You've both had mammoth amount of years consecutively out of the finals. Essendon's biggest in recent times is 4 with our finals extinction looking like it will be imminently over

The rivalry with the black and red bummers is amusing... there is a little bit of hatred there for them, but only because they are trying to take out sport at the top of the # premierships won table...
The filth is another matter. The only reason they were even in the VFL/ALF is because we voted to include them. They hate us for that. All of their success in the VFL/AFL is because of Carlton and that rankles them a lot.
Carlton truely hate the filth because their supporters usually need intensive instructions on how to walk without dragging their knuckles along the pavement and the intelligent use of a razor to get the hair off their backs (and thats just the women).
But the reason we hate them is because their team are usually a bunch of weak sniping w***ers who are more inclined to try and king hit their opponant rather than punching the ball.
Essendon is a very good team that on their day can defeat any team in the league. Once we get consistency watch out 17th, 18th and 19th flags

ye there's no doubt our hatred for ess stems from the fact we are both on 16 flags, and we cost them a flag when they were expected to win and had everything going for them, '93 was a different story for us cos we werent expected to win really
i guess one of the other main reasons i enjoy a win against them more than any other team is due to a lot of family friends and mates being supprters of them, i never liked sheedy either, his arrogance was just too much to handle
and in addition to that i've never come across a bunch of supporters who so constantly whinge over the umpires and actually claim that they cost them the game
I think the pies rivalry mainly stems from the fact they had played in many GFs against each other and they were generally close, with us coming out on top more often than not, there's more respect in that rivalry imo

With your current list you'd have next to zero chance.....terrible list (gotta be close to worst in the league).....you may have knocked us over the last few times but you are delusional if you think you're close to a flag with that shi-te list!!!

The same reason Collingwood lost 3 times in a row to us. Or maybe the same reason Essendon beat us 4 times in a row during 1981 & 1982, yet we won both premierships.

Actually the Blues have won 5 flags in 30 years, and 16 flags total making them the most successful Club in the competition. By contrast the Pies have won 1 flag in 50 years, putting them firmly in the Melbourne, Bulldogs, StKilda basket-case group. The Pies half-decade of failure has been providing the football world with plenty of laughs for a long time now.
Basket-case group? The old Carlton premiership teams would be disgusted with the tripe the new Carlton have dished up over the past decade....
