Who's going to have a break out year in 2014 ?

I know footy is new to you league folk but Mumford has actually been a really good ruck for a few years.

not really new to AFL. been following for a bit over four years now. Im well aware of how good mumford is. Hence the complete and utter excitedness i felt when i heard he had signed with GWS but i was merely just making fun of the swans for letting him go and that his breakout year would involve a lot of kids wanting to pass the ball to him

If Goodes wins another Brownlow, I will change my avatar to James Hird permanently.

Has played very few games the past 2 years.
If the knees are good his form against Collingwood last year showed just how good he still is.
If Goodes wins the Brownlow we will be premiers in a canter.

My hope is that Rohan & Jetta have breakout years - or in Jetta's case, another breakout year. If those two can average over 15 touches in 20+ games next year we will win the flag.

Add to that B Jack - if he can play 10-15 games and get 15 touches per game we will be a tough side to play against. Teams will never get the ball out of our forward 50 :)

I think Reid will exceed expectations taking the 3rd best defender each week.

Step up Dean Towers.

More in hope than anything else, but he will have a full pre-season in 2013-14, and he has the athletic gifts.

189 cm and very very quick , just what we need of the HBF , just hope he has the footy smarts to come on cause I think he can still become a good player

I more I think about it the more I hope he does come on in 2014 , as you say he has the height and electric speed and another pre season , plus 23 now. We can only hope , plus we probably shouldn't of had that pick so would be a huge bonus if he does come on.

i really like what i see with that kid, there have been a few flashes of brilliance and with hard work he can become an important part of the team, and with someone like kieran guiding him he's got every chance of making it. seems like the type of.guy that would soak up every bit of information in order better his game. i have faith

as for breakout. i'm going with rohan.

but i think bird is primed to take a big jump in 2014

I thought Bird made a huge jump in 2013 off the back of finally getting a good pre-season. He's a very talented midfielder who ran with some of the league's best, ruined their party and snagged a few goals of his own. Another good pre-season and he may well find even more room for improvement.

Rohan's luck of snagging a few games in 2013 (I don't think he'd have been risked except for our injuries) takes a lot of pressure off him. He'll take a bundle of self-belief into the pre-season that his leg is well able to withstand the rigours of AFL. That's got to give him huge heart.

I agree Brandon Jack will continue to improve this year but not sure of a break out as he'll find it much harder to get game time (if our forward line remains intact).

A Swans supporter making a league jibe? Really?

I also hope Jack surpasses Mcglynn, I think he could do it with his defensive pressure - kid is a fiesty tackler. When he becomes more confident I think he will have much more natural goal sense as well, has the ability to slot them from everywhere like his brother.

McGlynn has work experience and hardness.

BJack has pace and X-factor.

I know which i prefer in the forward line. BJack is much more creative and unpredictable. Might not displace McGlynn in the early season, but he'll be pushing for a spot by mid-season, and be pretty hard to leave out.

I'm hoping that Gary Rohan has one. He is is that keen that a good year will mean that enthusiasm will spread. Also a new ruckman whoever that may be. Pike can't do it all on his own and I don't think Tippett will be able to provide enough support

Bird is the quiet achiever, always there but never noticed. I noticed people baying for his blood only to be told he had a really good season last year and he did. He just goes about his business the same way Kirkie used to.
