Parkside is a proud club when it suits them. When they are financially stronger than other clubs and beating up on them they are proud. When they make it to a higher level and look like they may not win so many games..... not so proud.

The league bent and broke every rule in the book to allow them back to Div 3 to establish themselves again. They are now established. If moving them up to Div 2 can play any role at all in saving another club they should not be given the option.
So much this^^^

Proud club in 90s early 2000s then the imbeciles started running the asylum

Good luck to Glen Orden. IMO way too many teams in the City of Wyndham. Hoppers, Werribee DIstricts,Wyndamvale, Wyndam Suns, Manor Lakes, Glen Orden, Tarneit and Centrals in the Geelong league and Laverton down the road. All fighting hard for juniors and sponsors.

I agree that we have plenty of sides in our area making it hard to spread the load. And you'd normally think that the richest and most successful sides reel in the most bums on seats. But how do we explain a club you missed in that list. Westbourne. Playing in amateur comp where money is not paid. Have been averaging 45 to 50 on the track. Dont have juniors.
What are they or have they been doing that a club like Glen Orden for example arent or havent done. Laverton, West Footscray and Manor Lakes probably have fallen into similar brackets over the last few years. Struggled to get blokes on the track regularly.
Culture will outlast coin. And employ a no dickheads policy so the club is attractive to new people.

One thing Westbourne and other amateur clubs have are links to a well regarded institution who churn out hundreds of graduates ever year, most of whom have an emotion attachment to it. A football playing Westbourne VCE graduate looking for a footy club would find the old school team an attractive place to kick the footy. Don't need juniors.

Maybe at otger clubs/schools like St.bernards St.Kevins etc.
I reckon Westbourne would have 3 or 4 players from tge school. But they have come back to the club via mates after being away from the school for a while.
The Football coach at westbourne coaches Werribee Districts so I wouldnt imagine the trend will change in the near future.

If Glen Orden manage to get a team up, it wont be to Div 2 standard.
A division that is fast becoming a non event due to lack of good or even competition.

Main difference is Westbourne is playing against other clubs in the same position. Amateur league is so much closer and the gap between divisions not as big because it is a level playing field in terms of player budgets. WRFL is struggling because ordinary players are getting paid to play at richer clubs and people don't want to come up against what are turning into huge franchises, when all they really want to do is have a kick of the footy with their mates. Club culture certainly has something to do with it, but comparing the WRFL clubs to amateur clubs is chalk and cheese.

Sad news ,sadly sign of times sides that spent money on mercenaries over last 4 years have come a cropper. Darkside maybe forced up ?

Disappointing and sad to hear. Wasn't long ago they were playing div 1...

6 teams in Div 2.... surely one side comes up from Div 3.. create two 7 team divisions

Yeah great points.
Wasnt my intention to sound as if I was comparing wrfl to Ammos. Just stating that if a side offering no coin and having zero juniors can find a way to generate interest and keep its list despite local clubs, as you correctly mentioned offering dollars to their players, is a credit to them and something a few clubs could probably learn something from.

Shocking to see an iconic local club fall apart. Even Evo wouldn't be happy with this.

It is with great sadness that I advise that Glenorden will not be fielding senior football teams in 2017.
Not good to hear guys. Bad for footy in general. It will be interesting to see how this effects the end make up of the Leagues this year, and also how long it takes for the League bosses to let us all know what will happen now. Maybe it all stays as is, but the bye disappears?

Point Cook in the Ammos too, big area to feed from , plenty of juniors. It is tough for all and not an exclusive WRFL problem, Australia wide. Have a look at Craigieburn, won the flag easily, promoted, now struggling for players as some of them don't want to play in a higher division.
Good luck to all, don't like to see clubs fall over.

Wont happen Clubs in both Div2 and 3 have organised there social and other events according to the draws of each division. If there is 6 teams in div 2 so be it 15 rounds playing each other 3 times wont hurt in the short term and hopefully a few teams from div 3 will come up next year But in saying this the league must let div 3 clubs know early in this season that this will happen and not leave it till end of the season in telling clubs that the top 2 sides will be coming up

Storm on reports I have heard will be a good side .Just reading on clearances ex Deer Park player J Wong wants to play at Newport and thinking that this will not be a 2 horse race as most suggest.

Hey Ando, Did hear this rumour of Wong heading to Newport pre Xmas but just didn't believe it. If true he will kill it and kick about 150 this season. His a top level metro/country full forward.

Even 2 Wongs don't make a side. They will need more than that to compete with the top sides. They have lost the coach and their other gun, so they are coming from a fair way back, to compete with Yarra & Norf.

Yeah I agree, and not sure why they would not reappoint Williams, but if they get enough forward entries Wong will destroy div2. Would have to be the best credential full forward to play div2 for some time. Think Lake played in multiple positions for CS.
I didn't say they will win the premiership but he will kick plenty.

You will find concentrating on his job ,professional tennis coach in Williamstown will struggle to fully commit. Big call on 150 goals John Coleman last man to kick 150 in a season haha
