has the league ever really pushed hard to go the other way? it seems content on drifting out towards yea, alexandra, thorton etc. and the geographical landscape has shifted from what the league was. I think Mt. Evelyn coming to the league has been a big tick, probably for both parties. But what about a serious crack at Coldstream potentially lilydale, kilsyth, montrose, mooralbark, and even UFTG.

May sound stupid to some, but why let efl boundaries drift further east and not let MD boundaries drift further west...

The topic has expanded a bit.
First, a number of fringe clubs have been carefully watching us for some time and may make the move one day.
Second, the review concentrates on eastern metro region. It appears that it has been a concern for AFLVic for a period of time and Silvan's transfer attempt finally forced the AFL's hand. I can only guess that there has been some disquiet in the metro region, some of it centring on the expansionism of the EFL. Only a guess, mind you.
The remainder of country Vic is largely in the hands of the VCFL, but areas bordering the VMFL area are deeply affected by metro leagues attitudes to their country neighbours. This also impacts on Netball Vic which has established a huge stake in the country regions. The relationship between football and netball in the state is now a prime issue for both sports and will probably come under serious consideration in some determinations. Again, all a guess, but I think it is becoming more important.
Other things I would hope are considered are: the development of separate 'elite metro/regional club' competition/s (to satisfy those ambitious clubs), the expansion of netball into metro clubs and maybe additional pathways (i.e. via the elite competitions?) for aspiring players to be able to feed into the VFL/AFL development programs.
The review recommendations will be handed down in a few weeks and, like Medevil, I think little will actually change - at least in the short term. The AFL may just set some ground rules to "pull everyone into line", thus ensuring that any future developments will suit the AFL's bigger picture.
Then again, it may all just be smoke and mirrors.
What will happen with the YVMDFL or country footy? That is a separate thread and falls into VCFL territory.

P.S. While it is conceded that the top division of EFL is a very strong club comp, it would be wise to remember that the VAFA has an equally powerful top division.

S H I T Monnie! this is getting way to deep, its just a silly game after all,and as long as Collingwood are premiers this year, then the world will spin in a nice smooth, functional manner! if they don't, well expect world wide poo flinging at bus stops and the like:eek:, maybe some of the reminate's might end up on your letter box or mail slot:D

Thanks. I was actually fishing for a comment/laugh on Collingwood supporters and their command of the English language. Perhaps I'll leave that for another day and just stick to the local stuff.

Well that's hardly fair. English isn't their first language! :D

Are there any retirements that may have happened over the weekend for clubs that have finished H&A seasons, or knocked out of todays Div 2 finals ?

Always worth recognising these guys !

Yep that was a spelling mistake, but i did have 30 beers and 16 Jeam Beam cans yesterday, maybe i was a touch impaired, but this could be the year that Collingwood and Yarra Junction break their 20 year premiership drought, the mighty Eagles looked pretty good today, we might have to employ a campanologist on September 25 if the Pies get up, and i'll definitely need a zymurgy aswell, but if we lose i'll resemble a xanthochroid!!!!!:D

I'm a Pies man and even I'm scared if they happen to get up this year... Can't see it happening, but you never know.

Gee - I picked a great game last night to be the one I went to for the season!!!

I'm tipping there's a whole bunch that have 'retired' until about April next year and they get the itch, or sick of persisient phone calls from the coach, or the missus kicks them out of the house on Saturday's...

I reckon you, Mick and Andy Greenall have 'retired' quite a few seasons in the past ;)

If anyone's looking for a laugh, check out the forum on the EFL website. Vermont has missed the finals for the first time in 23 years after losing the last game at Sth Croydons mudpit.

From what I read apparently Vermont even offered Sth Croydon $10K to move the game to Vermont...

Some of the best sledging i've seen in quite a while. They're not getting a lot of sympathy either.

Not sure what level of footy you played at burnt out or how many games of footy you have watched but I have played both 2nd division efl and 1st division yv and not 1 side in 1st division would get close to a 2nd division efl side
No havn't played much mainly been a spectator, so if its such a good standard you must have been or you are a great player in the YVMDFL not sure who you would be, lol

Ah, a armchair expert, I've came across plenty of your type before!! But unless you have played at both levels your opinion doesn't hold much weight lol

lol yes and a good judge, please tell me again, you think the top, lets say 4 yvmd sides wouldnt fit staight into 2nd div efl and be competative, and couldnt compete against 1st div lower sides. If you think that you have to get your rose coloured glasses off. Lets go back a few years because they are names you might know. 2oo7 silvan side with 4 ex afl names just out of afl, blended with 1st div efl and country rep players u tell me 10 2nd div Efl sides would beat that team lol and it wouldnt compete with 1st div lower sides. Take it from me the top end of the yvmdfl is still as good as 2007 and Woori beat that side 2 times during that yr so there wasnt much diff between them

A debate that will forever rage. What division will the YVMDFL fit into in the EFL? As a player that has only played 1st division YVMDFL I have often wondered. If what you say is true Geehard, and you have played both so you would be educated to comment, Woori Yallock would not beat one team in 2nd division? Or Upwey last year would not have won one game in 2nd division last year? Would love to know your thoughts

i gather your from woori,so how is your cousin going? are you guys still married!!! LOL:D

Can someone elighten me as to why the league f*^k around with the finals fixture. Why did the div 1 reserves finals get moved? I know that Olinda 1s are at Alex and the 2s should've been at Healesville.
Now they are at the same ground, which is fine but now the league has moved other clubs around.
Examples: Mt eve 1s at Alex 2s at Healesville (ladder positions meant that they should play at the same ground)
Warby 18s at healesville now Warby 2s changed to Alex.

It may seem petty but why list Qualifying Finals at Healesville and Elimination Finals at Alex only to change!

Further to this I do understand the league changing to suit clubs IF this doesn't effect others. If it does like in this case then Elimination Finals play at the same ground and Qualifying Finals at the same ground

I understand your frustration Rip It Up, but I think the games were moved based on Upwey and Gembrooks 2's and 18's, not Olinda or Mt Eve's. Upwey were originally scheduled to have their 2's play at Alex with the 1's at Healesville, however, being the highest ranked side with a 2's team also in the finals meant that their game was moved to match their 1's. For the U18's, even though Upwey have all 3 sides playing, Gembrook 1's finished higher than Upwey and therefore earnt the right to play at the same venue as their U18 team.

I don't have problem with the league changing games to match up 1's, 2's and U18's with those clubs who's 1's finished higher having first choice.
