i guess we all judge coaches differently. if it is his ability to keep a list of high profile high paid team together with no isssues then juegan, but if it is about developing and finding talent n gettin them to play as a team then surely williams, madigan and our own evo are the 3 teams which have performed beyond their expevtations. most agree parkside performed as expected, north f, yarraville n the rest are below what we expected preseason. guess it is question of coach versus manager?????

well imo, the coach who has a salary cap of $0 to work with and who has his team in the top 5 would get my award:thumbsu:

Your not trying to say you don't pay anyone are you because that would be a little inaccurate.

Laverton have improved and done well which is great to see but making the finals in 2009 is a minimum as there are only 3 to 5 decent teams so an impact come finals time would mean a lot more than making it.

i to have heard whispers about the umpires strike. if you remember back to last time my mail is normally spot on.

the umpires train tonight and will be having an umpires assocation meeting. they held the last strike off as a favour to the clubs while the clubs were going in to challenge the league on several issues, one being the umpires coaching.

That meeting was held last week and the clubs were told stiff shit basically. This left the clubs with no solutions for the umpires and therefore the umpires will be voting on resuming the strike it already put into place. The last strike was never settled - just put on hold as a favour to clubs until they could see what they could do about it.

my mail also says that it will be all senior games but junior games will go ahead with club umpires.

No idea what will happen in regards to replacing rounds etc etc but it might not be a case of replacing one round as the strike is to be ongoing until the league comes to the table with some form of agreement instead of refusing to negotiate. If cancelled D P will be spewing as they have N Sunshine and are prob looking to make up percentage on the top three. haha

Hopefully the twerps at the league will listen to the clubs and umpires and realise that without the clubs and umpires they dont have a league.

PS -anyone notice a heap of umpire registrations on the clearances page?? not sure what thats about - never happened before????

ill umpire........problem solved.....

I am sure with the few new signings will come plenty of harmony amongst certain players of the current playing group that will put there hand up after playing the bulk of the season to make way for some glory sniffers. Seen it all before and i must say it can tear a club apart. Be Careful thats all i'm saying knackers

haha I don't expect a flood of new players joining us (Parkside) as there's no new faces at training. Ash joined us about 6 weeks ago and is fitting in well. If anything I'm sure a few young blokes who have been playing great footy in the 2s are well overdue for a spot in the 1s

no games this week i have just been told.... umps voted to go on strike... i in qld and now i will be spending my few days off on the bloody phone lol...
wrfl will try to prevent tomorow but highly unlikely i am hearing

who knows on the coach of the year i would have always thought that it woul;d go to priemership coach

Coach of the year is named from the team that finishes the home and away season on top of the ladder as it's done before the grand final.

Think your wrong there buddy, i have coached premierships and teams that have finished on top of the ladder over the last 7 years and i am yet to have been named coach of the year.... mite be a personality clash...lol

Enough umpires talk i am sure they will sort themselves out and too be honest i respect that umpires and the job they do is diffucult one but really club umpires would probally do as good a job. Rob green has umpired quite a few reserves games and i think he does a great job and i am sure each club has one who could umpire a game with no bias if there is a strike.

Well the finals race has well and truely heating up with all teams locked in a spot besides Yarraville and Laverton. Deer Park Albanvale and Nth Footscray to fight for 2nd 3rd and 4th spots.

Lavo run hom is a tough one and Yarraville has a slight edge in the run home but with 6 finds ourselves 1 behind and percentage, so advantage lavo at this stage.

Lavo.
Parkside
Nth Sunshine (win)
Albanvale
Yarraville
Vales(win)
Deer Park

Yarra
Albanvale
Deer Park
Nth Sunshine(win)
Lavo
Braybrook(win)
Vales(win)

Yarravile Laverton game will more than likely decide who makes the 5 and with only 2 guaranteed wins Lavo has a real tough run home. Yarra have a slighty better run with 3 guranted(mean no disrespect to Nth Sunshine, Braybrook, Vales) wins but we are hoping to either beat Albanvale this week or beat Deer Park again and get in with a game or tow in hand. I really belive that we have the team to push Albanvale and we obviously have beaten Deer Park already this year so we know we can play the type of football required to beat the top teams.

It was a diffucult match against Coburg up there and before that we where in a postion to beat Nth Footscray at full strenght with a lot of team had the flu and we where with Parkside until half time.

So even tho Albanvale go into the match as favuroties we will give them a red hot run for there money. I belive Yarra will take 5th spot, i guess it is in our hands as long as we win the games we should and we can pinch 1 from Deer Park or Albanvale and beat Lavo we will play finals football this year.

Every match and every goal counts from here on in for both Lavo and Yarraville.

Cain i think people cant help but talk bout the umpire situation, the fact that there will probably be no footy this weekend is a pretty big deal

Umpires will strike no matter what until umpire advisor Terry Gunn stands down thats the apparent news! be interesting to see what happens now?

What is the story with this bloke, he is obviously disliked yet he wants to stay appointed. Why?

Haven't heard anyone throughout the league say anything positive about him, and he seems to be the sole reason behind the strike. Make no mistake here a weekend without games is very bad, Gunn should resign immediately and let the umpires, clubs and players get on with our season

It's time to go Terry:thumbsdown:

I agree he has to stand down, he can not be sacked due to government laws so he must resign.

Surely AFL Victoria can solve this by offering him a job elsewhere, therefor everyone is a winner, WRFL continues and Gunn has a job. It will be a sad day in the history of local football if there are no games played on the weekend. Poor form Umpires, poor form AFLVIC and poor form umpires advisor:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:.

the umpires have asked for the WRFL to use him in another position - at the league or elsewhere so he is not sacked and still gets paid - even pay him out as AFL coaches are - they just want a coach who will coach them - they not saying who - just not him. surely someones ego isnt that big that they will keep in a job where all their employees hate him and strike against him to the point where a whole football community is now against him. the WRFL should have a good look at itself as the clubs are the ones who keep the league going and they are not even listened too!!!!

worst part is - when asked if he will have his contract renewed at the end of the year the WRFL wouldnt say that is unlikely or not gonna happen. So there is no garuntee even if the umpires wait the season out they will get rid of him. they asked the league last year to get rid of him and the league still reappointed him!!!!!!!!!!!

shame for football (only bright side is it is forecast to be 13 and storms :))

Feel free to email these guys with your questions about what is happening this weekend - i am sure they get paid well and would love some feedback form the football community :)

Word out of Wyndhamvale is that 'evo' has been sacked as coach. From all reports evo didn't take training this week and hasn't been seen around the club and fled to Queensland. The departure is believed to be over star recruit Lawrance Angwin and his ongoing 'injurie'. These reports were first raised when up and coming star Simon Rees was wearing his #23 jumper the past few games.

Nice post coming from a geek with nothing better to do than spend all of his time posting on 'Paystation3' and 'Call of Duty' groups. Get back to hanging with ur Star Wars fan club mates.... Poindexter!

what a load of crap...who are u and are u even at the club. i took training tuesday night and i am sure the players wished i wasnt there as they underwent a 45 minute running session.
i am in qld at the moment because it is school holidays and like any half good parent i have taken my son up here to see his new born cousin and too visit the theme parks.i will be home tomoro night and be at the footy all day saturday like every other week to watch the 1stquarter of our 18B's team play then get in the car and drive back to our ground to watch our 18A's play then our 2 games.

simon rees wore number 23 the last few weeks (not last week he wore his normal number) because he wanted a long sleeve and didnt purchase one and laurie had a spare long sleeve.

i would imagine that you are just another shit talker who has no idea, if u are so 'into' the club and informing people of our ongoings why not look on any of the walls in the club rooms and ring me and ask me yourself.

i have always been honest with every thing with my footy and our clubso nicko give me a call ya knob jocky

Hey Cain I noticed a photo of Nick Mallia in action against West Footscray in one of the local papers this week. If you look closely at the pic you will notice that there is something unusual about the ball in the picture........ It has SHERRIN stamped on the side:eek::eek:

Maybe the boys at HQ are taking on board some of the advice that you dish out on here;)
Keep up the good work.

Games are still off at this point and looks unlikely to change but clubs will know either way by 5pm

How good of the wrfl to let us know so earl....
The wrfl shoulkd be very embarressed of this whole situation.
Not only should Terry Gunn step down but so should a few others....They have only their own interest anyway and don't care about the wrfl and if anything enjoy the drama.

im not sure if this subject has been brought up on here before, but has anyone heard or knows why the divvy 2 fixture is only running for 17 rounds, surely you would move earth wind and fire to ensure that each side plays each other twice??
