So what is the date of the new start to the year? Is it 4 weeks later than Div 1 and 3?

NEW DIVISION 2 FIXTURE RELEASED

FOLLOWING consultation with all Division 2 clubs, the 2017 Division 2 fixture has been redrawn.

The revised fixture follows Glen Orden Football Club’s withdrawal from senior football in 2017 due to a lack of players.

The 2017 Division 2 fixture now sees a six-team competition playing over 15 rounds, with each team playing their opposition three times over the course of the season.

The Division 2 season will commence April 22.

Western Region Football League CEO Matthew Duck said that while the six-team division was not ideal, it was an inevitable outcome for this season.

“Once it became apparent beyond any doubt that Glen Orden Football Club would not field senior teams in 2017, a number of different fixturing scenarios were explored. However, the structure that we’ve arrived upon was really the only viable option,” he said.

Duck said the league would do all that it could to help re-establish Glen Orden as a senior entity in 2018.

“We acknowledge the challenges the club face, but we’re buoyed by the commitment and energy displayed by the club to see senior footy return, and we are confident that through a considerable combined effort we’ll see that happen in 2018.”

The WRFL Board will conduct a comprehensive review of competition structures in 2017 with the view to improving the competitive balance between clubs and the evenness of the respective divisions.

The new fixture will be uploaded to the WRFL website in coming days.

Solution to boring 2017 div 2.
Merge top 3 div 3 teams with div 2 and get rid of manor lakes and and west Footscray.

This is going to be the most uneventful div 3 and 2 seasons.

would be great but unfortunately too late.. there should have been a restructure a long time ago. Div. 2 is an absolute mess.
Fingers crossed they do this next year and by either putting both divisions together or majorly restructuring both. They probably believe there would be too much backlash or problems associated with it, or too much paperwork to reorganise everything.

No need to dump the Roosters, traveling very nicely on and off the field!
I'm basing my opinion of past season performances and current standings, i hope that all bottom of the ladder teams come up and perform and make it and overall competitive for all teams involved. However keeping teams like manor lakes in div 2 is a joke, most of the players skills down there are div 3 players standard or even below (if that could be even possible). Glen Orden should also just start in Div 3 just to be safe and grow back up again.

Need to get this div up and running TIPS

Nth Footscray by 20 over Newport
Yarraville by 25 over Manor Lakes
Albanvale by 12 over West Footscray

Be interesting to see how Newport shape up, hope ML and WF improve. Game is at Newport in R1, NF have never played the Power there, could be interesting.

Think Yarraville will win by more.

NF did play Newport many years ago and it didn't end well..A certain gun FF (who could handle himself well) copped plenty from over the fence. Totally uncalled for. I'm guessing things have changed and improved with the new Power identity. Haha

Might as well contribute something.

Nth Footscray by 40 over Newport
Yarraville by 36 over Manor Lakes.
Albanvale by 50 over West Footscray.

Good effort, 3 from 3, margins near the mark, ex West Footscray. Signs of improvement from ML and WF, Newport look decent at this level already.

Think it was 6 unanswered goals by Yarraville in the 3rd quater was the difference..
Took Nth til the last to break away, so maybe fighting for 3rd and 4th spot could be the highlight of the season ?...whos the ex Wests ?

I see J.lampi now at north Footscray.. love to get around that bloke. Seen him play a fair bit and got best on the weekend. Can play the kid smokey for the league BNF and if dealtera can get enough ball inside 50 will win the goal kicking.. another one that love to change clubs IMO

Hi- where has D'Altera been playing since his time at Port Colts. Did he go to Spotty?? His an ex Willy junior player so doesnt have any ties to a specific club.

Hi turbo after port colts he was at north Footscray when Jason Clarke coached them for a year then went to Altona. Not sure if he played after that but now see him pop up at Newport.

That's interesting, Meant re West that your prediction margins were spot on except West got closer than you thought.
