Who's to blame Murphy, Taylor or McGlynn?

Ugh. McGlynn was great last week, Taylor won the hitouts and was decent and Murphy did pretty well. The team let itself down in the last, Roughy's kicking wasn't great and Hodge wasn't in the game as much as we'd have liked.

Roughie missed shots a forward should kick, Kennedy did not kick at goal late in the game when he should, the story goes on and on. The point is we will be a very very good side in 2010

Not that is was his fault we lost but kennedy had a prime opportunity in space to at least score a point and regain the lead within the last four minutes but foolishly chose to pass it off to franklin who had two geelong players right on his tail. I don't think I have ever yelled kick it at the television screen so loudly. Shattered

I couldn't be at the game today due to sickness, but I heard an interesting stat from a commentator. When we were winning by 7 points with about 5 minutes to go, it was proclaimed "Hawthorn have had 8 goals kicked on them from the last 13 entries into the forward 50". Although that doesn't sound entirely correct, it's still a damning statistic. 'Tis a leaky ship.

LOL...Murphy had around 5 goals kicked on him today whilst on 4 different opponents.

Ablett, Rooke x 2, Hogan, can't think of the last.....all i know is the guy is a massive liability.

I blame clarkson for continuely picking them

Hmmn! The blame game, eh!

McGlynn was one our heroes last week, one of the few in the comp who can rattle Didak.

I will agree it is difficult not to wonder about Thomas but our coach has used him in a team development sense and may not be turning out to be an answer for some of our problems in our brittle defence. It was of concern when he let the much shorter Ablett stand in front of him as the ball came down and was so easily out-marked. He should learn to bustle when its one-on-one. I just hope he can turn the corner. I want all our younguns to succeed - it takes time.

As for Tayles, maybe an excuse can be made in that it takes a long time for big ruckmen to develop. He does show signs and I like his unsociable style.

When you write it like that it defintely makes it worse,it really is gutwrenching. Its hard to believe a player would do that.i bet Buddys heart just sank. You need experience in that sort of heavy traffic. We just don't have it!!!

The thing about the game was the intensity... geelong just never gave up.You'd think the'd be happy with their wins ,I'm so sick of that club.I hope thommo and his little cryer gary ablett get theres one day and you now what that day will be in september this year.Saints will do em in.I have no doubt about that at all.

I hate to be critical of Hawthorn players but Murphy has been average all year. I think he tries but he lacks talent. His opponent always has a good game.

Its not his fault. He is a flanker asked to do jobs that are beyond him.

Can't blame those three - its a team game and our composure in the last quarter just wasn't there. Ellis should of had a shot instead of passing, Roughie could have kicked straight, Mitchell got pushed in the back and paid a holding the ball free kick against etc etc.

murphy should be traded.WE need kick arse players that won't take any shit and have skills.

I'm sorry but players need to have heart like croady and crawfs.we just need people with heart and hunger.

even shit hawthorn teams from the 90's would roll geelong because thats what we did.We always beat the handbaggers.we had the edge on them regardless.

This is a tough and bitter lesson. One i hope this club learns from.
 because I won't FORGET for a very long time. Its simply not good enough.

Even Buddy missed a couple in the last and did not just get the ball onto his boot when the score was tied up

The only people you could blame this week are Kennedy, for not having a shot late in the game, and Roughead for dropping a few simple marks and missing a few simple goals. Everybody else either played their bit or were well held. I'm always very nervous whenever Shoey gets the ball but I can hardly blame a first year player for a few turnovers.

if i hear one more person say murphy is playing on opponents too big for him, im gonna go nuts...

He was such a disgrace today i cannot even comprehend the fact that he is picked in the side...

For all the people that defend him each week, go and really watch him and his lack of speed, intensity, courage, willingness to run and create, defensive capabilities on ANY opponent.

Can't stand the fact he wears the jumper each week

Yeh Taylor and Murphy didn't have their greatest games ever. I thought Benny Mac tried his heart out. All our youngsters had good games.

The guy who I thought was very very dissapointing today was the Birch.

I don't think any one player should be blamed for the loss and definitely not Kennedy, give the kid a break, he made an error in judgement and he'll be better for the experience. But I have to say, Murphy did have a stinker and our backline is still shaky at best.

But I'm impressed by our youngsters. The only way is up boys. If not this year (I still hold hope), then a good pre-season for 2010 will be the tonic we need!:thumbsu:

It is important to address the key point why do we play them? We have no real choice as who is better than them that is fit and in form. I am sure Clarko and the selection committee have a fair handle on this one.

As fans we should give these guys some slack as they are in the bottom 5 or 6 of our current top 22 ( I am one of the worst offenders as I always bore my wife silly about every mistake they make.) They are always going to look second rate when we lose due to their position in the pecking order.

However Taylor was pretty good today no major stuff ups from what I can remember. Benny Mcglynn was hardly one of the worst today. Tom Murphy wasn't too bad in patches but his real problem is he is physically weak. He cannot compete one on one. I actually blame Andrew Russell and the team for this. He has been in the system for about 4 years. He is pissweak and must harden up physically. I actually think if he can put about 5 kg's of pure muscle he would be a usual defender (not on key position forwards that will never happen).

I actually think the slandering of these guys after every loss is boring and counter productive. We would be better off mixing it up a bit like one week bagging the guns like Hodge and Roughy who let us down and then the next slapping around the usual suspects.

thought murphy and mcglynn were ok. thought tails had a great game tbh...

whoever didn't push back on the extra cat in the forward 50 every time the ball was turned over is to blame... i.e., all players because it wasn't the same cat every time!

need to be more accountable on the opposition forwards for 4 quarters.
