He isn't going to push Matera, Bennell or Walters out as smalls. We need height and contested marking up forward, so one of Cox/Taberner, plus our resting ruckman to play those roles.

That leaves McCarthy as the medium/third tall, and frankly, he's a much more talented footballer.

I'll say it again. Wouldn't get a game for us.

I admire your ability in the middle of the cricket season to find the enthusiasm for such aggressive trolling.

We've not won a flag and neither have you. 1966 was the VFL, a state league. If you want to compare, Fremantle won the state league (WAFA) eight times between 1886 and 1898.
The flags are recognised as premierships or flags by the AFL

Does the AFL officially recognise the WAFA premierships? Let alone the join the dots between the disbanded Fremantle union's football club to the Fremantle dockers almost 100 years later?

Is that where freo fans are going now claiming another clubs flags? Peel would have been a better argument.

VFL is not the AFL and even if you do count the VFL(which is only a Vic thing) the Saints are the club at the moment with the longest history of not winning a flag. 52 years is a long time between drinks. Given the 52 years in the wilderness by the Saints the probability of them winning a flag is next to nil. Like I said forget the Freo obsession and worry about where your club is heading.
Lol no we aren't. Wrong. We are not the longest active drought.

Some solid arguments in this thread. Embarrassing.

Doesnt change the fact.1966 was the VFL, a state league. If you want to compare, Fremantle won the state league (WAFA) eight times

Umm Dockers were formed to compete in the AFL.
Nothing to do with the WA state league bar sharing the location name. Where as the Saints have been the same club all the way through.
Would be like the Giants claiming any Western Sydney SydneyAFL titles...

It's not strange logic at all. It's fact. I would have thought it's pretty straight forward logic but you're now the 2nd freo fan to challenge it in this thread.

Can you tell me when freo will win a flag? If you cannot tell me that how can you determine how close you are to it compared to other clubs?
You are an idiot aren't you , I cannot tell you when any team will win one !I have at no stage said that i am closer than any team to winning a flag , you have suggested that we can't ever do it because to this stage we haven't you argue that you have already done it , 30 years before Fremantle entered the competition with 6 fewer sides competing . As far as i'm concerned only sides that have won one since 96 can say Hey Freo we are one up on you . All others are 22 yrs and counting adrift the same as Freo. And until 16 & 17 the Bulldogs and Tigers were on that list . I am not going to reply to whatever comment you make , I don't suffer fools well

Freo fans are way too harsh on darling. They'd kill to have him
Some of us would quit the club if that scumbag joined us.
Yes, he can play, most times, except when he poops his pants onfield, but I refuse to even write the name of that piece of excrement

After 28 pages of committed, unadulterated shitposting you've finally done it - most posts (62 and rising) in a Freo thread yet again. That makes all of them.

Bravo sir, your dedication to obsessing over our team is truly unparalleled.

LOL @ Darling not getting a game for Fremantle.

In any given year there are about 20 40-goal players. They all get a start at every team in the competition.

But with old mate Ross in charge what he may not get at Fremantle is any goals.

I reckon 5,000 of his 8,000 odd posts are Freo hate rants , BTW Melbourne have the longest drought since 1964

I wouldn't say that. You are dropping back senior blokes to get the results

Maybe they were doing this...

You more are coaching them to AFL football. It's about structure, game plan and being able to run out games. It's about competing. Winning is a nice bi product but it's an after thought.

I have no doubt it's part of the club identifying that the successful sides more often than not had won flag(s) in the feeder comps. The problem is they didn't over engineer it, it happened naturally. They also had a more even competition. Not an 11m salary cap vs a 250k salary cap.

3 +30yo potatos, 7 first and second year rookies and Taberner, Sutcliffe, Sheridan and Nic ****in Suban, if that's engineering a flag when they have $11M at their disposal, then he needs to be sacked, immediately!!!

Recent pronouncement from the obsessed one, also part of the deluded brotherhood (thanks Esti):
It was my opinion they would. I never said it was fact. Just like it's your opinion they wouldn't. Do you think every post in this thread is claimed as fact?

In my opinion Freo is much closer to a flag than the Saints. Its respective record at gathering spoons and flags strongly supports this view.

How old will the following be in 2022:
Fyfe
Walters
Neale
Stephen hill
Brad hill
Bennell
Hamling
Wilson
Kersten

As at Rd1 2022

Connor Blakely 26
Luke Ryan 26
Alex Pearce 26
Cam McCarthy 26
Bradley Hill 28
Lachie Neale 28
Joel Hamling 28
Shane Kersten 29
Nathan Wilson 29
Harley Bennell 29
Nat Fyfe 30
Michael Walters 31
Stephen Hill 31

Do it for 2020 then

The key to it all is that its a very good bunch of players (him excluded,) and they will all be in their prime, add in Sean Darcy and Griffin Logue and hopefully 3 or 4 from this years draft and that's not a bad place to be in!!!

One gun KPP away from a nice setup in 2020 yeah?

Have you seen him play?

I have and from what I've seen Rankine is even better!

FWIW, no untried 17yo is worth two top 5 picks!

How is this thread still going?

West Coast fans are right - Freo's forward line is a disaster. But I'm not sure why they are so smug themselves. They have Kennedy - and that's it. Darling is good, but he is neither Pavlich nor Kennedy. Kennedy turns 31 this year. Pavlich was a warrior who played until he was 35, but he was cooked after he was 31. His 2012 season was his last good one, and he was 31 then.

So West Coast most likely have an average forward line and an awful midfield going into 2018. Fremantle have a good midfield, shithouse forward line and unsettled backline.

Both will be shit in 2018. It will take a few drafts before either look like premiership contenders.

Luke Ryan, Griffin Logue, Alex Pearce, Joel Hamling, Nathan Wilson. Unsettled or you got no idea? Commonsense says neither team is a threat in 2018, both teams got kids coming through, but freo are ahead in the rebuild as they're already a few years in and have hit the draft harder in recent years.

1 st question .
an obsessed St Kilda supporter , has kept this thread going longer than it should have ,And you may be right about both teams chances , I put a window of 20-22 as a likely scenario for Freo to be contending , Time will tell , 2018 no way either will be contending , So we agree on that

Aside from Wilson and maybe Hamling, all no-names, with minimal experience. The definition of unsettled.

Not quite, if you had said 'young with a new addition, an injury return and no games played together as a group', well then I would have agreed with you, but to say its because they have no names and minimal experiance, well that means jack shit!
