GeeLOL sucks, so does $hitney
I'm concerned that having not played for three weeks and coming off a serious illness (apparently he dropped a few kilos) Hodge will really struggle to have an impact in the GF.

Naturally I hope I'm wrong and unquestionably Hodge is a champ who will give everything he has, but my worry is that he may not be able to physically run out a full game and may require significant bench time.

Please, please prove me wrong Hodgey!

I look at it more that he could afford to lose a few kilos and the less weight means improved running capacity ;)

He won't let us down!

Yes.

Luke Hodge was born to play well in Grand Finals.
We shouldn't underestimate what effect Hodgey just being out there will have. His cool head, clear thinking and composure will be vital. I think that is what we missed last week. So what if he has to be rotated off the bench a little more than usual, if he can get through almost the entire game, I'll be happy.

Gastro is hardly a serious illness. It lasts 48 hours max. I remember playing a game on the onset of a gastro - subbed off at halftime, was sick on the Sunday and Monday but was fine by Thursday training and played just as if I was fit the following week.

He will be more than fine. He was born to play this Saturday.

Like people have said before Hodge is born to play Grand Finals. He'd still probably be one of our best on with a broken arm and his ears chopped off. He won't stop for nothing on Saturday and I feel sorry for whoever is between him and the ball.

As of yesterday Hodge was allegedly still restricted to eating rice and Vegemite sandwiches.

Dr Rohan white (former saints sports medico) said "Hodge hasn't had time to regain lost muscle mass and the club dietitian would play a key role in restoring his energy levels in the next 4 days".

He also says that due to the virus he has been in a catabolic state where the body under stress uses up all its energy, and he is not refueling as he cant eat.

Of course he will, he's our skipper and one of our best players. He makes others better and provides so much on-field leadership that just having him out there is a positive for the whole team.

I'd love him to start across HF with stints in the midfield and go back only if needed. If he gets 15-20 quality touches we will be hard to beat.

He can't be too bad. He trained yesterday. I ran in athletic comp suffering Gastro. Day 1 I was fine. Day 2 I didn't back up well and ran much slower times in the finals but that was probably mostly because I couldn't eat. He shouldn't have a problem restoring his energy levels by Saturday unless he can't eat (which doesn't seem to be the case.

I do not see why the club would have given this doctor ALL the relevant details for him to make such an expansive diagnosis. Sounds like someone grandstanding to me!

Maybe so, but it was serious enough to put my daughter in hospital on a drip for a night. After 36 hours of spewing up you are not exactly at the top of your game for a few days.

Not expecting Hodgey to win a Norm this week. If he does, legendary status awaits.

Gastro is just a term for any infection or condition that involves inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. It can be caused by a virus, bacteria or parasites and can range from mild to fatal.

5-8 million people a year die from it, most in resource poor countries, but it certainly can be very serious.

Glad there are no "No's" so far! Imn concerned for the welfare of people who ticked "maybe" though!

This guy is a bloody animal particularly when something so important is on the line!

He will find a way to make an impact this week and IMO will be the difference between a loss and a win!

He is an animal.
After a 12 week spell Hodge returned with 5 goals in 3qtrs against the Bombers.
He was injured coming into and got belted during the 2008 GF.
Has only played 9 games this year and coming off 3 weeks rest, will be raring to tear shreds you'd think.
Only needs 70% game time to make a huge impact:thumbsu:
