For us here in the west..........Lachy Reid hands down. You may have seen him on the boundary on some FOX games.

He also does a show with another idiot (Tim Gossage) called the "Western Front".

Suffice to say.....not one of the other 14 teams are even pronounced on the show.

Lachy is this balding little tubby **** who only just stops short of going down on every Docker and Eagle he interviews.

His knowledge is woeful and he typifies the 'insular' Perth mentality so many of us are desperately trying to eradicate.

**Honourable mention to Basil Zempilas....this is what a blouse looks like masquerading as a human being.

Lachy Reid is a total w***er and fool. His displays on the Western Front are laughable.
A close mate of mine was umpiring his indoor cricket game about a month ago and he totally spat the dummy with a couple of close calls. "You f'ing ******** sitting up there." Delivering massive sprays. Maggot of the highest order.

Andrew Hamilton.

Has a deep loathing for the Lions and burnt all his bridges during the Aker-saga. He is the head AFL journalist for the Courier Mail somehow. His best column of the year had to be when he implored all readers not to watch the Lions play the Eagles as it was going to be a "bloodbath", but instead urged all Brisbane residents to tune into the "titanic" battle between Hawthorn and Adelaide.

So much for promoting the game up north. Typical News Ltd stance on AFL - saturate the sport with league and union, and have an absolute hack who hates the local team to cover the AFL.

I do love how opposition supporters base trade scenarios and player rumours on the dribble that comes out of Hamilton's mouth. Rest assured, if he reports a Lions' player "wants out", "is looking for more opportunities", or "wants to go home", chances are they are just about to re-sign.

See Charman, Selwood, Notting, Clark, Hadley, McGrath, Sherman, Rischitelli, Patfull, and McDonald for evidence. Most of these re-signed days after being linked to another team.

We don't have any really credible football writers as such here now given the demotion in standard of the sport in this region, it's more mainly local football reporters.
But David Stockdale from the Mercury was one absolute blockhead from the past.
Tried to put himself out there as a controversial know-all, when most of the time he got his material and terminology from big-city journos to try and make himself look more of a pro.
Hated by Southern TFL fans and when the statewide league came in, by Northern and Coastal ones as well.
It was his daily whingeing in the Mercury, and incessant writing on the politics of the sport, trying to get clubs to merge or fold etc instead of writing about the football itself that turned fans off TFL footy which in the end resulted in the league falling over.
Was SERIOUSLY unpopular at my old club after a series of articles he published in The Mercury virtually willing the club to fold just so it would get rid of the bye in the competition - was warned he'd be attacked if he set foot in the place.

5AA is a wasteland, and the Roger Wills and Peter Walsh are just terrible.
Roger Wills I don't mind, I'm that ancient I can still remember Wills commentating TANFL matches on ABC television on a show called Who Won? Why?.
Peter Walsh is good in that he's a very enthusiastic caller, but I can remember him from his days when he called TFL Football on ABC Radio in Tasmania (7ZR, 7NT & 7QN) and he was pious, arrogant prick to be brutally frank.
Between Walsh and Neville Oliver (the former ABC cricket commentator) it would usually turn into a North Launceston wankfest every week - Oliver was disgracefully biased in calling.
Walsh was transferred to Adelaide not long after his infamous on-air stunt prior to a Statewide league match at North Hobart in the mid-90's, when he announced that both Hobart and Sandy Bay Football Club's had announced overnight that they would merge and call themselves Port Hobart (which was a hoax).
The news caught everyone by surprise - the television media dispatched camera crews to York Park in Launceston to interview the Hobart president who knew absolutely nothing of it (and who was verbally attacked by several Hobart supporters up at the ground on the day), the WIN camera crew were almost killed in an accident on the way back from Launceston.
And then there was news that at least three elderly supporters of Hobart and Sandy Bay had suffered heart attacks after hearing the news on the broadcast.
Wasn't his most glorious moment and he got hauled over the coals by ABC management over that allegedly - not to mention the widespread condemnation over his stunt.
Bit of a shame really, because as much of a pompous arseclown that he could be a lot of the time, he was a fantastic promoter of the sport here.

Oh yes - I heard him once - I can see why people don't like him.

2. Dwayne Russell. Speaks for itself.
It does. Mark McClure on ABC radio in Melbourne is even worse - dreadful.

In Victoria the legendary Phil Cleary wins hands down. Verbal diarrhea.
I think he's most probably a really good bloke but I could not stomach anymore of 'Awwwwwwwwwww geeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!' and 'When I used to play for Coburg and I was in front of the Norm Goss Stand and awwwwww geeeeeeeez those Borough fans were naaaaasty!' and other associated little pearls of wisdom that we were fed each Saturday when we were forced to put up with VFL matches shown here rather than our own football.
I see that they kicked him out of the commentary box this season and sat on the boundary instead LOL.

Michealangelo Rucci....Cheif Football Writer of The Advertiser....also Port Adelaide's Official Historian...he has more conflicts of interest than Eddie McGuire, and does a poor job in remaining unbiased...

He alerted the AFL on Bryce Gibbs eligibility for Father/Son...But let it slip when he discovered Brett Ebert didnt qualify

In his blog on Adelaidenow he, appoitned partial blame for Ports record loss to Geelong to Adelaide...ie we should of helped Port beat Geelong given them an insight into some tactics, even theough the Cats beat us TWICE this year...On the same blog and in previous ones, he only answers when a Crows person criticises him or Port Adelaide...Never offers anything constructive, just comments along the lines of "dust off your 98 DVD". He also has an obsession with people not showing up to Crows games, even though they are a sell out, but lets it slip that Port never ahve a sell out and average around the 30,000 mark in a 51,500 seat stadium....I could go on but dont have time...

However on the rare occasions he doesnt write with his chip on his shoulder showing, he does give some good insights...However this is quite rare...

Living in the West, We seem to have a stable of dud media people....

1) Kim Hagdorn
2) Basil Zemplis
3) Karl Langdon-on the wce payroll (only on WCE/Freo issues-he is normally good on other issues)
4) Barra-- agenda driven.Loves playing the East vrs West angle.
5) Drew Banfield--- proves not all WCE players are made for media.
6) Peter Vhlaos - My sources say "his famous quote" they never come true.
7) Gary Stocks - uses stand over tactics in his role.
8) Ch 7 Perth- Biased station. has a severe conflict of interest.
10) Ken Judge --- enough said.

WA State of SubStandard Media.
