Carlton have better young kids than we do right now, arguing against that is just stupid. We have no one even remotely close to Weitering Sam Walsh or McKay… add in Curnow if he gets fit.

we have a lot of kids but our established talent under 24 is bottom 2 in the entire afl, this is a fact.
I just can't fathom how people think we have a better list than Carlton. I'm just not sure of people are taking the piss or not. Our recruitment has been a shambles and it's going to take a long time to get it right.

Lists change every year. This year Carlton apparently have a better list. Where has it got them?

Weitering will be 24 in a couple of months.

Darcy is only 25. Drawing the line to include their not-quite AA defender and omit our actual AA defender is a clear attempt to rig the data.

I don't know why a Collingwood supporter would want to do that.

Quaynor's a very exciting guy in that under 24 category you've invented. And considering he hasn't played a single full season yet, Noble's very promising too.

If you can't already see the promise displayed by Henry, I don't know what to tell you.

If you consider that Weitering and Walsh went to the Blues because they are a horrible club who couldn't make finals even with a bunch of pre-existing Number 1 picks, and had to be given more while we were contesting in preliminary finals and even a grand final, they bloody well ought to have more promising youth, but I don't even think they do. Unless you arbitrarily exclude the likes of Darcy Moore but include Mr Weitering, of course

I view gun mids as easily the most crucial pieces, so I'd give the nod to the Blues due to Walsh (I think Stocker will be very good too), but otherwise agree. Maybe JDG can improve and even the ledger there anyway - he's the same draft as Moore.

Try and get him, if we can’t move on. Realistically lightning rarely strikes twice.

How many premiership coaches fail elsewhere?

Drafting and list management is very important to coaches, just see Hawks position now. Don’t expect Clarkson to do absolute wonders

Expectations on Clarko where ever he goes and Coaches be So Huge and setup for Disappointment

Objectively the Blues have a better list today than we do. Who knows what happens 6 months down the line though.

Nick Daicos next year.

unfortunately Ingy and captain magpie have been drinking the koolaid a bit too long and have lost a grip on reality, or in the laters case admit they don’t even watch other teams but still argue anyway… I mean seriously, compare Walsh Weitering McKay Curnow Stocker to … Daicos Quaynor Noble? Brown? Mcreery?

Nick Daicos next year.
I think we can be very competitive over the next few years if just a couple of things go right. I'm hoping this year was just a blip. It's not uncommon for a finals team to have one down year and bounce straight back up. To me the bigger issue is going to be in about 4 years time when Adams, Crisp, Grundy, Moore, JDG, Elliott, Mihocek and Maynard have probably all begun their decline or have declined. Sidey, Pendles, Howe, and Roughy will be gone and a lot of the kids won't have fully come through yet.

so Weitering is 23 and Moore is 25 but including one without the other when talking about youth only is rigging? Interesting.

quaynor is a good small defender, Carlton have a young AA superstar winning the Coleman called McKay and Sam Walsh who could easily win a Brownlow… tell me which of our kids compete with those 2 right now or admit your argument is idiotic.
Takes more than 2 gun players to win a flag.

Sam Walsh is as good a young player for his age as I have ever seen. No club has his like, it isn't just us. On the other hand though, Cripps, who should be entering the prime of his career, looks a bit broken, and if I was a prospective new coach that would worry me. Two players doesn't make a list. You are setting up the argument to make Collingwood lose. Again, I don't understand why a Collingwood supporter is doing that. I am more inclined to look at players like Dow and Stocker that have cost Carlton quite a bit in the draft and haven't measured up, compared to our capacity to find guys like Noble in the mid-season draft who if anything has over-performed so far. Which other club has over thirty games into the guy they picked up halfway through last year?

When did Harry McKay make the AA team? Are we trading on futures here? Weitering hasn't made the AA team either. Moore has though.

Please note that I am not saying that our list youth is better than Carlton's. But the difference is nowhere near as wide as you are trying to pretend is it. I don't think your argument is idiotic because I don't think its flaws are caused by stupidity. I think it's something much worse than that

Probably a bit hard on Maynard as he is only 24yo

too true Jmac, was just pointing out the idiotic argument that our kids are better than other teams who have 3-4 kids playing at AA standard while we have zero. People need to get realistic otherwise the next few years are going to hurt a lot more.
I just hope we get the best coach possible, and get the board sorted. From there anything is possible.
