Which MLB team do you follow?

Hello to the few contributors on this forum. I deleted this thread until I had read through the forum a little.

I noticed the 'baseball is shit' troll and thought a greater presence around here would be desirable, so I have put my hand up to mod this board, at least until a regular baseball nut puts their hand up to mod the board.

I have a passing interest in MLB and having read a few threads am impressed with the knowledge of some of the posters on here. I could learn a thing or two.

In the meantime, this may have been done previously, but for the sake of a new audience, which MLB team do you follow?

I'm a Braves fan from several years back. It was back when Ted Turner and Jane Fonda were turning out at the games, the whole axe chopping motion in the crowd, early 90s I think it was. I was a bit of a David Justice fan back then an remember Chipper Jones, Tom Glavine, Steve Avery I think it was. Also Lemke and Pendleton. I was so enamoured with the greater coverage we had on TV at that time, I also went and bought a baseball game on the Sega Saturn so I could guide the Braves through a season.

I reckon I died off a bit when the coverage faded as happens with the fickleness of TV networks when showing overseas sports. Endeavouring to get back in to it and see what is what these days.

So how many different teams are represented on this board?

I'm a New York Yankees man myself, although I try not to say that too loudly at the moment as we are terrible this year.

Following them for over 40 years, as I grew up just outside Philly. Just a bit too young to remember the horrific 1964 crash- I was all of five....but my loyalties have not wavered, even living all over the country and watching games in many different parks- favourite is Wrigley- the worst was the Metrodome.

Best atmosphere was in Montreal in the late 70s and early 80s when les Expos were challenging in the NL and the Big Owe was rocking with big crowds, a talented team (Rogers, carter, dawson, valentine, Cromartie), an ompah band behind third base and the best smoked beef sandwiches to be had in a park.

My team is the Diamondbacks, however I am a casual fan of MLB (mainly because of my mind being fixed too much on the AFL and other things).

Angels for me. Ive been a fan for 3 years or so, but ive only really been properly interested for this year. It took a while to develop the passion, but now I really have an appreciation for the game. Hope we go deep, should be a real chance to win the lot this year.

I first took an interest in baseball during the 2004 AL and NL Championship Series.

I haven't had Foxtel for a couple of years though so I don't really support anyone actively but I have taken a liking to the New York Mets.

Chicago White Sox.

Saw them in 2 games this week against the Yankees (last week in Yankee Stadium).

Am going to Shea next week to see the Mets vs. Cubs.

Been following Baseball for a few years, watching the playoffs & WS but not full on. Found it difficult to last a whole season. I'm a huge NFL fan so interest drops around August preseason although the playoffs provides great theatre.

Read that great book Moneyball and that sought of re-ignited my interest a few years ago.

I decided to follow one team one year just so I would stick at it. I picked a random team and it happened to be the White Sox. Wouldn't you know it , it was the season they won the WS coming from nowhere. What made it worse is I didn't bet a cent on them!!

I am a fanatical supporter of the LA Angels, and have seen them play many times since 1991.

My all time favorite players for the Halos are Vladdy, Nolan Ryan and Jim Edmonds.

The 2007 & 2008 National League Central Champions, the Chicago Cubs. I've been to 32 games this year. Tomorrow will be my 33rd. Damn. If only they would have waited until tomorrow to clinch...

Hopefully I will be a lottery winner and get to buy tickets for the Playoffs.

I've been a Cubs fan for 39 years, just 8 more than my 31 years as a Bulldogs member.

The day is getting closer...
