The problem is there doesn't appear to be an open thread to talk about 2025 and beyond.

There is only this thread and the stupid thread about sacking longmire (he frustrates me as well, but the idea that the club would sack him is ridiculous).
I opened a thread but closed it because I felt there was still too much anger and people focused on sacking coaches and searching for silver bullets. Apologised at the time. You should feel free to start the thread you want (no sarcasm).
There were some great suggestions made, they're not lost.

I thought there was a thread but it was closed by mods?

Either way, I am not popular enough to be starting threads like some cowboy.

How do you do that thing where they pin a post at the top of a thread so everyone has to see it before they post anything?
You're asking the wrong person here, I've got no idea at all. I'm always very proud of myself when I'm able to post multiple quotes 😂

The messaging the coaches and players go into next season with will be interesting.

From what I can gather, fans want them to be hurting and distraught about what happened and their sole focus to be on winning the grand final as that's the only thing they haven't proven they can do yet. (In fairness, the "one game does not define us" quote was incredibly dumb, when referring to the one game that literally defines teams.)

But the coaches and players have no choice but to focus on each game as it comes, otherwise they lose those games and there won't even be a grand final to win. So I think our approach to the season needs to be the same as we had this season, as frustrating and cliched and empty as it may seem to hear every week. One week at a time, not looking too far ahead, yidda yadda.

But I think what the coaches can do is make changes and adjustments to give this team the right mentality required to win a grand final should we get there again.

Drop players repeatedly starting games slowly - these are players who obviously need time to adjust to the pace and intensity of a game, a luxury they won't have in a grand final.

Hold players who are repeatedly sloppy or selfish defensively accountable - this can either be dropping them, or, if they are too good/important to drop, don't actively reward them with favouritism & accolades.

Select a team that will be strong in the contest and have elite pressure - these win grand finals over outside run and ball-use, so we need to prioritise them, even at the expense of an outside runner or distributor.

I think these sorts of things we can do and they can actually have an impact on the mindset and attitude of this team and the way we play without us having to go all 'FLAG OR BUST' scorched earth and risk becoming like the Crows post-2017 or GWS post-2019.
It's Horse. I can tell you the messaging. The messaging has been the same for the duration of his tenure.

Trust the plan, stick to the plan, the plan will work. If the plan is not working, stick with the plan because it will work eventually. If the game is over because the plan didn't work and sticking with the plan didn't work either then switch (REID / Logan or Heeney) to the backline.

WTF was with Rampe's body language during the cup presentation after the GF parade? Didn't crack a single smile and had a frown that was so cartoonishly angry that it had to be put on. By contrast Lachie Neale had a relaxed smile the whole time. The difference between the two couldn't be clearer in all of the photos of them holding up the cup. Were we trying to psych them out or something?

Complete opposite in 14

If that was opposite and Rampe was the one smiling and neale frowning, would you now be saying we weren't focussed and were taking things too lightly?

No, because smiling is a completely normal reaction to a public event where you're preparing for something exciting and having your photo taken.

Whatever Rampe was doing, was not normal at all.
