You missed on your gotcha moment mate just be a grown up and cop, the best 4 teams play in the prelims, if a team is beaten the previous week it's not in the best 4 teams, pretty simple i reckon.

Alternatively, they were THIRD BEST if we consider the results after the finals, and not consider the opposition each of the respective teams had in the finals.
The above obviously is in the world of the Carlton supporter base, who are still coming to grips with how the finals system works, after it being so long since they've finished top 4 or genuinely contended for the premiership.
Unfortunately for the Pies, they are well down the pecking order as a contender

I would go:
1. Brisbane
2. Sydney (they were top for most of the year and beat GWS in a final)
=3. Geelong and GWS (strong finals performances from both teams).
They were your 4 genuine premiership contenders in 2024.
