Willy vs Frankston - Semi Final

Boumann isn't playing.

Williamstown's lead has been reduced to just three points at the last change.

Very silly play by the Seagulls forwards in that term. The conditions are windy and the breeze was heavily favouring the Frankston end in that quarter. The Dolphins' defenders just played it smart and they always had a loose man in front of the contest every time Willy went inside fifty, because the ball continued to drop short. I thought after the second time we would have woken up to that, but it happened about eight times that quarter and the Willy forwards didn't get a sniff.

Easton Wood impressed me that quarter. I might have to change my opinion of him. How good was his strong tackle in defence?

Ward played into some form that quarter.

Wight and Everitt were pretty good, as was Skipper. Reid also took a very nice mark, but didn't do much else.

Street is playing like a super mega dud. Even intercepted an Everitt mark at one stage, which resulted in a turnover.

I'll back Williamstown to kick away with a three goal win given we are now kicking with a fairly strong breeze in this final quarter.

How bad is the commentary. You'd think Willy were gone. They're only 6 points down and held the Dolphins to a few goals with a strong breeze.

Huge run from Everitt. Having a good last quarter. Just missed the goal.

Oh. My. God. A goal in the last minute from the tightest angle ever to win by a point.

Best finish ever. What a weekend for Doggies fans.

Andrejs had an impressive last quarter, did some tough stuff and kicked precisely. Almost kicked goal of the year.

If we need an extra tall next week, maybe....

Just a fantastic last quarter.

Willy didn't look like it until the last two minutes.

Just a freak goal in the conditions from the boundry by Urch.

I was up and out of my seat when that one went though.

Surey there has to be a good feeling around the club this week after the results last night and today.

Fantastic win. The heart is pumping like crazy. What with the win last night and now this - my broken leg is not feeling any pain. Shame I have to watch all the games on telly.
Congratulations Williamstown - great effort. Now go get Port!!

Ya, great game and good to see Skinny attacking the ball; Urch's goal was as smart as it was skillful, reduce the wind factor to 0 and just ping it.

Brilliant. I watched most of the game but had to do something for most of the last quarter. Came in at the 22 min mark and got to watch the great last 9 minutes. Great goal Urch and I liked Skinnys game and Rays composure at the end.

It is good to see Williamstown go through and some of the Bulldogs listed players go well but I follow Frankston in the VFL and did before Bulldogs become affiliated with Willy and I am shattered for Frankston.

My heart is still in my mouth. I have never, ever been that exciting for a VFL game. Imagine if the Bulldogs were to win like that in a final.

Great win by the Towners. The "never say die" culture shines through yet again.

You want to see an exciting game. Watch the 1990 VFA Grand Final.....the most exciting game of Australian Rules football I have ever seen. Willy down by 6 goals at 3/4 time come roaring home, and win it when Bill Swan kicks the goal of his life from 50m to break Springvale hearts. :thumbsu:

Good to see Willi get up after struggling through the last quarter although Frankston were very brave. I watched on TV and felt that Willi got a VERY poor run from the umpires being particularly harsh on Street.

My views on the Dogs players

Cam Wight - played well from CHB and gave good run to set up play.

Everitt - fairly quiet early but had a terrific last quarter.

Wood - Got involved and looks hard at it. Did not see the report.

Ray - Got plenty of the ball and did some good things but disposal efficency still below par.

Ward - Kicked 2 first half goals but struggled to get involved in the game. Did better in general play in the second half.

Reid - Tries hard but not much influence

O'Keefe - Kicked one good goal but did little else

Skipper - Started well and contributed in the ruck.

Addison - Played ok and probably got better as the game progressed

Street - Won plenty of taps and competed, but did not provide enough advantage. Was crucified by the umpires.

Of those Wight played well enough to be considered in the senior line-up and Everitt's last quarter was more like the form he showed in 2007. Addison probably nearly there.
