the Gary Compo AND their first rounder just for Caddy - which they've said they're not willing to do according to the news this morning - I can't see how they're planning on getting a better offer than this.

Secondly, Saints have offered it, and GC are waiting to double check if we get the Goddard compo 13 with that knowledge on the table.

Thirdly, Saints never offered it in the first place.

Yes Caddy was a highly rated junior however I think the GC are trying to sell a pony at a thoroughbred price

Caddy's first two years have been pedestrian at best and this is reflected in his 17th placing in this years B&F, no wow factor to his game at all

Buyer beware

A DEAL landing Josh Caddy at Geelong is close after Gold Coast backed down on its original demand for two first-round picks for the talented midfielder.
Both clubs were last night finalising a shuffling of later draft picks expected to clear the way for Caddy to return home to Victoria.
The central piece of the deal is the Cats' first-round compensation

The central piece of the deal is the Cats' first-round compensation selection, which they received for losing Gary Ablett last year.
Should the Caddy trade be done today, the Cats will turn their attention to North Melbourne ruckman Hamish McIntosh, with a deal involving a second or third-round pick going from Geelong to North likely.
EDIT: Missed previous post.

He's off to Carlton now.

Haha wow! This is ridiculous...every journo has a different story. Still think Geelong will get him cause of the compo pick able to be banked.

Cant see Geelong top 4 in the next year, so that would mean off this assumption it might be worth pick 14.

In 2014 Geelong may be out of the top 8, so could be about pick 11 or lower.

All that Robbo said is that Carlton has pick 11, which is fact and not news, and that Caddy has a soft spot for them and could be a late swooper.

There is no information about discussions between the clubs or that they are in negotiations.

So which is it?

One part of the Hun is speculating or the other part is being kept in the dark?
