Confidence is one thing, but to be brutally honest the Cats have absolutely no reason to look forward to playing Hawthorn. Recent history shows that even when the Cats were at their best they struggled to compete with a Hawthorn side that was only in the early stages of greatness. Talk of Geelong dominance for the next three years is laughable when you consider the one team they CANNOT beat is on the rise, all Geelong supporters should be braced to relive the pain of 89 many times over.

Don't flatter yourself. Hawthorn are second, of all the also-rans, you're the best. ;)

It's round 6.
You know that a serious injury to one player will effectively end your season. Either that or if teams find a way to shut him down.

Recent history? 2007 premiers. In other words best until proven otherwise.

Another Hawthorn supporter with small man syndrome.

I think this thread should be "Why, all of a sudden Hawthorn rate themselves against Geelong?". Geelong won a premiership last year. Don't get me wrong, Hawthorn are a great side and in the two or three best side going around at the moment. But Geelong are the best side at the moment and have won it where it counts and that is the last day in September.

god i hope geelong smash hawthorn to shut all you hawk idiots up. Noone cares that you beat Geelong last year. Geelong won the flag and are one of the best sides ever to grace the field. They currently have bragging rights. So how about hawks fans learn to deal with the the fact that your team are not the competitions linchpin and just concentrate on winning games and reaching finals

Shit. You heard it here first folks. Geelong may aswell give up right now. Surely you'd think winning 24 out of 25 games and also winning the GF by an all time record would be just enough to start thinking about the possibility beating the mighty poo's and wee's, but obviously not.

 Weak troll. Try something original next time instead of the same drivel being spouted over and over.

No we were actually 6th, and as Brisbane denied Collingwood glory we will do the same to you

So you keep telling us. Unfortunately for you actions speak louder than words.

We won the flag, you got towelled up by a side the shouldnt have played finals themselves. It says a lot really.

Last year (like your many Hawthorn counterparts) said we'd choke in the finals. We didn't.

Must have been difficult for Hawthorn supporters watch on as their "bitches" won the flag and stole the GF record margin off them.

A supporter of a club that's no longer based on the mainland should realise better than anyone, that times change.

Unfortunately their insecure little minds need to be heard.

24 out of 25 and no Hawthorn in there, we beat easily just before your "streak".

Western Bulldogs also beat the Cats last year - fat lot of good that proved to be. Hawks are good - no doubt about that - but are a Buddy injury away from being back in the pack. Dogs have beaten the Cats plenty of times over the years too but seriously if Geelong play at the level they reached in the Grand Final last year, Buddy can kick 10 and the Cats will still get them.

I think you're lucky you didn't come up against them during the streak, although a reality check is what your mob needs.

The thing is we really dont give a sh*t what you think because we are the premiers mate.....live with it

Hawthorn's rise IS Geelong's worst nightmare. The Cats so called dynasty is going to be abruptly denied by a club that they just CANNOT beat.

And let's not just think that an injury to Franklin means we are gone. Clarko has other soldiers at his disposal, a well drilled team and a plan that works.

Bring on the Cats. Should be fun.

I wouldn't say easily mate. What was it, 4 or 5 points? We led for most of the day.

The FACT is that we've beaten you more than you've beaten us. "Cannot" seems excessive, dont you think?

The 'well drilled plan' is "kick it to the 6"6 gun full-forward who drills them from all angles". If only all clubs had it so easy.

Granted Hawthorn DO have other good players. But if Franklin went down it would bring Hawthorn back with the pack, there is no denying that. Contrast that to Geelong, we don't have one player in the top 5 leading goalkickers in the comp, noone close to Franklin's 29 goals and we have kicked more goals than Hawthorn.

Franklin kicked 7 in their very fortunate finals win against Adelaide. The next weeek, Buddy bombed as did Hawthorn.

Easily? The Hawks won by 4 points at their home ground. Kangaroos also beat us after the Hawks did and before the 24 of 25 run, by considerably more than 4 points. I've got no issues with declaring that the Hawks were the better team on the day down in Tassie, I just don't understand why Hawks' supporters get a woody over it.

And why would Hawthorn fans give a stuff what Geelong fans thought 3 months before the two teams are due to meet?

Seems like a lot of fear and trepidation on behalf of Hawks fans on here.

In the overall context of the competition you have, but if you regard the last 25 years in which you have a much better win-loss ratio than us - you still only win 1 out of every 3 times you play us. That has to be a huge mental scar for your side.

Yes, we have a fully functioning forward line, as do you. However yours has probably been exposed this year as either playing above themselves last season or not fully firing this year. Perhaps coaches are manning you up better.

In any case your midfield is creating your scoreboard drive. Not a bad situation but not a sustainable one either. Remember West Coke.

Perhaps you need to get ablettbackintheair.

Are you on your second or third bottle of $5 Shiraz?
