Who Wont Be At West Coast Next Year???

Does anyone think Armstrong can play in a back pocket like Banfield used to? Can he take the best small forward? I think Hurn is very good at it with his speed and kicking out from full back but would like him to play more midfield.. When we start officially rebuilding Hurn should play midfield and learn some lessons..

We have Nicoski, Kerr, Bones and Hurn in particular, but 3 of them are low on form

He'll still be with us next season. He is progressing steady but progressing nevertheless. He was always going to be a long term project player. He has some wonderful physical attributes.

Thomson from memory is 194cm and must be very mobile... Do you think he could ever tag at AFL level?... I think hes being used as a tagger to teach him how to play... I hope he doesn't end up another Staker, or compete with Spangher, Schofield, McKenzie, Graham. Hunter, Glass and Brown for this ogre backline we seem to be creating...

It going to be a huge achievement if he can make it in the midfield or on a wing... Not too many 194cm guys can do that..

I'm hoping
Graham (delist, i wish we could trade him but who hell would want him)
Fletcher (delist, thanks for 2006)
Armstrong (delist)
Hansen (Traded)
are all gone at the end of the year

I think we are going to get some good picks this year so need to trade everyone for em.
People you are joking about trading kerr, are you out of your minds?

Don't think Kerr will ever be traded BUT if he did want to go (he is contracted)-
I would trade him for Daniel Rich (Pick 1 or 2) would anyone else???

odds are that we will have a pick within striking distance of rich (2-5) and we could always trade someone like seaby to get us the couple of places higher if we needed them. It looks like natanui will go number one, especially when considering that melbourne will need a replacement for jeff white soon, and already have a young midfield with the likes of maclean, jones, sylvia, petterd and morton in there. They also may look at hurley as they will need to replace robbo and neitz soon. Carlton would probably look at hurley as they need KPP's and their midfield is full. Richmond have foley, tambling (lol), cotchin, deledio and co and would probably look at either hurley or natanui. Him slipping to 3 or 4 would certainly not be out of the question

we wont get rich as the team will improve and string some games together, so will be pushing for 8th place but proberly finish a few games short. Which is what you want as it will mean the youngsters are improving and contributing to the teams succees in the future

haha you can just tell as soon as brauny gets back into some form everyone will be like "i love brauny!!!!!!!!! i never doubted him for a second....oh besides me calling for his axing week in week out! hope he plays on a few more years, hooray!"

guys, braun is still good. he was near BOG in round 1, one of our best in round 2, had a shithouse derby, couldnt get into the game against sydney (like the rest of our players that night) and was serviceable against port. give it a rest.

same goes for fletcher, seriously i hate you guys.

Top post anti:thumbsu:

I think Braun could become the new Rojo(and yes, I mean he'll become the scapegoat), creating a link in the midfield and forward half, and providing all the blocks for Kerr, Priddis, etc.

Fletcher's disposal against Port was amazing, I thought he was another player half the time, and he actually ran and tried to create.

His stint in the WAFL did him good, but the idiots on this site and at the games will never be able to see that, just as they didn't with Rojo:thumbsdown:

youth is always the word. apparently its the source of all things good. we've already got enough young players in at the moment.

Gasp! But the older players are complete duds! I mean, sure, they're all champs who are just down on form, but if they're not performing then surely we should drop/delist them all and draft 10 Under 19yo players, right?

wouldn't mind seeing us field offers for hunter. Might be able to nab someone like roughead from hawthorn as they need KP backmen. Put Brown as the CHB swingman who can go forward, with glass and spangher as fullback and back pocket. Then Bones could cover any other talls. Jaymie graham should be traded, as he is going to be overtaken by schofield, mackenzie etc in the near future. I think we should persist with butler, as that great season he has in 06, he was only 20 years old and i think if he could get back in the team, fit and healthy, he could be a lenny hayes quality mid (B+). The club should start examining the viability of lynch as a backup ruck option so we could consider trading seaby. Seaby (with a sweetener) would probably get us a pick between 8 and 15 which would allow us to get someone like yarran, swift or deboer in the first round.
Hit list should be:
One inside semi receiver (daniel rich/yarran)
One crumber who could add pace to midfield (varcoe/gartlett)
One outside mid with pace (wells/deboer)
One QUALITY KP forward (Hurley/roughead)

Whats all this trading hunter, he is a legend and won us a couple of finals in 05 and 06. if they would put him in one possie he would dominate but no they mix and matxch all the ____ing time

Brown will be bigger, more athletic and better. He will be able to hold his own against big KP forwards which hunter can't. Gotta look to the future. We are rebuilding, Hunter is about to turn 27 and by the time we are in premiership contention he will be well past it and on te downward slope. If he was traded, we could give a kid a more extended run at holding down that position. Mackenzie, brown and schofield will be pushing for selection and they are younger and in my opinion, will be more talented. The earlier we do it, the longer that our ounger players have to adjust and mould to that position.

I really don't understand why everyone doesn't seem to care about Armstrong??
I thought he wasn't too bad on the weekend, and he certainly hasn't been that bad this year, or in previous years.

I think he is quite handy for us to have in our team and seems to have a bit of passion... no?

Armstrong is great. Is not a class player by any stretch, but tries his heart out and always plays for the team. Of course a lot of people aren't interested in that.

As for beatlesmith's comments; Brown is coming off a knee constuction, which will stunt his development by at least a year, if not more, and he was nowhere near ready to hold down a KP, so getting rid of Hunter is stupid at this point.

I don't think Hunter can play on the good CHF's, i think he has lost some pace and is just not big enough.. Franklin, Mooney, Lucas, Pavlich etc will kick goals on him.. with our turnovers you can't run off these players (also lack of midfield pressure means better passes to the forwards and our backmen have to be very close).. Often we are now seeing Brent Jones (speed) at times manning these players.. Hunter is not worthless and still useful to the team but I think with a strong draft and our plethora of key backman if the right trade was availlable I would do it..

hunter would have to be the most overrated player on the eagles list.and for all his bluster hes soft as butter.armstrong stood his ground and took the hit for the team'he stays.i hear a lot about lynch trying his guts out and getting poor delivery but he puts his head on his chest and does the old token chase.in the last 40mns he actually started to hit the packs again.something he hasnt done since early07.the mans a monster if he cant throw his weight around why have him.
