After such a good, intricate, detailed first 4 years of the Bloodline story, this second act stinks. They're rushing it to get to War Games at Survivor Series without really bothering to explain why Jey and Sami would forgive Roman, when Roman didn't even apologise.
I don't think Jey really has forgiven Roman? He's straight up said he doesn't trust him, but for the sake of dealing with a worse threat he's putting it aside for now.

Because of the “WWE/HHH can do no wrong” narrative, I guess?

Not sure it's that. I think outside of Mania and the other post mania international PLEs, been pretty lackluster in 2024. This was a poor PLE though.

They miss Punk and Drew something shocking though. Didn't help AJ getting injured either.

Still can't get over not putting Bronson over though.

The facial reactions from Roman are unbelievable, he can do more with a look then what most people can do with a mic.

It's massive what he has done with the character.

probably just chuck him back in the feud with a returning Braun?
Possibly.

His momentum has been halted. WWE should have been pushing him all the way to a title shot the moment he gave R-Truth and Rollins record Tsunamis the crowd were full on behind him.

They did the same thing with Shayna Bazler she had all this momentum after she sent Rousey packing and her "I'm gonna set it all on fire" promo

In the end it fizzled into nothing and now she's relegated in a stable with Zoey and Davile

A boring forgettable event.

I have no idea why they can’t just try and make these events good? All the wrestlers are already there, just treat it like a normal premium event.

I mean, they quite deliberately have demonstrated that neither has forgiven him yet

Basically just annoying at this point is the non-stop build up tease, then deliver the exact same non-event routine they're doing with Tiffany and Nia.

Between that and Liv, who really just doesn't feel good enough to be the lead champion, it feels like both womens divisions have significantly regressed this year.

Need Rhea back

These shows are never any good, I'm not sure why people expected any different?

Even if results are predictable/inconsequential the matches and action is usually still pretty good. Aside from an excellent final match, the US title match being ok and women's tag average (which was better than I expected for a messy multi team match) it was sub standard. Bloodline v bloodline was especially poor and it shouldn't be and Liv v Nia an overbooked botch fest by the end.

Didn’t bother with the show as said before by someone else it’s always the worst PLE of the year.

I didn't word my post very well. I still can't figure out the correct wording now.

What I mean is, sometime between Crown Jewel and Survivor Series the beef is going to be squashed. Reigns treated these guys like shit for 4 years, and they're going to forgive him before War Games.

Why? They haven't set up any reason for forgiveness, and the notion that Solo is worse or the enemy of my enemy is just really lazy story telling.

We needed a period of atonement from Reigns is what I'm getting at. He needed struggle, he needed odds against him, and through that process he needed to realise what he'd done - and then you can have guys start to forgive him.

As it is? He's still almost heelish. He doesn't care about his family or the fans, he only cares about being the Tribal Chief and the champ.

And he lost today being that way. That was the story they're telling. The team is not unified, and won't unify, unless he fixes it.

This is 100% how I feel it’s just forced at this point. Roman’s done nothing to atone for everything he put people thru so why would they help him at all.
Like the team up him and Cody had why would that happen after way he terrorised him for years. It’s just so forced.

Plus the bloodline matches are just ass their worst on the card but usually main event. Thank god that didn’t happen.

My biggest issue is the bloodline matches are so bad if you take story telling out of the them the wrestling and pace of matches is just horrible.
It’s reverse aew all story horrible wrestling. Where as aew is no story good wrestling.

just have to make them good enough so the King/Prince doesn't cancel the deal or ground your plane on the tarmac. ;)

(or the 3rd thing... yikes!)

I watched most of the show live the other night but given it was so late I watched it again with my support worker today.

Bloodline Vs New Bloodline -- advanced what they needed to do and push the story towards War Games. My SW is a massive Roman mark and she was disappointed with this match. Even as a casual could tell that this had a "going through he motions" feel to it. A little too safe but understandably so given a big part of the payoff to this feud will happen less than a month away.

4-way women's tag title match -- was hoping Chelsea and Piper would get the win. Same ol'. Not bad.

Seth Vs Bronson - Seth did a reasonable job of making Bronson look like a monster again. I'm not as down about this match as some of you given the way it played out at the end. I suspect Bronson gets his big win at Survivor Series.

Women's match -- they spent too much energy pushing Tiffy Time. I had a feeling Liv would get the win as she seems to be one of the WWE's poster girls when it comes to their Saudi Arabia shows.

3-way match - I'm glad that LA Knight retained.

Main Event - I went into the match with the belief that whoever won out of these two will be the one who lost their main title first. I also hoped that Gunther was going to get a good long reign, possibly all of the way out to this time next year. It really could come down to what the rosters shape up as being come the new year. A feeling Gunther and Cody will swap brands which will be just fine for Gunther. Either way, Cody gets the win so I believe he'll drop his title before Gunther.

Save for attendance and a couple of feuds (you hit on Punk Vs Drew) I agree this year has been really mediocre. Some of the names they had built in 2023 (LA Knight) seem to have had their momentum stalled somewhat as well. Sadly, AEW hasn't really done itself any favors in picking up the slack and running with it. Again, some good feuds over there and some stellar matches but not a whole lot of consistent must watch television from either company.
