Sainter Andrew Thompson said today, when asked, that he felt there was no reason why the Saints couldn't go through the season undefeated.

They would be the first team to do it since the 20's or 30's. Essendon came close in 2000..... can the Saints do it this year? Or is Andrew Thompson talking too much too early?

I believe there is a slim chance the saints will go through undefeated. I believe if they do go through undefeated they won't win the flag. I also believe if they meet essendon or brisbane in the finals they will either lose (accessing thier double chance) or be knocked out.

Home and Away is just buying the tickets to the dance. Doesn't matter how good before the dance, you just have to bring it. So going undefeated just gets you a flashy ticket, that means jack**** once you get inside the door.

Bring on the real footy in September.

Thier fans do have a ridiculously long 13 weeks to relax knowing thier team will be in finals action.

As a longtime suffering Saints supporter, I can't remember seeing a more hungry outfit then this one.

This side oozes class in most positions, so if one area doesn't stand up, another will.

I think we'll lose an odd game here and there, but in the finals, we've got some older guys who will rev up the younger ones and let them know the pain of losing a grand final.

Without a bad run of injuries, I can't see any team putting a stop to our forward line.

:p
what the hell is going on here? When someone from another club posts something about the saints (which are the majority of posts) we are getting cocky??
Thought you had more sense TheShiek.

I think the Saints will drop a couple of matches, but it's just WAY too early to start talking premierships at this point! If they keep up this form and level of enthusiasm for the whole season then yeah of course they're a chance to win the flag! In 2001 the Lions had an improved but dodgy away record and still managed to win the GF (and then two more but that's beside the point ;)) so anything's possible.

Thompson also said that 'they will be flogging teams from now on and not just beating them', but I can not see them losing anytime soon, they are so far ahead of anyone else, so good luck to them.

still finish first though with 20-2

No. The only Port/St Kilda game this year is at York Park, I think it's r 14. Fwiw, it's a Saints home game. I don't know who Port will have back and firing by then, so it's not a certainty for either side.

St,Kilda play once at the MCG this year.

They can't play there and will come undone in finals. As they're coach and players are inexpieranced in finals appearances.

Plus they're peaking at the wrong time, they've been up for a long time and will come down to the joy of all.

Bookmark it your self knob. Once at the MCG? hmm yeah you know your ****.

I thought before the season that they would finish near the top, drop a few games, and perhaps struggle in finals. I haven't really changed my mind on that, although I think they'll finish the H&A season better than I originally anticipated. Finals, however, are a different ball game and I wonder whether youth and the lack of experience (particularly of finals) will be telling.

Can you hedge a bet anymore than that???

I love this, the all seeing, all knowing, Guru of football can't even get his basic facts right. Anybody that is this well informed has to be right.

WOW.

i was wrong about how many games the saints play at the G a whole 1 game off.

you'd think they're not even my team.

Agree with this totally.

1998 is a perfect example of this. Doesn't matter what you did in the H/A, hell mighten(if your lucky) matter how you go in the first week of the finals, if you can turn it on for the 2 hours on that last saturday in September, anything can happen.
