A mate and i were discussing heritage round a few weeks back, and came up with a ripper idea (an idea that will almost certainly never eventuate). In going a step further than different match day jumpers, why not play the scheduled matches at the clubs respective original home grounds, ie: Victoria Park, Windy Hill, Whitten Oval, Princess Park etc

My best memories of football were watching games at Vic park when i was younger, and i'm sure others feel the same about their respective clubs/grounds.

There are a number of reasons why this would probably never get off the ground, with the major one being money, and the AFL not prepared to sacrifice attendance figures etc.

If there was a way in which this could happen, do you think the AFL would give it a crack? And would you like to see it happen?

The problem is that these grounds have been left to ruin..

Vic Park and Moorabin resemble the Roman colosseum now the concrete is starting to crack that much. Arden Street is grassy hills. Windy Hill is a mixture of the colosseum look and grassy hills. Princes Park and Western Oval ( the two most recently used ) have had 'training facilities' built so would now be unsuitable. Glenferrie would only be suitable for teams of 10 players in the modern game, Brunswick st oval would be 8 players a side.

The only two grounds you could actually do this at would be Junction Oval, and maybe the Punt Road oval.

They should go even further, allowing each clup one past legend to play, expending the bench to 5

It wouldn't be financially viable for Vlad and his cronies. Imagine the money they would need to fork out to get the surfaces up to scratch, never mind the drop in crowd numbers. Great idea though.
