No, completely overrated always has been.

Yet expect Carlton to be asking after him come trade week.

the kid has talent, I just don't think he's ever had to really push himself physically. If the penny drops and he starts really working hard and wanting to compete, he will be a very good forward still.

Absolute spud!!

Glad to see him playing in the seniors at the moment. Makes me feel a whole lot better.

I'm sure he is Kosi's brother? They are so much alike.

Not an absolute spud, but the comparison with Kosi is fair enough. The difference though is Kosi has good hands...and this is Tomahawks big failing. He just cannot take the one grab mark often enough.

He also lacks a bit of mongrel. Wouldn't be dumping him just yet...but you would think 2012 is a big year for him.....not to mention the upcoming final series.

Quite possibly, the softest senior player in the AFL.

Is clearly at the crossroads, you think with an imposing build, he would be making a mark on the AFL but he has regressed to an alarming level.

Apart from his size, does he have anything else that is of an AFL standard?

I wonder if DTS enjoyed Hawkins game on saturday :D

Are we talking about the same Tom Hawkins? The two time premiership player and match winner who plays for Geelong?

Wowee...

understandable the number of nuffy Pies, like the OP, who have gone into hiding.
No doubt this pea heart will appear as yet another alias come December.

Has learned how clunk marks. Demoralised the Collingwood backline on Saturday.

Now just needs to work on his kicking. Hopefully this comes in 2012.

No coincidence that Hawkins put his best performance in on a wet day. Its strange for a big guy but all of his best games have been in the wet. Will be a good player in the future in finals since contested possession increases by 20% which suits the 'slower' types but will never excell in H&A games.

Gold jerry gold!!!!

Earlier in this thread I lamented his inability to take the one grab mark.

seems to have over come that problem!!!!!!...an amazing transformation. IF he can continue to impose himself like that in the air, he will be one of the premier forwards in the AFL.

He really was exceptional on the big stage,; almost Jonathon Brown - like. As a cat fan...one can only hope.

What a difference he would make if he is able to continue his development...!!

PS: Hope Seth enjoyed the Hawkins performance in the Gf....

Tom Hawkins was excellent in the GF, but it's a bit harsh having a go at those that have put him down in the past. Quite simply he HAS been a spud in the past and even he admitted his form had been ordinary.

His heritage is Melbourne Grammar which is highly reknowned for producing skilful but soft as butter footballers. You only have to watch their Amateur team to know what I mean.

Let's hope he continues on from here and has a fine career. If the post about him being coached by Carey is true then maybe he can turn around re toughness too. Onya Tommy!

I think you better ask Ben Reid that question, he will be having nightmares for years about the Tomahawk !
