I actually don't want Clarko. I'd rather have someone starting out on their senior journey, so we can all grow and learn together, rather than someone who might be in a rush for success. I don't think Clarko suits where we are at. I'd rather have someone who Clarko used to be before he went to hawks, who Hardwick used to be before he went to richmond, who Simpson used to be etc. I want the start of something.

Excellent. I don't want Clarkson either for the same reasons (plus I don't rate him as a guy). I know he has grown into a fine coach but he was a little dirty sniper on the field and that's how I remember him.

We want the best fit for the club given our circumstances. A person with the right attributes and experience to go on a journey with the kids and build something.

Yes!
The best coach for a team/club isn't necessary the best coach out there. But the best coach that suits us. That's not Clarko IMO.

I am quite sold on McRae right now. But would be happy with some other options.

And It’s in the top echelon of difficult jobs... kangas, Dogs, Saints are lower profile jobs

Not sure that coaches would see it that way?

Do you think Beveridge, who has immortalised himself in Bulldogs folklore by delivering their second Premiership ever, would be looking over at the Collingwood role with envy?

Doubt it.

but historically the pies are patient with their coaches

True.

The pies are already a bottom 4 team. Everyone here expects an equally dour 2022-to mid 2023... so i reckon the coach gets a good 18months before results are more of a focus

Wait, what?!? Everyone? …

I mean they’ll be people that write the new coach off in his first week as soon as teams are announced

… ah, that’s better!

But you’d take the Collingwood job over the Carlton one. Carlton have more board instability, similar salary cap issues... especially if they get Cerra... and will expect a top 8 finish next year

Nah, IMO Carlton would be better.

Get Collingwood to the finals in 2022 and the natives would be satisfied.
Get Carlton to the finals in 2022 and the natives would name their first borns in your honour. It’ll be free pizzas up and down Lygon St for life.

I think quite a few dirty little snipers on the field went on to be good coaches.

Just from his story, has decent experience and seems like someone that can get the best out of players. But is very unknown, so it would be a risk.
And whether or not he can handle a big club.

I'm good with Clarko. But I agree with the growing together with a young team point. Hence why I like McRae & Caracella.
Looking forward to hearing soon I would imagine.

Jen on another matter. Can I ask a question as an avid track watcher that you are?
When our guys do goal kicking practice do they have any coaches going over their routine & pulling them up when the move off their correct line etc?
Because if they are left to practice goal kicking by themselves, then they are simply practising bad technique. We don't seem to coach on an individual level at the pies any more. I hope that changes with the new coach as well. Help young players iron out deficiencies in their disposal & don't leave them to master it themselves.

No.
They just told to do some goal kicking practice. I don't recall anyone being pulled up or talked to about going about it.

Wow!!!!!! - And we wonder why our guys struggle with goal kicking & foot skills.

You'd rather Madgen Noble JT and C Brown than Curnow Jack Martin Saad and Williams, ok you are entitled to your opinion
Whilst there might be merit to the argument that Carlton have a better list than ours, you’re de-legitimising your argument by comparing our fringe players to their highly paid best 22 stars/recruits.

I'm not here for an argument, I said I know what list I'd rather have. List!!! Look we are in a rebuild and Blues have under achieved which makes me happy. I don't give a rats about what they pay their players.
Yes you are. Surely you weren’t expecting universal agreement with this nonsense you’ve written?

I think this is common throughout the AFL.
That‘s how the ‘around the corner’ kicks have come to dominate.
Players are left to their own choices.
I agree it’s an issue to be addressed.

Just something I've been wondering whose conducting the exit interviews for the players? They need to be done this week and we don't have the next coach in place and assuming it's not Harvey. If Wright is involved in that could that slow down the coaching decision?
