AEW has a champion who wrestles more than any other guy over 40, and puts on actual quality matches (and puts over talent too!)

In 2019:
  • Chris Jericho has wrestled 5 matches
  • Brock Lesnar has wrestled 5 matches (6 if you count MITB)
So tell me again about how Chris Jericho "wrestles more than any other guy over 40"

Hager is a wrestler turned MMA fighter.

PS: It was Jim Ross who focused on Hager being an 'undefeated MMA star from Bellator'.

Comparing Jack Swagger to this podgy 40-year-old looking guy is disingenuous.

...and somehow Cain Velasquez has still wrestled more than Jake Hager in 2019. People saying that Cain can't wrestle obviously hasn't seen either of his tag matches for AAA.

Yeah, ‘cos match lengths don’t matter. How many of those Brock matches have been under 5mins, without him taking any (or very little) damage/moves?
His matches are a joke, where as Jerichos are highly entertaining stories (with this being wrestling and all)..?

And why wouldn’t Ross point that out? Every wrestling fan already knows who he is, and his history in wrestling. Pretty logical stuff there.

Edit: Lesnars 5 “matches” this year:
00:03
13:18
00:13
02:29
08:36
(And yeah, if you wanna include the MITB, another ~30seconds)..

Compare that to Jericho’s 1hr52 in the ring this year and it becomes obvious why they aren’t equivalent.

Some effort there!

I don't care.

Plenty do. It's a legitimate accolade that has currency in the marketplace. Two-fold for having the current undisputed HW boxing champ in Tyson Fury there too. It's not just about placating the diehards that will watch regardless. They're still trying to milk dollars from outside the core pro wrestling fanbase, as any business should try to grow and expand their reach.

Given how "mainstream" MMA has become, and the size and importance of the Latino market (something we in Australia don't truly understand), particularly in wrestling and combat sports, and the legitimate history between them, it makes great logical business sense to bring Velasquez in as a foil for Lesnar at this point, and will bring eyes to the product, and make WWE bigger money than most other viable options for a Lesnar opponent, and continuing to milk that cow.

Soo I'll ask the question again... How does Chris Jericho "wrestles more than any other guy over the age of 40". Remembering that AJ Styles is 42.

See your post below as a reminder....

More excited about Tyson Fury/Braun as far as the pointless combat sports crossover stakes go tbh.

This could be a massive mainstream draw on its own. Add Lesnar/Cain on the same WrestleMania card (and maybe a Ronda return vs. Becky), and you're looking at more eyes on WWE than we've seen in ages, no matter how much the hardcores "don't care".

This is the smartest on-screen business WWE has done in a while, and could lead to some massive, massive payoffs for them.

Forgot about AJ. He’s the king. If you want me to be precise with my words, then I should have said, “who wrestles and turns up, compared to almost all other 42+ year old guys, AJ excluded”

It would've made your point make more sense rather than just come across as an AEW Fanboi.

Chris Jericho has barely wrestled in 2019 either. He may've had almost 2 hours ring time, but that's only across 5 matches.

Haters are gonna hate, but I’m a long time sports entertainment fan and I really enjoyed that episode. I’m sorta over people telling me how to enjoy my wrestling these days.

Love the new look and feel of the set and camera work, Im thrilled pyro is back, much prefer the two commentators over three, and I even enjoyed and understood the ending (and I’ve never had an interest in MMA nor have a great knowledge of their history).

Crossovers in wrestling are nothing new and have made some huge mainstream headlines before and I suspect this will be no different. Important for a premier episode

My only gripe would be that I’d rather of not had certain top names on the show then just hand them a jobbers/commercial break entrance and a meaningless match to just have them on the card.

Tbf it's a bit hard for Jericho to wrestle more than he has in 2019 considering the company he's working for has just started up and they've only ever had like half a dozen shows that he could possibly perform on.
Compare that to Brock who's company that works for him has like a dozen hours of programming per week & 2 ppvs a month that I'm sure he could have squeezed into if he really wanted to.
Jericho was still popping up at random WWE house shows to wrestle matches that went for longer than Brock wrestles in a year when he was also touring with his band prior to his NJPW/AEW stints

Didn't get to watch smackdown yet. But seen the set smackdown 100% better than raw. Really interested to watch the replay am a Velasquez fan will be interesting to see how he goes.

Having an out-of-shape MMA fighter make a surprise appearance on the blue brand has been done before... ;)

Using ‘I don’t care’ as a response to a great point just because it doesn’t match your opinion is disingenuous

He’s massive. Plenty of eyes will see this. Jack Swagger would be a good TNA champ

TBH I’m more interested in how Hager goes. I think the guy has all the physical tools to be an WWE/AEW champ. Hopefully his mic work has improved.

Jesus they’ve left F all time for the title main event! Brock squashing Kofi? Rey or even Dominic interference for Kofi win?

Just Make Kofi Long Reign as WWE Title Treated with Crap like that.

Make me NOT Watch Smackdown as won't see Brock for a While now
