Its widely known that Worsfold doesn't have the biggest trick bag and about halfway through the 3rd quarter I couldn't help but think if Woosh could swing Hunter into the forward line he would of done it.

In these "Post Hunter" days he clearly doesn't have an effective swing man anymore to bring down from the backline to change it up so what are your thoughts ?

I still think Hurn could be using his devastating kicks onto goal more often than he does now but clearly he doesn't have the marking ability Hunter had.

If you mean in the true Hunter mode, as in someone you need to take pack marks i'd be ruling out both your options. I guess we've tried Brown with limited success and i can't really see who else could give it a crack. Often thought in the past about giving Glass a run up forward but it's fair to say i think that ship has well and truly sailed

TBH i think this weekend showed how stretched our defence can be by decent sides, and to bring a defender forward you need to send a forward back. Who would do that job?

Hunter was quite a rare breed and came on at a very handy time when our side was in its golden era. Somebody like Brown may still have a chance because Hunter didn't really become as important as he was until the 05 era after probably about 6 years on the list. One positive though is our forward line is a lot more potent than it was back then and a substitute could become the alternative to a swing man is some games.

The problem with Brown as a swingman is that he isn't an impact player up forward like Hunter was. Brown's natural role up forward is as a more traditional lead-up CHF where he can use his running and endurance to full effect.
If Kennedy were to go down during a game or Kennedy were to go to FF to replace an injured forward, then Brown could fill that role.

Re: OP
Waters going forward is a good move that has worked before. Can take a big grab, has great tackling pressure and will at the very least make a contest. His decision making/disposal errors will be less detrimental up forward as well.
On the flipside I think Darling swinging back could also be an effective strategy. He seems to have more pace when he's chasing, obviously relishes the contest, loves to tackle, uses his body well and times his aerial attempts very well. Would probably make a gun CHB but he's more valuable to us up the ground.

adam selwood ????
hurn would be devastating around outside the 50m mark..shooting missiles.
need a packmarker, reliable kick,a pressure applier = Darling,Kennedy,Lynch?

Wilson has played in defence in previous years in the wafl. With the injuries to our defence, maybe he could have a go up forward and then swing back or visa versa. Schofield is the only other possible one I can see.

Is a swingman really necessary at the moment? We have Kennedy, Lynch, Darling and Lecras up forward with cameos from Nicoski and others. The swingman worked back in the day because we only had Lynch and Hansen as scoring forwards and if they weren''t "on" then Hunter could add a third option.

If Darling becomes a swing man I will make a thread every fortnight asking for Woosha to be sacked. Clearly going to be a gun forward so why **** with his head and move him down back.

I think with our current forward line we don't need a swing man and that wasn't the reason why we got smashed in that 3rd quarter. Of the options you've put up, Selwood is just wtf??? Hurn of course would be the better of those two but I'd rather see him delivering inside 50 than shooting at goal.

Darling? Already has FF-HF-midfield covered, just needs to be able to go back :p

thats a Swingman!!
Darling would be good..certainly an impact player..upfront he's icing on the top, but at times when needed could afford to swing him back?kennedy might also be as good, leaving Darls up front..Lynch - nup, maybe not versatile enough below knees.(good packbuster, marks, kicks goals..but)
