I'll give you Sammy. He was a delight to watch this year even if somewhat past it.

But Priddis? Ask anyone on our board and they'll tell you he was one of our worst this year. He regressed in nearly every statistic and his slowness (combined with Sammy) killed us on the rebound. We played 10 times better when he was out of the side.

This is also coming from one of his biggest fans, so I can tell you first hand how hard it was to watch.

Priddis was the best The Eagles had during the finals though. Second best at worst vs Port and easily their best vs GWS, seriously just think about that for a second.

He will be missed!

If anyone is interested, this is how the last edition (started 2012) went: https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/thre...ser-to-a-flag-west-coast-or-fremantle.973048/. Both teams have gone to a granny since then but obviously missed out on ultimate glory.

West Coast haven't yet begun their next full rebuild, which imo they need to, so I'll say Freo as we're about to hit yr 3 of ours ;) Things can change quickly though, and I don't think WC need to overturn as much of their list as we did.

It doesn't matter if he regressed, he was still one of your best, a point you guys don't seem to be able to grasp at the moment, no matter how bad you think those two were, they were still your two best midfielders, and if they can apparently be so bad yet do so well in your BnF voting, then maybe you guys are in for a lot more hurt then we think.

How long is the MCG hosting rights for the GF agreement?

What was it that Chris Connelly said about Freo vs St Kilda circa 2004? ‘Ali vs Frasier for the next 10 years’?...

Funny how things change pretty quickly when the time comes to deliver results.

What was it Worsfold said when Freo came into the competition?

Still doesn't compensate for the other 22 games of the season.

No, he wasn't one of our best. Far from it actually.

Take a look at our away game against the Bulldogs and you'll see we played much better without Priddis in the side.

Unless you seriously believe either can win in the next four years, then this is a meaningless question.

And no, I don't believe either can win in the next four years.
12 months ago did you think Richmond would won? Or be or that Bulldogs? Anyone can win it...except freo

So a sample size of one game is enough to say that you guys are better off without Mitchell and Priddis? The fact they both finished top10 in your best and fairest is an indication that for the whole season, the coaches rated there performances across 22 games and two finals.

I think you guys are underselling what those two brought to your team and there performances as a whole, both played exclusively midfield, and as inside midfielders at that feeding to the likes of Gaff and Shuey, we went through the same thing when we lost Tuck and Jackson, two average midfielder's, but midfielders who played a role to make others around them better, we took a long time to rectify that mistake by not covering for there loss.

I wouldn't be quoting the BnF as it can be heavily skewed to those that play the most games, but yeah, the coaches backed Priddis in constantly, and it frustrated the fans more and more as the season wore on.

His weaknesses outweighed his strengths this year. We effectively played 2 men down each match because Priddis and Mitchell couldn't keep up with their man; we got burnt on the spread numerous times this year for being too slow, adding to our fatigue as the match wore on.

And that one sample shows how we played without him, keeping up with a speedier unit in the Bulldogs.

I thought Sammy had a good season, and I would have preferred if we just played him over Priddis for midfield balance.

I'm not underestimating him. Priddis is one of my favourite players, and I kept hoping for the entire season that he would come good, but he never did.

Fremantle will likely field one of the fastest teams in the competition next year.

B.Hill, S.Hill, Bennell, Walters, Neale, A.Pearce, Wilson, Matera and Grey.

While it’s obvious that Fremantle have a more talented list, I’d say that West Coast has far superior key position players.

If Fremantle has a full list to choose from they could finish in the lower part of the top eight. Especially if Fyfe and Sandilands are both playing near their best.

Freo are further into their rebuild so they are closer. We are just starting.

Clubs in rebuild mode don't trade away next year's first round pick, especially in a super draft. WC are just a little off the pace and just need to go hard at a bit more depth like Ah Chee. Maybe get an end of 1st round for Gaff. Is Masten tthd?

Who is covering the loss of two former Brownlow medalists? Ah Chee?

You reflecting Freos experience when age caught up with Pav - like NicNat our first 2016 draftee didnt get on the field in 2017, midfielder Dan Venables or 2016 mature age draftee in Willie Rioli - any club needs a bit of luck with injuries, & when you need to play the #5 & 6 choice ruckmen, its not easy.

Too early to tell but the Eagles will be in the battle for the 8 in 2017, & when you get there .....

We started our rebuild this year when our selectors decided to draft the players that we did instead of targeting midfielders.

Though disappointed at first pretty happy that we got this year's;

- Larke Medalist & U18 AA Full Forward
- U18 AA CHF
- U18 AA Centre
- WAFL leading goal kicker

Before our next tilt we'll need to find a replacement for Kennedy and some A Grade midfield talent.

Freo will need to replace Sandilands, Johnson and to a lesser extent Mundy. They will also need to find key forwards and backs as they are poor in that area.

I think it's pretty close as to who's closer due to midfielders taking less time to develop than KP's and we need to find them before either side can consider themselves be contenders again.

I do like Freo's onballers though in a couple of years time. If the 2 from this year can live up to expectations they will be very, very good through the midfield.

You can win premierships with a good midfield and ordinary forwards like we did in 2006.

Each year WCE and Freo seem to be able to lure in a FA so if either team gets lucky and scores a Hogan (Dees supporters don't get your jimmies rustled I'm only using as an example) or the like then either team might only be a couple of years away.
