Why are we still persisting with North?

Probably not enough time for Khawaja to play at the WACA for the Blues and make runs to then get in the team for the Adelaide test. If there was a weekend off, and he made a score, he'd be a massive chance to come in for North, but the timing probably doesn't allow for it, perhaps sadly.

Sadly the same applies for Smith then. As crazy as it may seem O'Keefe is probably a better bet than North he at least makes runs consistently and easily outbowls him. No way would I do it atm but just saying.

wait O'keefe isn't even in the shield side.

Pictures really do convey it more than words can.

Where's the 112 not out? ;)

The sad thing is that in ten years time we'll look back at North as a useless idiot who should never have been in the team, rather than how he should be remembered - a handy player who got a go late in his career and played some very fine innings, but was ultimately just a stop-gap between generations.

The thing about Marcus North is that he's so ridiculously inconsistent that it is difficult to tell what his strengths and weaknesses are (consistency aside, obviously). He is capable of looking silly against any type of bowling in any type of conditions, but he can also churn out centuries in difficult conditions, against hostile bowling (Johannesburg 2009 comes to mind). Hell, even his fielding is not all that reliable.

Having someone like Marcus North in your side is perfectly alright when your openers and middle order are fairly consistent (like for much of the 2000's), but not when your captain shows only glimpses of his former brilliance, your vice-captain is injury prone and when Michael Hussey has (until yesterday) taken to batting like late-era Jimmy Adams.

But who should he be replaced with? I'm not exactly sure.

If North isn't dropped for the next test (possibility of a 4th innings match winning performance aside) I personally vow to take a rancid dump in four separate AusPost Packs and mail them to Messrs M.Hilditch, D.Boon, M.Hughes & J.Cox.

Smith will be in, he's already the nominated golden boy.

As for O'Keefe its time for the NSW fan club to admit he's a dud, and the NSW selectors to cut him loose and see if O'Keefe is the real thing or whether his early form is an anomaly by giving him as much shield exposure as possible

at 24/25 I think he could realistically have a 10 year career ahead of him.

if he can average 40 with the bat and 30 with the ball at test level, he'll do, early shield form suggests he can do better than that.

I'm not sure what this is meant to demonstrate - that when the rest of the team scores ****-all, North also scores ****-all?
