But what is the point in asking it if no Collingwood supporter had suggested it.

Seems to be a deflection to me...

For a team that has played in more than one third of all Grand Finals contested, and has contended for the premiership on 9 separate occasions since Carlton last have, do you really think any Collingwood supporter would regard a 9th place finish as 'serious footy'?
Fudger just answer the question please

The context in which the word was used inferred it was a continuation of the 'serious footy' they have already been playing.

Your second definition is in no way relevant to the comment posted by the Carlton supporter.

I hope they provide bulk discounts for Carlton supporters to the remedial English classes.
The 2nd part didn't apply obviously, context

The poster was implying that the Blues had played serious football recently and had another 3 years of it in them

Not a huge stretch for others to suggest the poster was doubling up after 3 years of unusually high finishes by Carlton's standards

2024 was a disapointing year for Carlton supporters - however the bright side is that some of the factors contributing are unlikely to repeat themselves ..I disagree with your interpretation of the meaning of the word another in the context it was used - but there is no need for people to suggest that Carlton suppporters need remedial English classes is there?

Another in the context of the post is better interpreted as meaning 3 more years of better performance at least is to be expected from this developing Carlton list and by the looks of the quality of youth that Club has invested in for the longer term - 3 years is conservative.

Cripps - 3 more years - easy
Hewett 2-3 years
Acres 2-3 years
Walsh Cerra 6 more
TDK 6 more
Smith 10
and then

Lord
2X Camporeles
HOK ( ruck in development)
+ 2X Hollands

Coming soon to terrorise you soon son of A Walker absolute gun already.

It is called depth and duration fellas.

Slightly off topic, but there's credence in this video................. and lots of holes as well........ imho.

I don't know this guy or how good an analyst he is, none the less there's some good arguments for why Collingwood could contend for the flag.

And like I said, probably lots of holes in his assessment as well

BF posters, give us your judgement.

So it's gone from 'another 3 years of serious footy' to 'another 3 years of better performance', in which case the inclusion of the word 'another' is incorrect and redundant.

You're bullish about having 2 to 3 more years from a couple of C Graders in Hewett and Acres, and 6 players who are yet to prove a thing at the level, from the 14 players listed.

All Carlton have done with their list decisions this off season is minimise the risk of bottoming out again in the medium term, at the expense of building a list to give them the best chance to contend for a premiership in the immediate term.

Hard to argue with any of that.

Nice to see some unbiased, objective analysis.

Adjectives are often labelled as redundant variables in prose - that is a matter of taste.

The points made about players availability speaks to the duration of the current list an extension of the discussion regarding better football going forward

Regarding point three - Carlton have extended the duration of depth in the list by significantly improving the number and quality of developing players on the list a point I made quite clearly - your perfunctory conclusions are your own and I therefore dismiss them accordingly.
