An article on The Age website notes that 11 players in the Melbourne lineup had a win percentage of only 26% in their careers. This got me thinking about which players in the AFL have the lowest win percentage over 100 games. These would be, as the article says, the game's biggest "institutionalized losers".

Any ideas who that would be?

Here's a good link but the cut off is 50 games I think:

Colin Garland is the worst current 100 gamer for W/L. The worst ever is Bob Sellars of Hawthorn who played over their first decade (1925-34). He finished with 10 wins, 87 losses, 1 draw for a 10.71% record.

My WAG- Brent Moloney. Went from Melbourne to Brisbane at the wrong time. Is he still around? I thought I heard he was playing in the NEAFL?

If one were to use something like 5 years as a cut-off (a couple inaugural and regular Giants would be below 20% at the moment, particularly if injured for a few of the wins this year), Nathan Jones would certainly be up there. He debuted in late 2006 and played a couple games, just as Melbourne started to drop off a little in the run home to finals that year. Then 2007-2014 has obviously been fairly miserable. He is below 25%.

Tom Scully is currently 19 wins from 86 career games, which is even worse than Jones. 8 of those wins were in 2010, and 1/2 of his games in 2011 were wins as well, so it could've been a lot worse.

For players over the 150 game threshold, Nathan Jones is a lot worse off than Brent Moloney.

For someone not involved with Melbourne or the expansion clubs, Maister is currently 36%, and only has had one year of 4+ wins in his career to date.

Matthew Warnock might be the worst, given he has been in the system for a decade and is barely over 20%.

Prior to 2014 he was on 18.5% winning percentage.

Jonathon Giles having 5 career wins after initially being drafted in 2005 (despite spending 2 years outside of AFL) is also bad on face value.

If you wanted industrialised losers then look back to the St Kilda teams of late 70s early 80s. There are a few who make Nathan Jones look alright, Robert Elphingstone had 33 wins in 157 games
Mean't to be Jones ?
If he doesn't win too many more James and the umpires crack down on his diving forward when someone tackles him he might change his name

Vaguely related question: Hasn't Adam Schneider played in five grand finals (if you count the drawn game in 2010) for just the one flag?

What's the record for the most losing grand final appearances? That would have to be close, surely? (Poor guy!)
