Will any of the top 4 go out in straight sets?

Cats over Hawks
Eagles over Pies
Saints over Swans
Dons over Blues

Hawks over Saints
Pies over Dons

So the answer is NO

I'd settle for that and will even go to the trouble of completing it for you...

Hawks over Eagle <---- would this be in VIC or WA?
Cats over Pies

Hawks over Cats

Wet toast are the weakest link of the top 4 no questions.
Hell they only beat us by 1 point & we've been horrible for the last 8 weeks.

Bitter obsessed freo drivel
The Derby was your Grand final. but i agree after that your club has been its usual rabble

Well considering the fact that if things play out how I think they will, we only need to beat teams we've beaten in the last 3 weeks to get to a prelim, so I think Geelong could be the ones to shockingly go out in straight sets.

If the first week goes as seeded, I could see Carlton beating West Coast in the second week - they play Subi well and are more experienced.

I think the game would be a 55/45 type proposition for WC.

Wanted a non blues supporter to say it first.

Assuming Pies and Blues win this week I'd say:

Eagles $1.71
Blues $2.14

Or for non betters, Eagles slight favourites. Fingers crossed!

A week is a long time in footy; 2 weeks ago all would have said Geelong for sure, suddenly we are ok. I'm worried about losing to Hawks and Swans/ SAINTS. The Hawks games take a hell of a lot out of us historically, so a win for the older brigade is probably more critical. Hawks could more easily recover from a loss and still get to the GF, IMO.

Swans and Saints have the types of games that could put us out of our misery.

Most likely not. Even when teams get belted in the QF they usually come back and win the semi. Depending on how much Geelong and Hawthorn beat the crap out of each other the Saints/Swans winner might have a chance but I think like most other years it will be the top 4 in the prelims.

If we beat the pies, we'd get a home prelim.
If this happens, we're every chance to make the grand final.

So the Eagles would get a home final despite finishing lower on the ladder than its likely opponents - Geelong or Hawthorn? I didn't realise that. I thought the ladder dictated who gets home ground advantage in any match up. The team higher on the ladder by default getting the home ground ad.

Reckon the Cats will get up in a closey over the Hawks.

Pies will belt the Eagles.

Saints will win Comfortably against the Swans.

Blues will win comfortably against the Dons.

Eagles will beat the Blues in WA.

Saints will beat the Hawks.

So there you have it, IMO the Eagles are assured of winning their home final, so the loser of Cats V Hawks 'could' be looking at an early exit as the Saints look up and about.

Eagles finished top in 2006 but had to play a prelim against Adelaide in Adelaide after losing to Sydney in the QF. If we're good enough to beat the pies at the mcg we will have earnt a home prelim.

That said we are every possibility to go out in straight sets as Carlton would be a tricky proposition even at subiaco. I don't think the swans or Saints have the depth to beat hawthorn or geelong in a semi

The two 'Qualifying' finals are just that, you Qualify for your seeding position for the rest of the finals based on the outcome of that game.

5-8 are set from week 1.

Another way of looking at it is that 4th beating 1st is considered to deserve a greater advantage over the loser of 2v3 under this finals system.

Collingwood will do an absolute number on wet toast.
The following week carltank will be miles to quick, thus knocking wet toast out in straight sets. This is odds on to happen.

That is....way way wait. Just assume Carlton will win week one. Because there's no chance of them losing here. "but but but they comfortably beat a backline-less essendon almost 2 months ago, blah blah blahhh"
