Which player will be the "should have retired last season" player this year?

Scott McMahon?

Looking back on the Geelong era from 2007-11, I'd say the only ones that undoubtedly got it right were Ling and Ottens. Others, like Joel Corey and Darren Milburn (who was pretty stiff to miss out on the 2011 flag) weren't too bad, while Harley, Scarlett, Hunt, Rooke, Mooney and Wojcinski all looked past it by the finish. Most (if not all) of the latter group looked as good as ever in their penultimate season though - a couple were even AAs - so it's a very fine line for the player.
McMahon will be gone by the end of the season, the game has passed him by.

We had our share last year in Glass and Cox, but this year I think Pavlich could slow down similar to what happened with Jonathon Brown last year. Other favourites would be Fletcher and Harvey. Fletcher was showing signs last year, Harvey wasn't but you'd think once he starts slowing down it will happen quickly due to the nature of his game.

Worried about Daniel Cross. The change rejuvenated him last year. He was fantastic and probably kicked the ball and moved better than he had for a couple of years at the Dogs. This year he might only be good for 15 games, which is probably still fine for the Demons list, but might tarnish his legacy a bit.

Maybe it's the inflexibility of AFL clubs or contracts or an outdated sense of loyalty from experienced players compared to younger ones but I'm surprised more older players don't move around at prolong their careers. Change is as good as a holiday as they say and a new club can freshen up guys.

I get Dean Cox wanting to go out a one club player but there were some clubs that would've suited him and the same can be said for several players who have either retired or are going on for one more year at clubs that probably don't suit them.

Goodes, Winderlich, Thompson, Newman are all reasonable selections.

From North, I'd throw in Nathan Grima reluctantly. Hardly like his form dictated a thought about retirement at the end of 2014, but he's had injury problems all his career (86 games in 7 seasons and turns 30 this year), and he is out until around June at a minimum. He also spoke of the difficulty of having to go around with a 2nd back surgery. I think if he has further issues with his back, he will give it away. Hope not though.

A few weeks ago I would have said Carrazzo, but he was very handy in the NAB Cup.

A serious injury to him or even Judd could still see either of them make the list though.
NO!!!! Judd will never make this list! Same with Fletcher

Jimmy Gwilt

He really struggled last year and looked to be past it, was surprised when Essendon picked him up after we delisted him but I guess I can understand them picking up some experienced players under their current circumstances just for insurance.
