Went to the 2001, 2002 GFs. Couldn't get into the 2003 GF because of a complete stuff-up with the ticketing. Everyone will be surprised to know computers were involved.

2001 was the greatest footballing moment of my life. Couldn't come to terms with winning one, after a 46 year wait. Felt very numb, but not nearly as numb as I felt about 6 hours later.

Also went to the 2004 GF. Couldn't afford to be too disappointed after the previous 3 years. Thought it and 2002 were great games. Not much wrong with 2001 either, in comparison to other GFs I've seen. From a purely selfish POV, 2003 was as close to perfection as I'll ever be likely to see my side play. I would understand if other, neutral, or Collingwood supporters didn't find it so.

Never thought I'd say this, but to be out of the race this season is somehow a relief. No queueing interminably, no sleepless nights of anticipation. Then again, not too much excitement either. All in all, I've probably seen about 13 GFs since 1959. Still the best sporting event on the calendar, even if the game's ordinary.

Pfffft! As opposed to the choking culture of Port Adelaide.

16 flags to 1 flag is greater than winning 33 in a third rate competition.
Mate you got 15 of them in a second rate competition. However I concede your 2 wooden spoons were earnt at the top level, something we've never managed.

No wonder half the clubs playing in the grand finals members cant get tickets if this thread is anything to go by.

Half the stands are filled up with non-grand final teams supporters!

If ya teams not playing stay at home and wait ya turn so the clubs fans who are playing can get in.

I could have gone in 2003, but refuse to. It wasnt my team, and I only want and will go if it is. I couldnt go if it wasnt, it just wouldnt be the same. Couldnt sit there and cheer for someone else on such a magnificent day, different to do that on the telly.

To be there with "your own" watching your team win is bloody unreal. It would be heartbreaking to sit there and see them lose. Last year for me, cost me an arm and a leg.......but the memories are for a life time, and worth every cent.

Been to many SANFL ones, and back when it was a strong comp, it was fantastic......but really, nothing compares to the final day in Sept at the G :) ........and you and your team are winners!!

I have lucky enough to see all the modern Blues' flags
of 68, 70, 72, 79, 81, 82, 87, 95.

And I was there to see them runner's up in 69, 73, 86 and luckily was OS for 93 and 99.

I was fortunate enough to be at the 2000 Grand Final and saw Essendon take the prize for the year..... was an incredible and emotional moment in my life.

I didnt get a ticket to the 2001 GF.... perhaps lucky at that! Just very happy I picked the right year to go!

Who has been to a GF, or seen their team in one..... or better, seen their team win one?

I'm very lucky. Went to the 96, 98, 99 Day Grand Finals, winning 2 of them. 96 was great because we won the Reserves GF too.

Also went to the 95, 98, 2000 night GFs, which we won 2.

Losing a day GF is bloody awful.

The 2004 prelim final was just as special to me as i remember the fact that game could've went either way but i definitely think that the home crowd willed our players onto victory that night with moments such as Sean Burgoyne's tackle in the last quarter near the Saints goal, inspirational stuff & when the siren went the crowd went nuts i had complete strangers hugging me, the adulation was incredible.

I have to agree. I was more emotional and euphoric after the Prelim than the Grand Final. Just to finally make it after the years of failing and in such an incredibly tight game that went down to the last seconds...when that final siren sounded....unbelivable.

The last half of the Granny was special tho. That last 6 minutes of the third quarter where we kicked 4 goals and then Gavs two goals in the opening minutes of the last quarter and realising youve probably got it won...and Dews sealer at the 23 minute mark or so. Great feeling.
