Worst players to put on the baggy green

Roger Woolley ...toured the windies in 83-84 and and also played against Sri Lanke as a keeper batsman, played a couple of tests and dropped more catches than he took . DUD

Greg Campbell ...I faced him before he went on the ashes tour...could move the ball in the air but had no real pace . 2nd luckiest person ever to wear a baggy green cap for 4 tests

Mediocre TEST XI Since 1980

Robbie Kerr
Steve Smith
Greg Blewett
Graeme Wood
Dirk Wellham
*Trevor Chappell
+Greg Dyer
Gavin (Robbo) Robertson
Scott (Can't Bowl, Can't Throw) Muller
Chris Matthews
Jo Angel

12th Man: Brett (Bowling version of Bevan) Lee

Blewett ! are you kidding me. Are you to young to remember his series saving 200+ at the Wanderes in South Africa (along with a gem of an innings by Ian Healy). This was against a quality bowling line up with Alan Donald at the time regarded as the bet quick going around.

Couple of names in here that I don't recall - Greg Campbell and Chris Matthews? What seasons did these guys play?

There have been a few shockers recently, but I think most of the ones I would have thought of have been covered.

early 80s...

Campbell went on the '89 Ashes tour

Craig Matthews was early to mid 80's i think....maybe late 80's as well

both were crap

has anyone mentioned Murray Bennett?

and Sunny posting Blewett and Greame Wood in his/her mediocre side is pretty poor form IMO

Dirk Wellham for smacking Barb in the face when he went out to bat at Junction Oval or Albert Ground (i think?) deserves his spot

Bruce Francis
Ken Eastwood
Wally Edwards
David Ogilvie
Craig Serjeant (c)
John Inverarity
Greg Dyer
John Watkins
Chris Matthews
Froggy Thomson
Sam Gannon

Yeah Martyn was a little stiff, it's pretty obvious Hayden should have been the one dropped. He hasn't played like his old self for probably 2 years.

Martyn isn't a slipper, isn't terribly quick and doesn't have a great arm - he was as much a casualty of our poor fielding performance if anything (note: Watson is very good in the field)

Who are they?

Hehe, you must be a young'un. :p

Bruce Francis - (from NSW) opening bat who toured England in 72 - did nothing
Ken Eastwood - (from Vic) played the last test in 70/71 (replaced Lawry), failed in both innings but took a wicket with a full toss :D
Wally Edwards - (from WA) opened in the 74/75 Ashes series with little effect
David Ogilvie - (from Qld) played in WSC era, from memory 78/79 v England
Craig Serjeant (c) - (from WA) also played in WSC era - scored at least one test hundred I can remember (in WI 1978) - I think he played pre-WSC too (did he go to England in 77?)
John Inverarity - (WA/SA) played a lot of Shield cricket, but did not perform at Test level (toured England in 1968 & 1972) despite getting a number of opportunities
Greg Dyer - (from NSW) wk who played mid/late 80's
John Watkins - (from NSW) leggie, who played one test v Pakistan 72/73 - bowled six overs and could barely hit the pitch - but helped Bob Massie (of all people) put on over 80 for the ninth wicket in the second innings which was vital in helping Australia win the game (it was the match where Walker took 6-15 to bowl Australia to victory)
Chris Matthews - (WA/Tas) left arm fast bowler who, like Watkins, could not hit the pitch in his only test
Froggy Thomson - (from Vic) the "windmill action" fast bowling sensation, played vs the Poms in 70/71 and got carted - I have a feeling he also may have been a VFL umpire
Sam Gannon - (from WA) left arm fast bowler who played during WSC - his real name was JB Gannon (John Brian), but he was universally known as Sam

That is all off the top of my head, corrections/additions welcomed!

He is the only one that i remember, as my dad played against him in district cricket. They might of played in the same Vic under 19 side, but will have to check on that.

Hauritz
Bracken
Williams
Muller
Nicholson
Dale
Robertson
Cook
Young

All absolute shockers. But if stuart clark ever gets a game this will become a stupid question.

brad williams and nathan bracken. both absolute hacks. williams, has boobs. bracken, too much hair and has one shining moment, 7/1 vs SA. shouldnt see much more of them hopefully, especially williams.
