WWE on the downhill

Wrestling is just too predictable now days. You can sit there during an entire PPV match, and see spots being set up from a mile away. You can get a general feel for the outcome of a match (Especially a Cena match) aswell.

I miss the days where you didn't know what would happen next. When a feud actually meant something, and drew you in. Basista hates Cena because he's not the face of the company? Oh how exciting.

Also, the internet has had a HUGE influence on wrestling. Rumors, news leaks, spoilers all have had negative influences on professional wrestling. For an example, lets use the Christian return. It was reported for months that Christian had left TNA to sign with WWE again. Mysterious Jeff Hardy attacks, Christian returning.. Jeff feuding with Edge.. the crowds started Christian chants during promos and matches between Jeff and Edge. Where say in the 90's people would show up, and people would completely lose their shit, as they had no idea why they would be there.

All in all, professional wrestling as a whole is on the downhill. It'll never ever reach it's glory days again, even if TNA succeeds(lol)

IMO WWF used to be aimed at older men probably anywhere from 16+ range. Now they have figured most of the people who will actually buy their merchandise are 10 yr old boys, hence they have change WWE to entice more boys to like watching it, hence ruining what we all grew up watching.

Personally, around Wrestlemania XX I started noticing subtle changes that have made me barely watch WWE anymore. I watch it very frequently around once a month, and almost every time there is a new bunch of people i Have never even heard of before as the next big thing. I liked it back in the day when you had a core group of about 10-20 guys who were among the top ranks for years.

Couldn't agree more, stopped watching for a couple of years, have been watching for the last 6 months, i dont know whether i have been surprised at any of the results.

i remember the old days, when the invasion was happening, when kurt angle traded on the wwf, i necer saw that coming, now if you cant work out who is gonna win you got rocks in your head.

Now i know you guys love CM Punk, but this bloke bores me to tears, this straight edge society crap isnt a stable, they wanna have a look at nwo or right to censor, they were your classic stables. alright he might be good in the ring, but get him off the mic.

Lastly the pg stuff makes me sick, ok i dont need to see people being dropped on thumbtacks but a ref stopping a match to wipe some blood of someones eyebrow, pe-lease tell me it hasnt got to that?

Bring back the stables, looking back I miss the likes of Evolution, Corporation and the Nation.

Agreed i know of late we had DX but that wasn't really a stable and we also got SES if you can call that a stable. Legacy was probably the only true stable we had since Evolution.

I would also like to see some more brand invasions again maybe even the NXT rookies start invading RAW and SD.

Although the WWE is on the downhill they have done some things of late that have made it a little better for me too watch the split of Cryme Tyme has been one of the mark out moments of the year so far for me. Also been a couple of surprises (like Swagger winning MITB) to keep us guessing but nearly not enough. What i have been most disappointed about though is how Christian is being used at the moment the guy is one of if not the best in the business and he hasn't really had anything since going to RAW same goes with Regal (personally i think he should be the GM of RAW).

Punk's mic work is his greatest attribute IMO.

Christian is one of my favorites now, excellent skills. He should be up there fighting for the title with Kane.

In the ring Christian is boring in the WWE, where he can't exploit his high flying style that suited him to a tee in TNA. The "Instant Clasic" version compared to what we do see of Christian now is boring hence backing up this thread on the downhill of WWE.

On another note Sheamus was pretty funny on Raw in London when he bagged England calling it a fallen empire or something lol.

Swagger is another one who i find is a good in ring wrestler but his finisher move looks incredibly awkward when delivering.

At the moment in WWE i see the future in guys like Punk, Orton, Dibiasi but the cupboard is extremely bare.

Too many aging top tier wrestlers.

Also the top tier guys always destroy the mid tier guys, there shouldn't be as big a gap especially if the mid tier guys are the future.

I'd also like to see more multilayer fueds. Not your standard Orton and HHH, Cena and Orton, Cena and Batista.

Why doesnt legacy team up with Sheamus and Batista. That would be a pretty badass group.

I'd like to see Cena get multiple beatings.

NXT just sucks

Dont be so Cynical:D

When the attitude era ended is when it all started to go to shit. Kane took off his mask, Mankind, Austin, Rock retired and they have not been able to replace them.

Where are the mysterious wreslters with masks fighting backstage? Remember all those biffs between taker, kane, mankind? Or in the streets? Or in the supermarket (Booker T vs Austin lol). Even though Goldust was a bit cringy with his parodies it was still enjoyable.

They have lost that "open universe" feeling and it all feels very confined and too much like a movie theartre.

Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, dolph ziggler all very vanilla to me. Three piles of the same sh%^.

Next 10 years will be telling.

I'd still rather watch WWE 'on the downhill' than TNA any day of the week, brother!

Vince knows a lot of people have a similar opinion, so he knows he can serve up absolute crap yet still get their same audience watching. When WCW was around, Vince had a fight on his hands to keep viewers interested, so had to pull out all the stops to remain viable.

Until a serious competitor comes along (something the WWE don't view TNA as), they will keep serving up crap.
