Fremantle will likely field one of the fastest teams in the competition next year.

B.Hill, S.Hill, Bennell, Walters, Neale, A.Pearce, Wilson, Matera and Grey.

While it’s obvious that Fremantle have a more talented list, I’d say that West Coast has far superior key position players.

If Fremantle has a full list to choose from they could finish in the lower part of the top eight. Especially if Fyfe and Sandilands are both playing near their best.

West Coast showed they could be a very good side in 2015, I am not sure what happened in 2016 & this year to be honest. An apparent lack of depth in the midfield as some have suggested has obviously hurt them, and they haven't really addressed that that vigorously in the off season which I am surprised about.

KP stocks are great, but they're running out of time with JK, the best FF in the game. They'd want to win a flag with him around.

What is it with Dee supporters not liking WCE?

It's not like we kept beating you in finals because you've hardly been in any.

As we also played our best game of the season against the hawks in the subi final in 2015 without priddis.

Priddis is as much a hindrance as a help - if he gets first hands - away we go - fantastic

If we dont or theres a turnover - we are a man down defensively as he gets left further and further behind the play defensively

We would literally play a spitter on the defensive side of the centre in case this happened.

We understood that if our mids werent there already - if dugg, sheed, sneeze, redden et al dont come on

Then its time to rebuild

This draft was never going to fix our midfield in time for nn and kennedy.

We have drafted for that eventuality.

Freo will need to replace Sandilands, Johnson and to a lesser extent Mundy. They will also need to find key forwards and backs as they are poor in that area.

Hamling, Pearce, Ryan, Logue make for a decent size group of defenders with Johnson still to play this year. Alex Pearce and Hamling are very capable of CHB, FB roles.
Cox has a great set of hands for a forward, Taberner improves each year, we still don't know what McCarthy will bring as a mobile med-tall while Kersten is serviceable. Hugh Dixon looks a lump of a lad with exciting attributes and Apeness may surprise us by getting on the park a bit.
Shaun Darcy showed a bit last year on ball and has shown enough in the WAFL to say he can take a grab down forward.
Its not awe inspiring but there's a bit there to work with.

Fremantle fans won't agree because they think the sun shines out his arse, but their biggest problem is the coach. They have a ridiculous amount of midfield talent that would be the envy of most teams in the league:

Fyfe, Neale, Bennell, B Hill, S Hill, Mundy, Walters.

That's a fair set of inside and outside quality. Chuck Wilson as running drive from half back and Ballantyne and Matera as goal sneaks, and you have the recipe for an extremely fast, highly attacking team.

But instead they continue to produce tepid, low scoring football because Lyon has no clue on how to develop consistently high scoring teams. Maybe he'll figure it out in the next few years, but I wouldn't bank on it.

It's obvious Freo have a more talented list? WC had 3 All Australians last year, with an AA ruckman to come back in and one of the best forwards in the modern era. To say Freo have a more "obviously" talented list is just not correct. For all we know, Freo's new draft picks could be duds. Logical progression every year till a flag is the ideal for every team, but for 80% of the clubs, this isn't a reality. IMO, neither side is close, and you can't predict anything atm.
