Holy s**t!

Crazy.

Hows the pessimistic guys carrying on in here lol get a grip

For the casual wrestling fan, and even less casual MMA fan, why’s this such a holy shit moment?
What were the crowd chanting at them during the final few mins?

I just don’t get why an out of shape looking guy (admittedly he is a good mma fighter), with a bung knee, is such a holy shit moment? Surely he can’t “wrestle” in any way shape or form

What’s the crossover in audiences that care about him? Or for that matter, even recognise him? I’d dare say less than 10% of wwe fans know or care about him?

Kofi deserved a better showing than what he got--- if you're going to end his reign like that; at least use a minute or two of the excess time (after they finished 3 minutes early) to focus on a devastated Kofi.

Here's hoping that Kofi can at least get a re-match on PPV that goes a bit longer-- even if Brock Lesnar is FOX's choice as WWE Champion.

He won't be champion again and he'll be drafted to Raw.

I’d be happy if The New Day got drafted to Raw; but I feel that Kofi deserves a re-match at Hell in a Cell (even though he loses) to show what he can do against Brock.

The Smackdown match can be for the ‘Fox/new’ fans; while a Hell in a Cell re-match can be for the WWE fans who have followed Kofi’s journey.

Not a chance in hell they’ll throw a last minute Lesnar cell match (or any match with him) on the card.

Going by the internet/Facebook wrestling pages reactions, this finish is bad bad news for actual wrestling fans.

Again, a better outcome couldn’t have been delivered for AEW today. They are trying to be everything that last 10mins wasn’t. I’m sure they’ve just won a big chunk of hardcore wrestling fans who turned off Smackdown saying “fkk this”

  • An old champion who is past their prime with a gut
  • A debut of an MMA wrestler at the end of the debut episode
Which show am I talking about?

Because I sat on my couch and said ‘holy shit’ when he came out? Wtf kind of question is that lol.

The dude can do hurricanrana’s but yeah can’t wrestle man.

Good that people are invested in being negative about WWE but some people just care and bag it way too much. Just relax and enjoy or don’t watch

After attending the NJPW show in Melbourne in June, and watching Game Changer Wrestling's shambolic Tournament of Survival IV, I've been off all wrestling for about three months, after and on-and-off relationship of over 20 years.

I haven't watched any WWE since about May, but I thought I'd give the big FOX debut a go, just to see the spectacle. Decent theme song, nice set, but mainly had three words to sum it up - Same old sh*t.

I was going to give the AEW debut episode a shot too, but I don't think I'll bother. I really don't have any desire for this stuff anymore, and just don't want to see it. It's not that it's not wild or dangerous enough (there's plenty of insane deathmatch stuff that I've seen, and kind of wish that I could un-see, from the past couple of years), it just doesn't speak to me anymore. I still give the Conrad Thompson podcasts a listen, but even they've become a bit too repetitive and a chore to get through (along with now being low-key shill vehicles for WWE and AEW), so I can take or leave those.

It's meant to be a high point in recent wrestling history, but I can't recall having less curiosity and drive and interest in the wrestling business (and combat sports in general, despite the UFC invading Australia this weekend, and having been wild for MMA for ages too, and the arrival of Cain Velasquez in WWE) since before I began watching at age 10. And I'm OK with that. Maybe it's no more wrestling for me. I'm not disenchanted with it, or waiting for it to become a certain way again. It just doesn't interest me anymore, so I'll leave it be.

Smackdown.

AEW has a champion who wrestles more than any other guy over 40, and puts on actual quality matches (and puts over talent too!)

Hager is a wrestler turned MMA fighter. Cain is the opposite.
