I dont think i could get up of the floor laughing if Richmond somehow finished 9th from here.
There is a bit of schadenfreude I'd have to admit to there as well.

That said this month will really tell if Richmond are true contenders. I've always seen their biggest weakness as the coach who has a really poor record against the top end coaches (I guess in some ways that's a little self fulfilling because the best coaches generally have the best sides at their disposal).

However against Clarkson he's 3/8. This really is a critical match for them.

Lose that and he faces Cats away with a 0/6 record against Scott and 0/7 overall.

At that point they'd still be stuck on 12 wins and heading over to Freo to face Lyon and a 3/12 record. They'd be nervous at that point.

They'd then be up against Saints playing in Nicks last game against a team that absolutely dismantled them this year.

As I say, win this week and they may charge on. Lose and a few supporters may start getting that sick feeling in the stomach.

Ideal Results Next Week
Geelong vs Sydney- Geelong win
GWS vs Melbourne- GWS win
Essendon vs Carlton- Carlton win
Brisbane vs Western Bulldogs- Western Bulldogs win
North Melbourne vs Collingwood- North Melbourne win
Fremantle vs Gold Coast- Gold Coast win
Saint Kilda vs West Coast- Saint Kilda win
Richmond vs Hawthorn- Richmond win
Adelaide vs Port Adelaide- Adelaide win

Edit: If all this happens we finish the round in sixth position

This could all happen - although I doubt Carlton beat Essendon, they've been pretty bad for a few weeks now.

That said, couldn't you easily see all the results going the other way without being massively surprised?

Weird season to be able to say that this late in the year.

Just can't see it happening - Richmond have shown themselves to be a little weak in the last couple of minutes of games, but aside from the Adelaide and St Kilda games have put up pretty consistent effort and decent performances (particularly defensively). Can't imagine they don't win another game from here.

I'd much rather they beat the Hawks to officially eliminate them from finals contention. Hawks next two after that are eminently winnable and they'd be on a massive roll playing the dogs in Rd 23.

I've said in another thread that it would be a great game, effectively an elimination final if the dogs managed to win 2 out of the next 3. But I'd really much rather the hawks were playing kids and giving Gibson and Hodge a farewell game.

Overall though it is a great round, with pretty much every game having finals implications due to the number of teams still in the hunt.

I'd love to know what went wrong in that mid-season blip. There was obviously something not right behind the scenes. Kudos to the coaching staff and players for sorting it out.

Nah its not about faith. The question was will we play finals and my answer was and still is no, i dont think we will. If we do scrape in then the other 7 sides will be shitting themselves, but I dont think we will. We have 4 tough games. Brisbane are 18th but our bogey side and GWS, Port and Hawthorn are all going to be tough. Realistically with a weak percentage we need to win 4/4 and I don't think we can.
According to the Brazilian macumba we win the next 8 games.

add that and we would be top 4, also we shouldnt have lost to freo
We also scrapped across the line vs Richmond and Norf x2. Unless you're Brad Scott the close losses/wins generally even out.

You're right the odds are definitely in the Tigers favour sitting on 12 wins already. But imagine if they lose the next couple and then Martin says he's going to Sydney. They might back up the manure truck at Punt Rd again.

A thought not without merit but every side in the eight has stories of wins that should have been losses and losses that should have been wins. We deal with the reality of 10 wins with the potential of 14 and finals. Win those and % can look after itself. 2% up for win and 2% down for losses by sides above us and you make up 4 % easily in a week. Win by a bit more and others lose by a bit more and the gap decreases further. 80+ differential in past fortnight has already got us started. The gaps from 6-10 aren't insurmountable anymore. It's really only Crows, Port and Cats that are untouchable in percentage. A Brisbane smashing would help the theory along a bit.
