Deer Park by 20 goals.
North Footscray by 10 goals
Yarra are up against it slowly getting our game together but i think we have a few out who are some of our better players and that will test our depth. We look forward to the challange and are at home so that should be in our advantage.
Parkside by 15 goals.

Good luck to all. :thumbsu:

what about Bray v Wyndhamvale ?

deer park 100 point winners.........

to be honest with you all first game ive seen i actually umpired the magoos today and enjoyed it.........1sts.....very tricky conditions down at dempster park with the wind blowing across the ground all day...........nth well they are gonna be the bottom side no doubt good to see a young side out there for d/p do well in patches.........i counted 9 new players out there from last year all under 21 and 4 or 5 on sidelines who are of the older type experienced players who didnt play.........finally......yes i say in patches all havnt played together at all even in praccy games if all stay fit and new comers who are/will be playing for the lions in the next few weeks.......top 3 finsh as i have said.........cheers

NORTH FOOTSCRAY 2.3 3.7 8.13 10.13 (73)
COBURG DISTRICTS 2.2 6.5 7.6 9.10 (64)

Devils just got over the line today against CD. In the 1st quarter, NF kicked with the aid of a howling breeze but CD were too smart and held them at bay.

Terrible 1st half but lifted in the 2nd to just win. One of those days were perhaps the better side lost. However, the Lions had the wind at the backs in the last term but ran out of legs(and perhaps belief).

Best for Devils were Eldridge, Phillips and Richardson. For the Lions I thought Galoforo, Newitt and Cali were good.

Deer Park will not make the finals mate. Parkside are the best team in the comp and closely followed by Nth and then Albanvale are clearly 3rd. I have no bias but belive Yarra are the 4th best team and the rest are simply making up the numbers. Braybrook or Deer park could sneak in a for the last finals position if they are lucky.

On todays game a very dissapionting loss to Albanvale who where simply too good. The game ended on a sour note as a player from Albanvale snapped is leg badly and the game was stoped and an ambulance was called to assit him. Yarra wish him all the best in his recovery.

We started shocking not kicking a goal in the first quater with the wind and the game was done and dusted then. Teams can expect a much improved performance from Yarra in the second half of the year and i am confident Yarra are as good a team as Albanvale.

Albanvale are a good team tho and will be there abouts again. I played in the middle and played on Endres at times and was impressed with him. He is one of the better midfielders in the comp.

coburg's an interesting team dont hear much from out that way......

Hey Evo,

Who were the Jets boys that played this week? Howd Majak go? definitly got some talent and real athletic ability if he canbe taught where to run and what to do with the ball. R u looking at young Moilvas from the 18s at all. i heard he can play a bit. and maybe a game or 2 int he 1s may be good for his development????

Interesting point Cain - you said in first line Deer Park wont make finals and then said Braybrook or Deer Park for fifth. Considering they beat them last round and braybrook have always struggled in second half of year for depth (their twos also lost to DP) i think Deer Park would be looking good for fith. I actually think Lavo and Wym are bigger threats for 5th than Braybrook. but for all teams early wins in the bank help at the pressure end of the season so good luck to all teams who rack up early wins, regardless of opposition.

On a different note - what are peoples thoughts on the umpires in orange??? Seems pretty stupid that some are in white and some in orange when the runners already wear orange. Seeing as no team where white then they could stay in white????

Good to see many gorunds in good nick . any grounds still looking average???

Well done to Parkside yesterday on a good win. It was tough watching in the second half and seeing my team go down by so much. I guess the class of players like, Juegan, Sir, Tyrell & Davis shows through. The first half was a great example of pressure football from our Lavo boys and the game could have gone anyway in the second half based on the first half result. However the experience and maturity shown by Parkside allowed them to have a significant win.

From our point this is quite dissapointing, seeing as though we have played Nth Foots last week and were near level at 1/2 time and we were level with Parkside at 1/2 time yesterday. We will learn from these experiences and I believe we will be better for it come the second half of the season. Without making any excuses we have 5-6 players to come back into the senior line up over the next couple of weeks and we are looking forward positively that these inclusions will assist us going forward. Well done to Parkside they are a very good side.

I agree with Cain M that Parkside, Nth & Albanvale should be the teams to beat in Div 2 this season, however I think the remaining places are totally up for grabs. I cannot understand that Cain continues to rate Yarraville at number 4 when there is so many games yet to be played in this season.

I think many of the remaining 7 teams will be competitive and we should possibly consider making comments and predictions once teams have at least had a chance to play each other once.

Good luck to all teams for the year.

Cheers

Thats a fair piont but as there are only 10 teams and 6 that can realistly make finals so finishg 5th means your an avergage team and will be knocked out first week of finals(most likely).

Do not be folled by the ladder as Braybrook and Deer Park are not travelling as well as the ladder see's them. Yarra had a hard start playing Parkside and Albanvale early and then we have a good run until Nth Footscray in round 9.

We will be a much improved team come second half of the year(pending injuires off course) and even tho the score board reads a 7 goal win to Albanvale belive me i say if we had not have started so badly and kicked a good score first quater it would of been a really tight match and could of went either way.

Take out the first quater and the last 5 minutes of the 2nd(when albanvale kicked 3 goals) it would have been a really close game. None the less we played crap(first quater) and the game was really lost there. But we take alot of positives out along woth 5 good senior players missing from action(note Albanvale had there fair share of players out aswell).

Laverton will be fighting for a finals spot, but i am concerned about braybrooks depth. Braybrook have the talent but there depth is a concern.

Great to see Whydhamvale doing well its great for the competition and i hope you guys have a win soon. Keep up the good work, you guys are heading in the right direction.

I am going to relax and watch the footy this afternoon and listen to some pussy cat dolls lol. :thumbsu:

So Cain, what you saying is you expect to beat,

Deer Park R4 (A)
Nth Sunshine R5 (A)
Laverton R6 (H)
Braybrook R7 (A)
Wyndhamvale R8 (H)

Good to see you are confident or optimistic? 3 of the above games are away. And I would think that on your current form that 1 game could be pencilled in for a win (R 5) and the others will be tough and very competitive. There has been a significant improvement from these teams since you last played in Div 2.

Good luck.:thumbsu:

As I said a few days ago I think the top 3 is pretty much locked in. As DP have had a good start and if they pick up a few decent players, then perhaps they can challenge.

Braybrook will be thereabouts but while they have picked up Jamie Lane and a couple of others, as pointed out their reserves have been absolute rubbish in recent years. Pearce has a dodgey hammy, Sophoulis suffers from work commitments etc

I don't know enough about Yarraville but know of some of their better players. Don't know what will happen to them if they suffer from injuries.

Lavo. are looking better, but when on the 'up' it is hard to sustain 4 quarters against the top teams. Not sure there is much in their reserves either. Lot of fatties.

To come from where the W'vale were last year and make the finals would be an unbelievable effort. Doesn't matter who they have picked up. Also they have lost their first 3 games to already looking down the barrel.

What happened last year came down to depth of personnel. Late in the year when the weather turns (even) colder and the bodies start to wear, it is the likes of the top 3 in Div2 who usually go clear. Late last year the Devils pumped Parkside (4th) and CD (5th) by more than 100 points as they were low on numbers. The Devils had a strong reserves so could cover a few losses down the line.

My top 5;

North
Parkside
Albanvale
Deer Park
Yarraville

RD1, I must say I disagree with your comments, needless to say thats your opinion and one your entitled too. I would suggest that Lavo will run out the 4 qtrs against the good sides and we should see this in the next few weeks With 5-6 players to return.

As for the comments of fatties in the two's, that is a prerequisite to win a flag. Nth Footscray have done this for years and suceeded.:) BTW, I would suggest that our 2's team is no fatter than any other:thumbsu:.

All the best for the season!

Suprised to see as many goals kicked on a windy old satdy, went down to watch yarraville v albanvale in a fairly dull contest with albanvale really winning it in the first half of the game. Yarraville however seemed ok better than they have been given credit for just lacked quality to keep with albanvale who just got first use of the footy by winning it in the middle their number 6 stood out and got alot of it was prob BOG. Best for Yarra was number 7 who kicked a few later on. Seemed to carried them a bit he got a bit of it though will be interesting don't know how they will go against Deer Park next week should be a real test deer park are yet to be really tested.

You kinda of agreed with me though. Lavo have not been able to sustain it for 4 quarters against NF and Parkside. Hopefully as the season progresses they can develop that.

NF reserves has had more oldies than fatties, but things will change a bit this year with the supas starting next weekend. Lot of old faces returning to play which is good.

No doubt RD1, we have struggled in the last 2 weeks to finish off. I hope and believe that this will change.

Did Henderson and Bassi play for Albanvale, on the website it still has there clearances as pending, maybe they wont be cleared ?

Numer 6 was Endres and number 7 was Mansbridge. I played on endres for parts of the game he is a very good player and very smart. I ended up with 5.6 and 29 touches and he would of had alteast 30 odd touches himself and a couple of goals.

Number 10 is a good player for Albanvale also. Albanvale are voluarable down back and any team with quality forwards that can get good delivery will do some damage against them.

I agree with all that teams have improved over the years like Vales, Lavo, Deer Park etc. I still think there is a gap between the top 4 teams and the rest(but the gap is closing).

Still think Nth and Parkside at this stage are clear top 2 and Albanvale and Yarra are chasing those two. Then a group of Deer park, Braybrook, Lavo, Coburg and chasing with Whydhamvale also possibley in the mix but 0 and 3 start makes it hard to make the finals.

For the record thats not to say on there day that any team bar Nth Sunshine could casue an upset and thats great for all teams involved. It shapes up as one of the more interesting Div 2 seasons on recent memory and is by far the most evem comp in Div 2 in some years.

Cain, please. You kicked 4 and 2 were in the last 10 mins when the game was over. Endres flogged you and there is no chance you had 29 touches. Mate you would have been lucky to have 8 touches in the first half ( when the game was there to be won)

Dont put Yarra with Albanvale mate, we are a 10 goal better side than you guys. We played about 2 and half quarters and gave away about 30 free kicks, had 6 out and still beat you by 50.

Also any team with quality forwards who get good delivery will do damage no matter what backline you have...... if our back line is not strong how come you guys could not kick a goal in the first quarter with a 4 goal breeze, Please mate, dont tell lies.

If you are that confident about matching us, send me a PM next time we play and we can have a wager on it.......LOL

On another note, Uniden, No hendo and Bassi did not play. They were selected on the Thursday night but were not cleared in time. All is good with sydenham, they have cleared the boys the WRFL just didnt process it in time, they will be up for selection this week. Along with a few others no doubt.

Dont worry about Albanvale, we will more than mix in with ParKside and Nth Foots. :thumbsu::)

man u played alright in the 2nd half but did f#@k all in the first half, dont tell porky pies.. and theres no way u had 11 shots on goal...
for all the big footy boys i gave cain a heap on the field but he jst didnt budge keep his mouth shut and played footy to my disapointment lol
cain m aint a bad bloke, but man lay off the stats they mean nothing when u lose:thumbsu:

No need to get all ragy up on me mate. :D

There are no lies told her mate. For one you guys kicked our ass i will cop that on the chin. I am no position to arugue with you as we lost and we where well beaten by a better team in most areas of the ground.

We have stats people i kicked 0.3 pionts in the first quater. 0.0 in the second 3.2 in the third and 2.1 in the last(not that it matters any way). We have stats people at the club and mine where 19 and 9= 28.

Endres is a great player and a great pick up for the club and is of the 3 games i have played he is one of the best midfielders in the comp. Not sure he killed me mate, we where not directly playing on one another but at times we where and i am niot sure you can say he killed me if i return those stats.

Its not about me anyway mate i was only responding to a post that 6 was best on groud and number 7 was Yarra best.

I do belive that if we play a good first quater we simply would of beat you yesterday. We kicked more goals into the brezze and if we had of kicked a health score first quater the game is a close one.

We had 5 out who are where some of our better players so i guess that would cancell each other out in that regard. Look forward to the next game as i am putting it on the line that the result will be a close on either way.

And pending injuires i am happy to have a slab of Crownies on the match next time champ. You should take the criritisim in a positive way, you guys where way to good on the day and deserved to win.

I still belive that come the second half of the season we will be a much better oiled unit and we will push you guys if not beat you. For now Yarra need to train hard and keep learning as a team and we will get there, i have no doubt.

Hope the player who injured his leg is on the mend send my best wished to him please. :thumbsu:
